She was stunned for a few seconds before seemingly coming back to her senses. Trembling, she asked him, "What did you say? Who got into an accident?"

George’s eyes were full of sorrow, his voice hoarse: "About an hour before the plane was to land, there was an accident, and it fell... into the sea."

It was as if another bolt of lightning struck, directly hitting Scarlett Yates’s forehead.

Everything went black before her eyes, and her heart felt as though it was being twisted by a knife, causing her so much pain that she almost fainted.

This pain was like someone stirring her internal organs, fiercely twisting them into a mess, and then cutting them down with a knife, piece by piece.

The piercing pain spread all over her body. Instantly, her hands and feet turned icy cold, and it seemed as if the blood in her body had stopped flowing, feeling bone-chillingly cold from head to toe.

She opened her mouth, trying to say something, but just as she uttered a single word, she let out a sound, felt a warmth in her throat, and a mouthful of fresh blood was spat out.

"Young Madam." George frantically caught her collapsing body.

With bursts of blackout before her eyes, Scarlett Yates could no longer see anything clearly. She felt the ground spinning continuously, sometimes upwards, sometimes downwards, spinning to the point that it made her feel nauseous, and as she opened her mouth again, another mouthful of blood came out.

"Young Madam!" George picked her up and dashed downstairs with her in his arms.

Before losing consciousness entirely, she vaguely heard George’s voice, filled with fear, ringing in her ears. His voice, like hers, was trembling severely: "After Young Madam heard that Young Master’s plane crashed, she was so shocked that she spat two mouthfuls of blood and fainted."

"Take her to the hospital immediately." This was another voice, a very pleasant one, full of magnetism, and much calmer than George’s panic.

In a daze, Scarlett Yates sensed George running with her in his arms.

He ran very fast, so fast that with her ear against his chest, she could hear his heart pounding rapidly.

Then, it seemed like she was carried into a car.

She also heard George urging the driver, "Faster, can you go a little faster..."

And then, she completely lost consciousness and could hear nothing more.

--

Stella Nelson said that the peace charm from Mystic Hideaway Temple was very effective, and Scarlett Yates had always believed that the peace charm could truly keep her loved ones safe.

Before leaving, she had repeatedly confirmed that Matthew Saxon truly carried that peace charm with him.

Yet the peace charm didn’t ensure peace.

From the very beginning, she was wrong.

She had foolishly pinned all her hopes on a small piece of talisman paper.

It was just a piece of paper with some undecipherable symbols; could she really believe that such a piece of paper could turn misfortune into safety and ensure peace?

After waking up, Scarlett Yates lay in the same position, staring at the ceiling above her.

Above, except for a lamp, there was nothing else.

Stella Nelson stayed by the bedside, holding a bowl of porridge in her hand, her voice choked: "Scarlett, please eat something. I know you’re hurting inside, but no matter how much it hurts, you can’t just stop eating and drinking."

Scarlett Yates blinked, having cried for so long, her eyes were dry and sore, as if all her tears had run dry, and she felt like she could no longer cry.

Even though it still hurt as if her heart was being torn apart, she genuinely hadn’t shed another tear.

But her eyes were painfully swollen, bloodshot, and felt as though they were about to burst.

She remained still, expressionlessly staring at the white ceiling above her.

It’s been a day, yet she still felt unable to accept the news of Matthew Saxon’s departure.
