Chapter 1007: Chapter 1007: The Wicked Avatar

The three Darklords descend!

In an instant, they were back—three dark angels floating beneath the black sky, wings spread, standing before the menacing Wicked God.

Jaden said gravely, "The next Wicked God is coming."

"That’s right."

The Wicked God replied coldly.

"And not just ’one of the Wicked Gods.’ The one descending today is the highest-ranked among the three!"

He raised the card high, and a thick darkness seemed to swallow all sense of direction.

"Shadow Unleashed! The ultimate Wicked God, the sum of all the world’s sins—

—The Wicked Avatar!!!"

Everyone’s vision went black. Breaths thundered in their ears. The pressure seemed to seep in from every direction, searing their skin as if a thousand needles pricked their nerves.

Then the darkness exploded.

A colossal orb appeared—a monstrous sun gnawed by a celestial hound, its molten surface rippling like liquid metal.

Though merely a black sphere, it seemed to contain an entire world—a world devoured by fear and despair.

"It’s finally here," Kaiba said solemnly. "The ultimate Wicked God."

He’d seen it once before, but even a single glimpse was unforgettable.

The Wicked Avatar, descends!

[The Wicked Avatar | ATK ?]

Jaden: "Another monster with unknown ATK..."

But by now, he knew: the more mysterious, the tougher it was to handle. Especially since this god looked like a bizarre egg, reminiscent of Kira’s own Ra’s Egg.

But that makes sense: the Winged Dragon of Ra is also a supreme god, and this is its Wicked God counterpart. Ra is a golden egg, while Avatar is a black egg—a perfect match.

"The Wicked Avatar’s ATK is undefined."

With its appearance, the Wicked God’s aura surged.

"But its ATK will always be higher than any other monster on the field—by 1!"

That’s right: always the highest ATK +1, a nod to Ra’s effect of reducing the duelist’s LP to 1 for attack power.

If these two gods faced off, and Ra’s ATK was pumped by LP, Avatar would become Ra’s ATK +1—so Ra’s duelist would lose by exactly 1 point, no more, no less.

A direct taunt to the Winged Dragon of Ra.

Of course, the real card version was changed: the real Avatar has ATK = highest on the field +100, and adds "your opponent can’t activate Spells/Traps for two turns after it’s summoned," but at the cost of losing all its resistances and even its godly attributes (changed from "Divine Beast" to "Fiend").

Right now, Kira had no monsters on the field; the highest ATK was Dreadroot.

The black sphere floated beside Dreadroot, slowly descending. Its surface sprouted twisted spikes, transforming into a gigantic demon—black bones, twin legs slamming into the ground.

[The Wicked Avatar | ATK ? → 4001]

"This Wicked God can change form at will," Jaden said. "It even took on its ally’s shape!"

Of course, Dreadroot’s effect (halving all other monsters’ ATK/DEF) applies to the whole field. But the Avatar is the eldest brother—effects from lower gods don’t work on higher ones.

"Battle!" the Wicked God roared. "Neither god is affected by Trap Cards, and even if you have another effect to negate battle damage, it won’t help. You blocked one hit, but you can’t block the second.

The Wicked Avatar, direct attack!"

Transformed into Dreadroot’s shape, the Avatar stepped forward, a bone-covered fist punching through the air. Even without a direct hit, its force shook the very soul.

A regular duelist wouldn’t even have the mental strength to activate a card against such a god.

But Kira wasn’t a regular duelist.

"Activate set card!" Kira declared. "Trap Card—’Pinpoint Guard’.

Special Summon one Level 4 or lower monster from the graveyard in Defense Position!"

A golden light shot from Kira’s graveyard.

"Special Summon ’Gearfried the Iron Knight’ from the graveyard in Defense Position!"

The steel-armored knight braced his shield, blocking with all his might. The Wicked God’s massive fist crashed down, easily larger than Gearfried himself.

"Using a weakling to block is pointless," the Wicked God sneered. "And Dreadroot will attack next!"

Kira said, "Monsters Special Summoned by Pinpoint Guard can’t be destroyed this turn."

"NANI?!"

The Wicked God’s power surged, blasting through Gearfried—but he stood firm, unbroken.

The Wicked God narrowed his eyes.

The effect protects Gearfried, not the gods, so trap immunity doesn’t help. Gearfried became an indestructible shield, immune even to gods.

"Then my turn ends," the Wicked God said coldly. "Looks like you survived another turn."

"Yep," Kira smiled. "And with every turn I survive, things get worse for you, don’t they?"

"Hmph."

The Wicked God sneered.

"Now that I, the true Wicked God, have been summoned, I have two gods on my field. What’s the use of you surviving another turn?"

"Well, we’ll just have to see about that."
