Wizard: Scamming a Demon God
Chapter 90 - 78: Advent of the Divine Lamp
"Scram!"
The Old Elf rolled his eyes, but he wasn’t surprised. Legendary Mages were all a bunch of freeloaders, always trying to get something for nothing. So, he tossed Isaac a small booklet.
"A Mage Tower? If you write a research report on the experience of becoming a God, are we supposed to prepare a Divinity for you, too? Just follow the standards and be realistic. Don’t ask for something so outrageous."
"Hehe~" Isaac chuckled. He understood the principle, but ’what if it had worked out? What if?’
The outcome was expected. He took the booklet and said, "Divinity? No need. I can make my own."
"Hm?" Hearing this, the Old Elf, who had lowered his head, looked up again. He glanced at Shushu on Isaac’s shoulder, a strange glint in his eyes. "The artificial Divinity Network—you completed it? This year’s newcomer is interesting. What’s the success rate for your method? I don’t mean when you do it yourself."
Isaac blinked. ’That phrasing... It seems the Wizarding World is far more developed than I imagined.’
"The success rate is very low. Only about one in a thousand."
The Old Elf lowered his head again. "Oh, is that so? If you’re interested, you can take a look at the Tower of Evangelism. If your technology is different from the one in the Sect’s collection, you could probably trade it for a thousand Magic Stones."
"Only a thousand?" Isaac raised an eyebrow, somewhat surprised. ’The Divinity Network surgery is one of the techniques I’m most proud of, but to think...’
’I really have come to the right place!’
Isaac smiled faintly, his anticipation for joining the Sect growing. He opened the booklet and carefully read the standards inside.
"Huh? They needed a whole booklet for this?" Isaac stared, dumbfounded, at the single sheet of paper inside.
Official Wizard: 5,000 Gold Coins worth of Magic Resources, Magic Support up to 500 Magic Stones.
Grand Wizard: 10,000 Gold Coins worth of Magic Resources, Magic Support up to 1,000 Magic Stones.
High-level Mage: Magic Resources starting at 50,000 Gold Coins (amount negotiable), Magic Support of 5,000 Magic Stones (amount negotiable).
And that was it.
"Isn’t this a waste of paper? Besides, what comes after High-level Mage?" Isaac looked at the Old Elf curiously. He wanted to take this chance to learn about the levels beyond High-level Mage, as he hadn’t seen it mentioned in any book so far.
He had only seen the definition of a Demigod, making it seem as if Demigod was the rank directly above High-level Mage.
But that wasn’t actually correct. Demigod was just a title for the strongest individuals, not a specific Level. It was just like how some High-level Mages still held the title of Demigod today.
"You’ll know when you become a High-level Mage. Why think so much about it? Have you revised your research proposal? Think carefully, you still have..."
Before the Old Elf could finish, Isaac went RIIIP, tearing the cover off the booklet he’d just received. Then, smiling, he handed it back.
"...Let me see. ’Research on a Sustainable Cultivation Method for High-Level Demon Flesh.’ Core requirement... a Magic Pool? Hmph." The Old Elf let out a short laugh, his expression saying ’I knew it’. He then casually grabbed a stamp from the side and THWACK, pressed it down.
"Alright, go to the second floor to collect your things." The Old Elf handed the booklet back to Isaac and lowered his head again, resuming his reading of the academic journal in his hands.
Isaac took the booklet but didn’t head to the second floor. Instead, he walked over to another empty counter, picked up a Magic Book, and began flipping through it. He planned to accept a research task as well.
Soon, Isaac found the most suitable task for him among all the research options: "Dragon Blood Demon Bloodline Purification Research—Collection of Pure-blooded Dragon Blood Demons."
This was a magic research project jointly initiated by several High-level Mages. Its goal was to find a simpler, more widespread method for Dragon Blood purification. As such, Isaac certainly wouldn’t be part of the core purification research, but he could still get a piece of the pie. After accepting this research task, as long as the project wasn’t canceled, he just had to submit Dragon Blood Demons every year.
The submitted Dragon Blood Demons had no requirement for the purity of their Dragon Blood. The only criterion was that the Dragon Blood had to be artificially purified. You couldn’t just catch a wild Dragon Blood Demon and turn it in; even catching a Pure-blooded Giant Dragon wouldn’t work!
Although it was simple, the rewards were substantial. First, for Magic Resources, it provided a whole two hundred Magic Stones!
While he wasn’t yet sure of the purchasing power of Magic Stones, his own aid was only five hundred Magic Stones, so he figured it must be a good amount. Next were the magic spell resources, which were the real core of the reward: a choice of any Tier One Witchcraft related to bloodline purification, or a special Position Magic like the Dragon Blood Nurseries.
After making his selections, Isaac took the two booklets to the second floor to register. A total of 500 + 200 Magic Stones’ worth of resources were credited directly to his account. The reason it wasn’t a flat seven hundred was that these Magic Stones could only be used to purchase Magic Materials related to the research projects and had no other use.
So Isaac didn’t touch them for now, as he wasn’t yet sure what he needed.
Then came the two Magic Support rewards. For his personal research project, he could choose a related Tier One Witchcraft and get free access to Magic Books in the corresponding category. He hadn’t made a choice for this one yet, planning to decide after he went back since his energy was limited and it wasn’t urgent. However, for the research task he accepted, he directly chose the Tier One Witchcraft, "Bloodline Purification: Heart Chapter."
Heart Transplantation Surgery, as the first Witchcraft he had mastered, had actually had a significant impact on him.
In addition, he also picked up one of the Sect’s basic spells, Flesh Condensation. This was an enhanced version of a purification Magic Spell, which could be used to further refine Flesh Essence, making it smaller and easier to carry.
