Chapter 19: Combat Techniques

Two Days Later;

Tyler’s body recovered a lot. He walked out of his room, careful not to disturb Daisy.

At this moment, she was experiencing a major breakthrough.

He walked down the stairs and found only Erena and Mary, talking to each other in the living room.

"Young Master!"

Mary immediately stood up and greeted him. Erena, on the other hand, turned her head away and snorted.

Tyler bitterly smiled. He understood her mood. Imagine chasing a girl for years, only for another guy to confess to her and be accepted.

The worst thing wasn’t that she accepted him. The worst thing was that the girl knew he was chasing her.

Tyler understood this mood because he had gone through something similar. But this world and that world were different.

Here, polygamy was as common as arranged marriage in that world.

It didn’t exist everywhere, but everyone knew about it and didn’t like it.

Whether it was a man or a woman, neither liked polygamy. Except just like arranged marriage, they had no choice but to accept it.

He walked in front of her and wrapped her arms around her shoulders.

"I’m sorry, Erena!"

Seeing this, Mary immediately left. She understood Erena’s mood and supported her, but she was in no position to say anything.

Erena raised her eyes and hoarsely asked.

"Why her first?"

She had already accepted the fact that she wasn’t going to be his wife. But she always wanted to be the first one to have physical relationships with him.

Her disappointment stemmed from the fact that he would have sex with someone he had barely met.

Tyler calmly explained.

"Because I was afraid of losing you. This might sound cruel, but it was just a spontaneous decision because of the danger."

"Yes, she didn’t die, but I wasn’t sure of that. I could’ve controlled myself, but I chose to do this experiment to see whether this would hurt her or not."

Hearing his words, a sigh escaped her lips.

"Really? Even so, it still hurts."

She already knew about his predicament. After all, he hadn’t truly hidden his desire to have intercourse with her.

She was happy that he was thinking of her, but she was also sad because she wasn’t his first woman.

Seeing this, Tyler tightly held her waist and whispered. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"Don’t worry! Once I recover completely, you will be mine."

His words made her blush. She stayed in his embrace until he let go of her and said.

"I will be practicing Combat Techniques in the backyard. Prepare a lot of food for me!"

"Yes, Young Master!"

Upon hearing his command, she immediately returned to her position and bowed.

Tyler walked out of the mansion, and Mary came out of the kitchen.

"Are you alright?"

She asked, sounding concerned.

"Don’t worry, Mary! I am fine. I was too emotional, even though I knew I wouldn’t be his only woman. By the way, we have to prepare food for him."

Erena replied.

Mary saw her acceptance and felt strange.

If her husband had done something like this, she wouldn’t have accepted it so easily.

But considering what Erena told her before, she realized Erena still saw herself as a simple maid.

That was true, but she had seen Tyler retreating Erena as more than a maid. There wasn’t a romance between these two, but they acted like lovers.

Maybe Erena didn’t think she would be his wife, but Mary felt like Tyler would make her his wife.

That was an intuition of a married woman.

In the backyard, Tyler took out a sword from the Spatial Ring. He asked for this sword from Alfred.

It was a one-meter-long sword, with a seventy-five-centimeter-long blade and a twenty-five-centimeter-long hilt.

He had tested its sharpness. It could easily cleave through a tatami mat without any position or strength.

With proper technique, he could even cleave through a tree and rock. Its hilt was white with blue stripes and a snake-like drawing.

The blade was whitish-silver with blue patterns. It didn’t have a scabbard, but he had asked Alfred to make one for him.

Thinking about it, he took out the scabbard from the Spatial Ring. This scabbard looked ordinary with a blue texture and white stripes.

But it was made of a powerful wood that could withstand fire and lightning with ease. He made this scabbard for a reason.

He had chosen four techniques from the library: One Sword Technique, One Movement Technique, One Elemental Technique, and One Defensive Technique.

Sword Drawing Technique, Instant Steps, Shadow Strangling, and Iron Curtain.

Sword Drawing Technique- It was a special technique with one movement. Unsheathing the sword. This technique focused on speed and accuracy.

If drawn fast enough, one could easily use this technique for parry and attack.

Instant Steps- It was a technique where he could enhance his feet to an incredible level.

This allowed the user to move at lightning speed, but the faster one went, the harder it would be to control their tunnel vision.

Shadow Strangling- This technique would create several tentacles made out of dark energy that had the ability to expand and get stronger within shadows.

It was a perfect technique to bind others.

Iron Curtain- It was a technique that gave attributes to his clothes. By infusing mana into his clothes through this technique, he could make them as tough as iron.

He could also give similar properties to his body. The only downside being its time limit. One usage could only last for five seconds.

All of these techniques had one thing in common. They were cost-effective. Sword Drawing Technique and Iron Strangling didn’t cost a lot of mana.

On the other hand, Iron Curtain and Instant Steps required more mastery than mana. The mana consumption could decrease significantly with increased mastery.

That’s why he only chose these four techniques. Of course, at that time, he did have a desire for more.

But now, he believed he could simply expand on his Inherited Techniques and other Acquired Techniques like Flame Devouring, Treasured Dragon Body, and more.

Of course, that was for later. Right now, he had to simply master those four techniques.

When he started reading those scrolls, he blinked twice.

"So, I wasn’t imagining things. My comprehension has truly grown several times. No wonder it didn’t take me long to use Flame Devouring Technique."

"With this kind of comprehension, I should be able to practice all four techniques...."

He turned his head towards the sun and continued.

"By sunset!"

Because the sun was still above his head.

He decided to start with Instant Steps. Memorizing the pattern of mana infusion, he decided to go for the practice.

While infusing his feet with mana, he started transforming the power of mana itself.

There was a reason why people often chose techniques that were easier for them.

Instant Steps didn’t just require mana; it also required the transformation of mana, giving it immense life-force.

This life-force was related to the Yang Attribute. That’s why he chose this technique.

With his previous comprehension of Yang Release, transforming his mana into life-force wasn’t hard. In an instant, he felt an overwhelming energy in his legs.

Now, he just had to kick.

Bang!

Suddenly, the ground underneath his feet cracked open and sank. His body blurred from his previous position and appeared several dozen meters away.

He felt a strong tunnel vision, unable to control his direction and speed.

’So, this is the downside of this technique. And, Instant Steps should be fast but elegant. I mustn’t produce such an immense reaction.’

He thought to himself before infusing his legs with similar mana. Once again, he felt his leg strength growing significantly.

Bang! Whoosh!

He created another hole on the ground, but it appeared nearly ten meters away, just a few niches away from the previous hole.

After using this move twice, he felt a considerable decrease in his mana reserve.

Realizing this, he activated his Inherited Technique and started absorbing Spirit Energy.

’But I only consumed one-fourth of my first level mana. Considering that I didn’t even fill mana to level two, this technique consumes quite a lot at the early stage.’

’I have to master the Yang Transformation, otherwise this cost wouldn’t decrease.’

He thought to himself and continued practicing. During his training, he also took out several spirit stones and crushed them.

Using the spirit stone, he was able to let his Mana Circuit fill up and refine the mana while training.

This sped up his training as he didn’t have to wait to absorb spirit energy.

Nearly an hour later, his food arrived. After finishing his food, he looked at the backyard that was full of holes and muttered.

"It seems like I overestimated myself. One day wouldn’t be enough to master a single technique."

"Then again, I only said I could practice all four. But starting a new technique without mastering the previous one doesn’t feel right."

Erena, who was collecting the utensils, paused and said.

"You are right, Young Master. You should master this technique first."
