Chapter 292: Chapter 292: Tang Li 20

Tan You pinched the bridge of her nose. "We haven’t even greenlit the project, and you’re already thinking about the cast?"

The director said, full of confidence, "I’m just planning ahead. Who can blame me when our great Director Tang is so swift and decisive? But seriously, Director Tang, how do you have so many creative ideas?"

’If you’d been through several worlds and seen countless shows and movies, you’d have this many ideas too,’ Tan You thought. But honestly, the variety shows here really lacked diversity, which gave Tan You room to shine.

Tan You had assumed her conversation with the director on set that morning was just a joke. She didn’t expect to walk out of the recording studio and be greeted by a beaming Chairman Wang and two other company executives.

One of the executives, quick on the uptake, took the large bag from Tan You’s hands. "Director Tang, shall we talk about that kids’ show and the dating show?"

A faint smile playing on her lips, Tan You glanced back into the studio. Director Hu was nodding and bowing in her direction. ’The thing is, he didn’t expect Chairman Wang to be so fast, either,’ she mused. ’Who knew these people moved so quickly?’

Tan You didn’t bother getting into it with Director Hu. She just smiled. "I’m currently following a production on set. I can’t be in two places at once."

The other executive immediately assured her, "The company has the manpower. As long as we have your creative vision, Director Tang, we absolutely will not let your hard work go to waste."

Tan You thought about it and realized he was right. Trying to do everything herself would only lead to burnout. She was a shareholder now, after all. There was really no need to handle everything personally, as long as the overall direction was correct.

"Alright, in that case, I’ll do my best to get the proposal out within a week."

Chairman Wang grinned. "Excellent. The proposals for the kids’ show and the dating show, then. Not one less."

Tan You rolled her eyes. "Two proposals in one week? Are you trying to work me to death?"

"I have faith in you, Director Tang," Chairman Wang said, his smile especially brilliant. If a smile could coax a script out of Tan You, he was confident his could win a beauty pageant.

Tan You mulled it over. "I’ll give you the concept for the kids’ show first. That one will take more time. I’ll work on the other one when I get a chance."

Seeing Chairman Wang was about to speak again, Tan You narrowed her eyes dangerously. "I’m very busy, you know."

"Right. No matter how busy you are with work, you have to take care of your health..." Chairman Wang quickly changed his tune, making no mention of the capitalist nature he had just displayed.

Tan You shot him a look. "You’ve really said it all, haven’t you? Both the good and the bad."

With the proposal for the kids’ show now in the works, the two accompanying executives were all smiles. They repeatedly invited Tan You to a meal, only to be turned down by her excuse that she had to go back and write the proposal.

The two weren’t the least bit upset; in fact, they were even happier.

Chairman Wang couldn’t stand it. "Look at you two. You just had to tag along. I could have come alone."

"Chairman Wang, isn’t there strength in numbers? Besides, Director Tang is the company’s Director Tang. We also want to build a connection with her. There will be plenty of opportunities to cooperate in the future."

"That’s right. Director Tang probably won’t be following this production on set anymore. She’s so busy, she can’t get away from her other work. Speaking of which, if we start a new show, we’ll need to carefully select the staff..."

Chairman Wang said, "Let me be clear. This is Tang Li’s show, and she must be the producer. She has very high standards for her work, so don’t you go stepping on the tiger’s tail."

"Am I a tiger?" Tan You had naturally seen what was happening with Chairman Wang’s group. ’So, in Chairman Wang’s eyes, I’m a tigress?’

"Of course not! Host is the best and the gentlest..." The little puppy system did a little spin in front of Tan You. "They’re the useless ones. They can’t compare to you, Host."

Tan You’s mood instantly improved. ’That’s right. These men are pretty useless, which is why I seem so capable.’

「One week later.」

Tan You delivered the proposals for both the kids’ show and the dating show. Of course, compared to the kids’ show, the one for the dating show was just a few pages, which made it clear Tan You hadn’t put much thought into it.

The kids’ show proposal, on the other hand, was incredibly detailed. Tan You had described everything from cast selection and show format to the various game segments and questions for behind-the-scenes interviews.

Chairman Wang flipped through it. "This is so detailed, you could have a dog stand behind the camera and film it."

Tan You laughed. "It’s not that extreme. A director’s job involves a lot too."

Chairman Wang picked up the dating show script next to it. "I can see you really didn’t put much effort into this one."

Tan You replied, "Dating shows are more about watching the development between the men and women, right? Honestly, there are many ways to do a dating show, but my suggestion is not to make it so dramatic. Since it’s a romance show, we should have a sweet atmosphere."

"I’m personally not a fan of shows that are just about ambiguous flirting and stringing people along. A relationship shouldn’t start lightly, nor should it end lightly."

From what Tan You had seen, many dating shows had one contestant connected to several others, creating multiple potential love lines, which she personally disliked. If she were to produce a dating show, she would rather film something beautiful and sweet, not a tangled mess of emotional threads.

"That’s why the casting for a dating show has to be done very carefully. What you’re seeing now is just the initial concept."

Chairman Wang’s curiosity was piqued. "From the sound of it, you seem to want to oversee the dating show yourself?"

"I have considered it," Tan You nodded. "But there’s no rush for now. The company is already running two projects at once. Adding another would create scheduling conflicts, and besides, Director Hu is also interested in the dating show."

"True. You and Director Hu have already worked on two shows together; you’re old partners by now." Chairman Wang rubbed his chin. "Then for the kids’ show..."

"I’ll take a supervising producer credit. If I have time, I’ll visit the set," Tan You said without hesitation. "But my creative concept cannot be changed. That’s my most basic requirement."

"Don’t worry, I absolutely won’t let anyone change your concept," Chairman Wang promised instantly. She was the company’s cash cow; of course he wouldn’t let anyone ruin her work.

Tan You smiled. "That’s settled, then. But I imagine the cast will be difficult to book, won’t they? Some people are very protective of their children’s privacy."

"That’s because you don’t know your own standing in the industry now." Chairman Wang waved his hand dramatically. "I’ve already received so many calls this past week. I have no idea how these people get their information so quickly."

"You could say we’re already spoiled for choice."

Tan You thought for a moment. "I won’t have to personally persuade the cast this time, will I?"

"Of course not! What else is our staff for?" Chairman Wang laughed heartily. "We’ll just have the director and assistant director take this proposal and go door-to-door persuading them one by one."

"With such a great concept, one that’s unique in the market, anyone with a good eye will naturally be interested."

Seeing Chairman Wang’s confidence, Tan You didn’t say anything more. "If there’s nothing else, I’ll head back to the recording set."

"Go on, go on. Old Hu will be thrilled to see you." Chairman Wang readily let her go. He had gotten what he wanted, so why keep Tan You there any longer?
