Way of Overlord
Chapter 671: Pig Teammate
Katakura, Dama, the advisors and generals of the Esbizuk tribe are no longer just common warriors that fight for a small patch of land or simply beating those mountain tribes and intimidate the tribes to maintain some grazing lands and robbing some sheep and Tayaks.
When Aeryon declare his vision and ambition Dama eyes was opened
All it needed was someone showing the way.
Dama was a simple man.
He has strength, he ahs talent but his ambition is small.
Not because he did not think big.
But his big ambition is limited by his circumstances and surroundings. The biggest ambition is to become a chief.
Thatโs the ceiling of ambition.
A chief that is strong, protect the tribe, have many herds, have large grazing lands, have hundreds of men and a retinue of great warriors
This is high ambition to many people. But then Aeryon appears on the Southern great Steppe.
Declaring his ambition, to conquer the Southern Great Steppe.
And he did not only talk about it.
He makes sure his will is known and executed.
He conquers hundreds of small clans and dozens of tribes and created a city.
Dama eyes was truly open when he follows Aeryon to fight in Nurshira.
When Dama sees Aeryon, he himself could not help but think this is what a hero should be.
The discipline of Aeryon soldier brings not only envy but also fear. and since the battle of Nurshira, Aeryon pace never stops, becoming more and more aggressive.
Dama and Katakura are now warlords wanting to have their own name written in history of the Steppe. Now, the ceiling is raised and Dama no longer wanted to just become a chief.
He wanted to become like Qayan in the past, and he even revive the title of Khan. The Esbizuk kingdom have six regions.
These regions are named by the five largest tribe that the Esbizuk kingdom had conquered and razed.
In the past, even if something happens in the west, they did not need to care about it. But this time....this time it is not the last time
They know that the moment Aeryon managed to digest the west, the final battle would occur between Dama and Aeryon
The prize...the ruler of the Southern Great Steppe.
"Certain plans need to be changed" Katakura then took another report. He reads it and narrows his eyes
"Pig team mates"
"Nergui tribe is now being pushed on all sides"
The Khagai did not even join and the Nergui tribe has been pushed this far. Ultar should have sent some forces to try to help the Nergui tribe. As for Ultar tribe, the battle has been won by Mukhulai and Burchu
Now, they are sporadic battle while Burchu and Mukhulai is now destroying the tribes that are loyal to the Ultar tribe.
Yes, in one battle Mukhulai and Burchu destroyed the Ultar tribe
This is the most shocking thing to happen.
These two Noyan have forced the Ultar tribe into a decisive battle.
And then in that battle, Mukhulai killed the chief, taking the head of the chief among a thousand men
The first time he read it he could not believe it
He had to check the report twice to make sure that he read it right
From the report Mukhulai choose the right position.
He rushed his horse with his men creating an arrow formation crushing through everyone and Mukhulai decapitated the head of the chief with one strike
One must know to kill the commander amidst the chaotic battlefield is a very rare thing. Mukhulai did not only managed to find the commander of the battle, he even daring enough to break through the formation and takes the head of that commander.
For such a commander they would also have retainers around them.
If this is Belarion Katakura would not be this shocked. ๐ฏ๐ง๐ฎ๐ฎ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฃ๐๐๐๐ต.๐ฌ๐ธ๐
Belarion is an innate warrior.
What seems impossible for most warriors, what seems common sense for many other people...does not apply to people born with innate strength
But this mukhkhulai....it is not like Katakura did not research this man.
A former slave, appreciated by the Khan and appointed as general after doing a great deed of bravery and loyalty
If this is before the rise of the Khan, he would have never risen to such a position.
Even though the Steppe did not favour nobility like the Yan or have intertwining aristocratic families and scholarly families, the tribes do have some restriction.
To be freed from bondage is hard.
And after freed from bondage, to be then appointed a general?
That would seem like a fairy tale.
And most people would always put their clans or tribe in charge of the army and in charge of power.
It is only after Aeryon rises that he made an entire reform on his tribe.
Those who are capable, those who have merit, those who contributes, and those who are loyal, regardless of tribes, affiliations and background as long as they satisfy some of these criteria, they could be appointed to a position of power.
Mukhulai was the first but more and more people choose to join Aeryon because of this policy
Talented people that were buried before could now show their talents.
but even so, Mukhulai, this person is not someone who is born with innate energy. One could even attribute most of his success to luck.
But....luck is also strength
Also, luck is not the only thing that he relied on. Mukhulai knows how to train his men and how to command men.
But Mukhulai is not the only one who had distinguished himself this time
There is Burchu
"This formidable spearman" Katakura could not help but exclaim when he reads the report. He had bene paying attention to this person for quite some time.
He is talented, a great spearman. Some said he uses his spear like a part of his body, highly trusted by the Khan.
Judging from the Khan action, he was nurturing Burchu to become a general and now that the war in the west started, the Khan finally used him
But that...that is not the reason why Katakura is interested in Burchu.
Is he a talented spearman?
He is.
But in the steppe, there is many people who is adept at methods of weapon and Burchu is not the only open with a legacy of his own.
What made Katakura interested in him is the fact that Burchu...he is introduced by Ayera.
This is the reason why Katakura is interested.
A point where he could exploit.
Katakura knows there is tension between Aeryon and his wife
Even before Garron death, these two pair of husband and wife....their relationship is quite complicated
Marriage alliance is not rare and even quite common place.
But from what Katakura researched, Garron did not send Ayera to simply become the bride of the young chief of Brolgadhr.
Garron must be planning something.
Of course, whatever that Garron planned might have died with him the moment he died.
However, from some of the spies he planted in Brolgadhr tribe, he got news that there is some kind of chaos between the Khan and his Khatun.
Burchu is a man of honour.
A man of integrity.
Regardless of how loyal he is toward the Khan, Ayera introduced him to the Khan and there are many angles to use here.
Burchu would not be ungrateful. He would help the Khatun in some way or another even if just to repay that matter.
Now, however, Burchu is a leading general and his lethality is quite....shocking to say the least
"Aeryon gathers talent all around him, like he is aided by the heavens. There is Belarion, an innate warrior that is fiercely loyal to him, there is Mukhulai a former slave who is a great general, and then there is Burchu, a loyal man that wanted to join him and now showing its edges"
The time, the people, the circumstances....all of it favoured that young chief.
Aeryon would not be an easy enemy to defeat. He would be unlike all the others chief that his chief had encountered.
"The man his lord admired the most" he could not help think of this in his head
Burchu also contributed greatly in the battle between the Brolgadhr forces and Ultar forces. It would not be an exaggeration to say that Burchu is one the name that become famous because of this battle between Brolgadhr and Ultar.
He distinguished himself and made his fame echoes all over the Southern Great Steppe.
He killed all of the Ultar chief sons. All of them are powerful warriors. But Burchu alone, with only his spear manage to break through countless defences and kill all of them
From the news he was practically unstoppable when he was chasing the sons of the chief
The fact that all of Ultar chief son fought in the war is not rare
The rarest fact is that Burchu managed to kill them all.
This shows there is intelligence.
This battle not only forged Burchu and Mukhulai name, there is a few other warriors that rise to prominence because of this battle
With the forces disintegrated, with all of the influential people in the tribe dead, then it is not even a question who would win
Mukhulai and Burchu then crushed the entire main force of the Ultar tribe so bad that in that battle, it would not be an exaggeration to say that Burchu and Mukhulai disintegrated all of Ultar power.
This is nothing but a dream come true for Aeryon
A decisive battle.
