Chapter 666: Shock and Awe

Relentless, unstoppable momentum that create a spectacle of shock and awe all around Brolgadhr tribe and its enemies.

It shocks friends and foes alike and after three days of intense fighting all over, after three days of spreading his name all over that region, he returns back to his tribe and digested the fruits of the triumph

That...three days and three nights of fighting created the foundation of the Brolgadhr rise.

From what his father told him, in those three days, Aeryon did not hesitate even once.

He only had a few dozen men following him yet, without hesitation without fear, he ransacked and destroy and subdues all the tribes and clans that used to be under Xewa and Ghar and to the tribes that are all near the Brolgadhr tribe

It was like he was gambling his life.

If he had lost that gamble, today, there would be no Aeryon and there would be no Khan and there would be no city on the southern tip of the Southern Great Steppe and there would no occupation of the walls by the forces of the Steppe.

But he won. And winning brings about a transformative change toward the tribe. Before, Brolgadhr tribe was never known for their military expertise or bravery.

They are affable, diplomatic, have many connections and their lineage even though it has been diluted is quite noble if one looks at the records of the Old Nobles based on the ancient Empire of the Steppe.

One notice that if one think of the Brolgadhr before the rule of Aeryon, it is seen as a harmless tribe.

They possess enough wealth to make sure their small tribe survive sand in good situation but not rich enough that everyone has an excess.

They have land and their own grazing area, but it is not that large that it would create conflict between the Brolgadhr and the other tribes around it

Their chief is rarely extravagant and their tribe is more known as a peaceful tribe

Probably this is also the reason why the Xewa and Ghar tribe did not mind exiling them. They have the image of a pacifist tribe and they also have many old connections. Instead of poking the hornet nest and give other tribes reason to hate the Xewa and Ghar tribe, they chose toe exile the Brolgadhr tribe

Nowadays, there are many that of the opinion that the Xewa and Ghar tribe is an idiot for exiling the Brolgadhr tribe

But if one look at the situation and the circumstances of that time, one would find it hard to blame the Xewa and Ghar tribe

Xewa and Ghar tribe, these two tribes probably also wanted to expand their tribes.

Though one wonders whether they have the same ambition as the Khan.

Regardless, whether they have the same ambition or not, one thing is clear.

Both Xewa and Ghar tribe wanted to expand their land and their power and influence. And since they share the same enemy, they could work together

The reason for sparing the Brolgadhr tribe at that time, if you look it without hindsight, then one must admit that the decisions of those chief are wise and is made according to the circumstances at that time

Brolgadhr tribe at that time has many allies and is related to many small clans and tribes. Xewa and Ghar knows that taking Brolgadhr tribe at that time would not be the end of the matter.

There is the question of pacifying the tribe and the surrounding clans after the deed is done so they are probably thinking that if they spared the Brolgadhr tribe, the other clans and tribes that once is friend with the Brolgadhr would not think too badly at them and would ally with the,

After all, these small tribes would not fight for Brolgadhr tribe but they would have some reservation and would not have given support if the Xewa and Ghar slaughtered the people of Brolgadhr

Instead, they might use it as a pretext to band together and resist the Xewa and Ghar tribe to the end.

Winning the hearts of the local people.

This is a proven and true tactics. It would help with the integration. This is one of the reasons why Xewa and Ghar tribe did not slaughter the Brolgadhr

And the other reason, probably the most compelling reason is that they donโ€™t want to make the other tribes around them wary.

They know if they expand big all the tribes and clans around them would unite and break them down and cut down their forces.

This has been the case for hundreds of years. No one wanted to see another overlord to appear among them.

And if you think about it, Brolgadhr is not really known as a warlike tribe nor do they possess any famous warriors and they did not have any powerful warbands.

To the eyes of the Xewa tribe, they pose no threat at all. It is like shooing off a little child away.

Killing them would open up new problems but releasing them would not only win them the hearts of the tribes and clans but also avoid making enemies.

The decision back then was no brainer. No one objected that decision that much. Even those who objected only objected because of political spectacle. To them that is how harmless Brolgadhr seems to them

No, it is not only seemingly harmless, they were truly harmless.

So, all of their decision, if you look at them according to the circumstances of the time, they make the most appropriate decision

How could they have expected that the young chief who was about to die of a cold before entering the pass, would suddenly grows a courageous heart, rides toward the Brolgadhr tribe and mount a surprise attack ๐’‡๐’“๐™š๐’†๐”€๐“ฎ๐“ซ๐’๐“ธ๐™ซ๐“ฎ๐“ต.๐“ฌ๐™ค๐™ข

And then in a single night create chaos all over the Xewa and Ghar tribe

in the next three days Aeryon would then mount a fast and swift attack and all of their neighbours, subduing and conquering left and right

Everything was calculated. But Aeryon was an anomaly that is not under that calculation and because Xewa and Ghar tribe had lost, people believe that the two chief of that tribe was short-sighted.

When the truth is, if anyone else was in that position, they might make the same mistake. No, it is confirmed, that under the same circumstances, most chief would choose what the Xewa and Ghar tribe had chosen.

Military prowess and a powerful army could never be associated with the Brolgadhr army. But one battle changes the fate and destiny of the Brolgadhr tribe.

Until now, his father marvelled that three days and three nights operation. And after that blazing show of force, there was never any Brolgadhr military operations in Brolgadhr that has the same impact and force like those three days and three nights.

Because of that battle, because of that foundation, and because of the changes of the Brolgadhr tribe, a new wind enter the steppe and it blows all over the Steppe and that small gust of wind turns to a storm

Because this one battle created a domino effect that could not be stopped.

The battle itself is not the largest or the most tragic or the most difficult battle that the Brolgadhr had fought.

But it is the most important battle. Because it inspires the tribe. And once a tribe is inspired and awakened to become a lion, then there is nothing that could stop them

Aeryon biggest ability is his ability to use the momentum to gain victory. Of course, if the momentum was stopped, then the plans could not move as smoothly. But since the debut of Brolgadhr into the stage of power, once Aeryon had created a stage to create a momentum, he would maintain that momentum until the end

When he believes it is time to wind down, he would slowly wind down the momentum. That would be the time to digest.

Like this war.

Aeryon knows exactly when to press when the momentum is on his side.

And when to stop when the momentum is not on side.

This kind of thing could not be taught. It is like instinct. And when the momentum is on your side you must not hesitate.

The worse thing for a leader is to hesitate during the right time and to charge head on when it is the wrong time

Chayun had always heard his father mentioned Aeryon. Even more so after Aeryon attack the west

"And is that the same for the Khan/" Chayun could not help but see the letter again. He tries to read it

Some of the words are not something he had read before but he could understand based on some of the words

"He even knows I could read"

Chayun thought to himself. This alone shows how much information that the Brolgadhr tribe has on the Chagai tribe.

"I would ask the Ashana to tell me the content of the letter later" he thought to himself.

He might not be a man of letters but the Ashana clearly are.

In the letter the Khan said he respected his father and has always admired his father.

Even though they are enemies, heroes would always appreciate heroes and hearing of his father death, he is filled with remorse.

Such a great warrior should die a warrior death

It is a pity
