What Do You Mean I Have To Comprehend Dao As A Mortal God?

Chapter 128: Testing My Hands

The mining vehicles rolled in and we escorted them to the site of the Mana Crystals.

Initially, I wondered if it would be a good idea for me to keep the new arms out as it might give away my real powers, but Olivia told me that it was fine since people expect new Mortal Gods to be awakening new powers while they learn more about their divinity.

Thus, something like this could be explained away with just me awakening a new power after the fight. That worked for me since this would help me get used to the new power quicker.

Sure enough, while a number of the people around gave me looks when I appeared with two extra floating arms above me, none of them seemed particularly surprised.

On that note, Olivia had also started to formulate her complaints to the Thai authorities given that this rift was clearly not at Danger Class Three.

I stood at the top of the hill, watching the machines move into place as the miners set up the machines to start chipping away at the Mana Crystals.

I can’t help but compare them to the bunny girls who were much more effective in this area.

In fact... From what I heard, the bunny girls were already mining the materials right now while these guys were still setting up the machines...

At this rate, they might even have time to look for another mineral vein to mine before these guys finish mining.

"Thinking about something, my Lord?" Olivia asked, the red Oni standing beside me.

I nodded at the basin, "I can’t help but compare our technology with the Bunarfs... How were they able to advance their tech so far ahead of ours despite them needing to live underground?"

Olivia paused for a moment before answering, "I believe it has something to do with the fact that it was necessary for them to do so to ensure their own survival... And also the fact that they were not in constant conflict either."

Hmm... I guess that makes sense...

Even while they were hiding from the Anomalies in that colony of theirs, they still continued to work and invent stuff.

And because of the finite amount of resources they had, they had to make sure that each thing that they created was not a waste of resources...

Couple that with the fact that they were not fighting amongst themselves... They dedicated their entire time to advancing their technology in the direction of social improvements instead of military improvements.

Good to know then.

Also, I can see how we could rake in so much money if we start offering the bunny girls mining tech as a service to outsiders as well.

Well... Seeing the progress of the miners... We’re going to be here for a while...

One question though...

"This rift should be at least a level four, right?" I asked.

Olivia pursed her lips, "I believe so, my Lord."

"But the amount of Mana Crystals down there... It’s significantly fewer than the ones we found in our level four rift, isn’t it?"

She followed my gaze to look down into the basin, "Hmm... You are right, my Lord... That’s interesting..."

Just by looking at it... We had several caverns full of Mana Crystals and even the smaller caverns that we exploited had more Mana Crystals than what we can see in the basin here.

The number of Mana Crystals there was similar to what you might expect a level two or level three rift... Which actually might be the reason why they thought this place was a level three rift instead...

If that was the case... Maybe it’s understandable that they got the danger level of the rift wrong?

"Perhaps... The Mana Crystals extend deep underground? And only a small part of them is visible on the surface?" I suggested.

"That could be the case, my Lord... I suppose we will only find out after they have started to dig. But that also means whoever was in charge of figuring out the rifts Danger Class cut corners as well."

True that... I’m thinking they probably sent in a drone or something to scout the area and only used the concentration of Mana Crystals as a gauge to what the Danger Class of this rift is and called it a day.

Guess Olivia will get her chance to complain to them after all.

Oh well, we can only speculate right now since we’ll only know the answer after the miners start digging.

For now, there’s something else I want to try.

"Don’t suppose we could find some Anomalies to test out my new ability on?" I suggested, looking up at the two floating arms above me.

Olivia nodded, "There should be a few ’nests’ of them close by, my Lord. We can clear them out under the guise of extending the safety zone around the mining area."

"Sounds perfect, where do we start?"

Olivia answered me by getting a few of the other Guardians to follow along, with Leena being my ride.

The closest nest was just a short jog from here which actually meant that it was quite risky for it to be left alone so we were doing everyone a favour by clearing it out.

The ’nest’ turned out to just be a small grove of trees with a few of those demon Anomalies hanging around inside the grove.

When we got close to it, they immediately transformed into their big sizes and started marching over to us.

I counted six of them in total which shouldn’t be too hard to handle even on my own.

I got off from Leena’s back and told my Guardians to hang back while I took care of them.

One of the Anomalies got a little impatient and charged towards me, its feet thumping against the ground and causing small tremors that shook the earth under our feet.

Alright... First try... Let’s do this.

I bunched up one of the floating hands into a fist and punched forward, which I realised was about a quarter as big as the Anomaly itself.

The disembodied fist flew forward, further than what my normal reach should me and smashed against the torso of the Anomaly.

All of us watched as the chest of the Anomaly caved in with a thundering crack, its insides turning into mush before it was flung back to smash into another demon Anomaly, throwing both of them to the ground and crushing them both.

As I thought, the hands also share my strength. Also, there’s still a good few hundred metres or so between us so the reach of this is pretty far, eh?

One of the other Anomalies tried to attack my floating hand, punching it at the back of it.

Its fist made a dull thud sound and... Nope, I did not feel a thing.

Though... It might just be due to Dan’s ability or something.

I swung the hand and slapped the Anomaly away, the entire building sized demon flying up into the air from the impact to smash down into the ground a distance away.

The last three tried to rush at me instead so I pulled back the floating hand to move both of them above me.

As soon as they got into position I punched the right one down first, smashing the right most demon into the ground and forming a crater with its head crushed into meat paste.

Then I punched the left fist down and the one on the far left also got smashed into the ground with its head splattered all over the ground.

The final Anomaly in the middle ignored the plight of its comrades and leapt towards me, trying to close the final few metres between us.

It did not get far as I pulled back my hands and clapped their palms together with the Anomaly in the middle, just like how you would try to kill a mosquito in front of you.

The entire Anomaly exploded from the force of the impact, its flesh and blood spraying out into the air and splashing onto the ground underneath it.

Ugghh... Ok, that felt disgusting...

I wonder if I can actually switch off the tactile feedback from the hands...

I pulled the hands apart to see the remains of the Anomaly still clinging to both sides of my palms, its innards dangling off in between them.

Bleh...

Please tell me it’s not going to stick...

I unsummoned the hands and the corpse of the Anomaly fell onto the ground with a loud thud.

Ignoring it, I summoned my hands again, making them appear above me once more.

Thankfully, they were completely clean and had no visceral remains on them.

Oh hey, I could also just do this as well if they end up flying too far and I need one of them to be back here again as quickly as possible.

Actually...

I tried to summon another hand further away and... Huh... Apparently there’s a range limit... If it’s too far away from me, I can’t summon it.

Even with that limit... It is still useful though.

Thanks demon Anomaly, I will use your power fully.
