Chapter 266: Chapter 48: Lightning Purgatory Slays the Demon Horde

The Scorching Beast couldn’t even let out a shriek before its massive body crashed sideways, blocking half the tunnel.

But this did nothing to deter the frenzy of the monsters behind it.

A second and third Scorching Beast clambered over their companion’s corpse and charged in!

With a mere thought from Murphy, the Flying Sword sliced through the air in a vicious arc!

SLASH! SLASH!

Two grotesque heads shot into the air as foul, dark-red blood fountained from the severed necks, splattering against the rock walls with a corrosive SIZZLE.

The headless bodies staggered forward a few more steps before collapsing to the ground.

More monsters swarmed in!

It wasn’t just Scorching Beasts. Slender monsters that spat highly acidic mucus also appeared, hiding in the rear and spewing streams of foul-smelling green ooze at Murphy!

Murphy moved like a phantom, dodging and weaving within the narrow space. Wherever the ooze landed, it corroded the rock, leaving behind smoking green pits.

Meanwhile, under his control, the Flying Sword transformed into a web of deadly light, weaving back and forth to slice and dice at the entrance to the fork.

Every flash of the blade brought a spray of blood, leaving another monster’s corpse drained of life.

Not a single monster could withstand a single strike from the Flying Sword!

Large Scorching Beasts?

Armor shattered, heads pierced!

The ooze-spitting monsters?

Decapitated!

Even an Earth Rock Worm that tried to force its way in had its thick carapace pierced by the Flying Sword. The Thunderbolt Power detonated within, blasting its massive body into segments and splattering the walls with foul-smelling innards and bodily fluids!

The Flying Sword struck like a cunning viper, its Thunderbolt Power at times concentrating into a single explosive point, at others expanding into an electrified net to block the way.

It reaped lives with deadly efficiency under Murphy’s control.

In just a few moments, a reeking mountain of mangled limbs, torsos, and organ fragments had piled up at the entrance to the fork!

Viscous, almost-black blood soaked nearly every inch of the ground, gathering into rivulets that flowed toward the low-lying areas.

However, the number of monsters seemed endless!

Kill one, and two more swarm in!

Kill ten, and dozens, even hundreds more, would be outside, roaring and pushing forward!

They seemed to have lost all fear. Their eyes held only a frenzied bloodlust and a rapacious hunger for their prey. They surged forward relentlessly, clogging the tunnel with their own bodies!

Murphy’s expression remained calm, but a sliver of ice was slowly forming in the depths of his gaze.

Every full-powered activation of the Flying Sword, especially when unleashing the explosive Power of Evil-breaking from the Thunder Punishment Dao Pattern, continuously drained his Qi.

Although he could still last for a long time, in this seemingly endless slaughter, not even the most profound reserves could withstand such constant expenditure. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

What was more troubling was that the monsters outside seemed to have been thoroughly provoked by the intense battle and the thick stench of blood, gathering in ever-increasing numbers!

The roars were deafening, and the entire fork trembled under the trampling of countless heavy footfalls!

’I can’t keep wasting my strength here,’ Murphy knew with perfect clarity.

’No matter how high my Attack Power is or how sharp the Flying Sword, if I’m facing a sea of monsters that relies on overwhelming me with sheer numbers, I’ll be the one who eventually runs out of steam and dies.’

’I have to break through!’

A harsh glint flashed in his eyes, and the hovering Flying Sword suddenly erupted with an unprecedented, blinding light!

Violet-black lightning almost seemed to solidify as it coiled around the blade, emitting a heart-stopping CRACKLE!

In the next instant, the Flying Sword transformed into a raging beam of light nearly a meter in diameter, composed of innumerable streams of Thunder Sword Qi. Carrying an aura of absolute destruction, it slammed into the mountain of corpses at the entrance and the torrent of monsters still pouring in from behind!

BOOM!

A deafening explosion rang out, accompanied by the agonizing shrieks of countless monsters!

The beam of light, formed from Thunder and Sword Qi, acted like a terrifying meat grinder, instantly sucking in, tearing apart, and mincing both the dead and living monsters that were blocking the entrance!

Flesh and blood flew everywhere as carapaces shattered. Violet-black serpents of electricity darted madly among the sundered limbs, exploding violently!

It carved a brief, bloody path straight through the dense monster swarm!

Without a moment’s hesitation, the instant the path was torn open, Murphy’s form blurred into a deep blue afterimage. He followed close behind the Flying Sword, charging dauntlessly along the temporary path carved by blood and lightning and out of the fissure.

The moment he burst from the fissure, the view opened up abruptly, but what he saw was even more suffocating.

Within the valley, as far as the eye could see, there was nothing but a surging, writhing mass of dark-red figures!

Large Scorching Beasts, Earth Rock Worms, slender acid-spitting monsters, shrieking disruptors... They were packed together as densely as a boiling hive, and the air was thick with a nauseating stench of acrid filth and sulfur.

Murphy’s appearance was like cold water thrown into boiling oil; the entire sea of monsters instantly erupted!

ROAR!

The large Scorching Beasts closest to him were the first to react. Savage flames ignited in their Dark Gold compound eyes as their thick, jointed legs pawed at the ground. They charged straight for him like runaway bulls, cloaked in a foul wind!

Behind them, more monsters turned in unison, as if on command. Letting out a heaven-shaking roar, they began to form a terrifying encirclement!

Murphy’s gaze was as cold as eternal ice. Faced with a scene that would drive anyone at the Peak of Mortality to despair, he had only a single thought.

’Slaughter a path through!’

The Dark Gold Flying Sword moved with his will. Like a thunder-wreathed dragon breaking its chains, it shot forward to meet the onrushing beast tide!

The air itself shrieked wherever the sword light passed!
