Because of this condition, the mission had been posted for several hours, yet no one dared to accept it.

The condition stipulated that upon entering the mission world, the missionary would completely merge with the original host. In other words, they would temporarily forget their identity as a member of the Space-Time Administration Bureau and believe themselves to be a native of that world. They would also lose access to the carefully prepared starter pack from the Bureau.

The longer one served as a missionary, the more they came to rely on the knowledge and skills acquired at the Space-Time Administration Bureau—so much so that it was almost impossible to part with them.

Without these cheats and their Golden Fingers, and just acting as natives, what advantages would they have? What confidence could they possibly have in escaping the protagonist’s halo?

Moreover, this was a custom series of missions set in a historical period, which inexplicably increased the difficulty. The risks were simply too high, so everyone was hesitating and watching from the sidelines.

To Sister Yun, however, none of these issues were a problem at all!

Sister Yun’s gaze slid to the final reward. ’I can even choose my own post after retirement?’

Her eyes darted about as she reviewed her experience in the previous world, a slight smile playing on her lips. "Mingxing, accept it for me! It’s not like it’s a war-torn era. Why overthink it? Points are everything!"

Mingxing gave a crisp assent and deftly tapped the accept button, afraid someone else would snatch the mission away.

With a new mission secured, Sister Yun planned to rest for a few days before entering the next world.

Her idea of "resting," however, was just to sleep around the clock...

Meanwhile, on the largest planet in the interstellar region, an exquisitely handsome man slowly opened his eyes. They were deep and dark, filled with the cold of perpetual loneliness, not at all like someone who had just returned from a mission world.

He rose from the nutrient pod and stepped into the shower. His eyes lowered, and he stared down at himself, grinding his teeth. "The root of all my problems!"

He wrapped a towel around his waist and emerged, drying his hair.

A butler was already waiting, bowing with a data slate in hand. The vast palace was steeped in a dead silence, its design defined by cold, minimalist lines—spacious and an exercise in understated luxury, just like its master.

"Master, our investigation confirms that the world you just visited did indeed contain a fragment of the energy stone," the butler said, taking a deep breath to withstand his master’s oppressive aura. He maintained a neutral expression as he continued, "Our team has already retrieved it. By calculating the fragment’s magnetic field and trajectory, we have also quickly identified all related worlds."

"As you commanded, I have grouped all related worlds together. Using the Space-Time Administration Bureau’s platform, I have issued a series of premium custom missions to lock down these worlds and limit the number of Space-Time Missionaries who can enter."

The man’s expression was icy. "What happened in the last world?"

’Just thinking about it made him want to grab a blade and start cutting people down. His bloodlust was uncontrollable!’

’To think that he, an awe-inspiring Interstellar War God as ancient as the stars themselves, had long transcended mortal concerns. He had absolutely no need for the shackles of love and romance.’

’Countless exceptional and noble women across the interstellar empires couldn’t earn a single glance from him, let alone any form of intimacy!’

’And yet, while he was merely trying to alleviate his post-war trauma—and incidentally locate fragments of the energy stone—someone had found his weakness and successfully seduced him.’

’Although the violent impulses within him showed signs of abating, he felt no gratitude toward that woman whatsoever. Not even when, for a fleeting moment upon waking, a sense of deep affection still lingered in his heart!’

The butler couldn’t help but shiver. "Master, as you know, you visit the Great Thousand Worlds to relieve your post-war stress. That relief must manifest through some channel."

"In your previous mission, the chosen channel was gourmet food. Therefore, you were highly susceptible to being attracted by someone with excellent culinary skills. The better their cooking, the stronger the pull."

"Of course, if the person didn’t align with your personal preferences, you would have been able to resist, no matter how strong the attraction..."

The man’s face grew darker and darker. ’What kind of twisted logic is this!’

’It wasn’t the first time he’d used missions to manage his state of mind.’

’So, has my willpower weakened?’

"Have you cleared the field this time?"

The butler hurriedly replied, "The premium series mission has been posted, and it only allows two people to enter at a time. I have already reserved one of the slots for you."

Sensing the oppressive aura intensifying, he quickly bowed and added, "Master, rest assured. This time, I have selected a role for you that has no canonical love interest!"

As soon as he said it, the butler’s heart skipped a beat.

’He suddenly remembered that the role his master had taken in the previous world was also supposed to be one where he lived out his days alone, but someone had come along and completely ruined the script...’

The man grunted in acknowledgment. He closed his eyes, sensing the beast within him that he could barely keep caged, and said flatly, "Begin the mission."

Without another word, the butler assisted the man back into the nutrient pod, configured the parameters, and initiated the transfer.

"Mom, Dad, why did I have to learn the truth about my birth?"
