Chapter 36 - Her not her.

Third pov

Sophia couldn’t believe she was back in this pathetic small town again aftoer that Christmas Eve disaster but for her boyfriend Josh’s sake she was here to cheer him on at his game. Josh was hers and hers only, the perfect boyfriend for someone like her and he was going to be an amazing hockey star someday which meant she’d be the girlfriend of someone important and powerful, exactly what she deserved. Unlike that pathetic excuse of a sister.

She huffed as she sauntered through the campus flaunting her beauty and swaying her hips dramatically, flipping her perfectly styled blonde hair as she walked and winking at random guys who turned to stare at her because of course they did, she was gorgeous and everyone knew it. She reached the corner near the arena and immediately froze mid-step because of the scene directly in front of her that made her blood boil instantly.

That fat ugly bitch Rosie was walking hand in hand with a very handsome man, like seriously handsome, tall and muscular and moving with this confidence that screamed power and authority.

No fucking way. How could someone like that pathetic cow pull someone like him?

Sophia felt anger simmering hot and violent inside her chest because she’d thought she’d broken Rosie completely, thought she’d destroyed her so thoroughly that the girl would never recover, but apparently Rosie still had some fight left in her somehow. What was so special about her? Why did people always gravitate toward her when she was literally nothing, just a fat girl with no style and no backbone and nothing attractive about her at all?

Why not her?

It made no sense and it pissed Sophia off more than anything.

She trailed behind them at a distance watching the way the guy looked at Rosie and the way Rosie smiled up at him all shy and happy and it made Sophia want to scream. They entered the arena together still holding hands and a slow malicious grin spread across Sophia’s face as a plan formed in her mind.

She would take this man away from Rosie just like she’d taken everything else. He was so much more handsome than Josh, so much more powerful looking. This was the kind of man she deserved, not Josh.

This was her match and Rosie didn’t deserve him, didn’t deserve any man flying around her when she was such a pathetic ugly thing. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Sophia walked quickly back to the hotel suite where she and Josh’s teammates were staying and immediately jumped in the shower, scrubbing herself with expensive body wash and shaving everything smooth. She did her makeup perfectly with smoky eyes and red lips, the kind of look that made men stupid, and put on her tightest jeans and a low-cut top that showed off her assets because no man could resist her when she put in effort.

She was beautiful and tall and lean and blonde with perfect skin and a body that other girls would kill for, she could catch any man she wanted in this world with everything she had to offer.

She walked back to the arena and spotted him immediately standing near the entrance talking to someone on his phone. She smiled her most dazzling smile and walked directly toward him, then intentionally stumbled and tripped right in front of him expecting him to catch her like men always did, like they fell over themselves to touch her.

Her not her.

But he just walked right past her without even glancing down and her eyes widened in complete shock.

How could he just ignore her like that? Men didn’t ignore Sophia, that literally never happened.

She pushed herself up off the ground feeling embarrassment flood through her and she called after him, voice sweet and helpless. “Excuse me, can you help me? I think I twisted my ankle.”

He didn’t even turn around, just kept walking toward the arena entrance without acknowledging her existence at all.

Sophia stood there with her mouth hanging open in disbelief because this had never happened to her before, ever. Men always wanted her attention and fell over themselves trying to help her or talk to her or get her number.

She gritted her teeth and decided she wasn’t giving up that easily. She never gave up, never lost, and she would make him see that she was better than Rosie in every possible way.

She waited, watching. Followed at a distance as he finished practice and came out. Watched with growing rage as he walked directly to Rosie who was waiting by the benches and pulled the girl into his arms and kissed her forehead tenderly.

How dare he. How fucking dare he choose that fat ugly thing over her.

She was the beautiful twin. She always got the men. Not her.

Sophia took a deep breath, fixed her hair, and walked over to where they were standing together looking disgustingly happy. She put on her sweetest fake smile. “Ro, wow, fancy seeing you here,” she said in a sultry voice while looking directly at the handsome man and licking her lips slightly. “Won’t you introduce us? I’d love to meet your friend.”

Rosie immediately tensed and started rubbing her arm nervously and the man noticed instantly, his eyes sharpening as he looked at Sophia with something that looked almost like disgust.

He moved closer to Rosie and took her hand firmly while keeping his eyes on Sophia. “I’m her boyfriend,” he said coldly and his voice was rough and deep and completely uninterested. “And I know exactly who you are, Sophia. Rosie told me everything you did to her.”

Sophia’s confident smile faltered because she hadn’t expected that, hadn’t expected Rosie to actually tell him about their history. Rosie was always self-conscious about their relationship.

“So here’s how this is going to work,” he continued and his voice dropped even lower and more dangerous. “You’re going to stay away from my girlfriend. You’re not going to talk to her, look at her, or breathe in her direction. And if you try to pull any of your pathetic little games with me again, you’ll regret it. I don’t want you, I’ll never want you, and frankly you disgust me.”

He looked her up and down with pure contempt in his eyes like she was trash on the sidewalk. “Now get the fuck out of my sight before I make you leave.”

Then he turned his back on her completely and guided Rosie away while Sophia just stood there frozen in absolute humiliation with her face burning hot and her hands shaking with rage and embarrassment because no one had ever spoken to her like that, no one had ever rejected her so completely and viciously.

People were staring and whispering and pointing at her and she wanted to scream, wanted to cry, wanted to hurt someone the way she was hurting right now from the rejection.

She practically ran back to the hotel suite and slammed the door so hard it shook in its frame and Josh looked up from his phone with raised eyebrows. “What’s wrong with you?”

“You won’t believe who I saw today,” Sophia spat while pacing back and forth angrily. “Rosie is here. That bitch is here in this town.”

Josh’s entire body went still and he sat up straighter. “She’s here? Are you sure?”

“Yes I’m fucking sure, I talked to her,” Sophia said and then laughed bitterly.

Something flickered across Josh’s face. “Interesting,” he said slowly.

“I have something for her,” Sophia said and a malicious smirk spread across her face as a n idea formed. “because my little elder sister has forgotten herself.”
