Chapter 976 - 416: How Much Time Is Left? (4)
"What’s even more terrifying is that these beings have begun to completely conceal themselves.
Many ancient members of the Court of Truth have recently collectively entered a deep sleep, and even basic communication cannot be established."
"This collective silence..." Uther’s voice became unusually heavy:
"In history, it usually only means one thing."
Ron’s heart pounded heavily.
He recalled the concept of "reset" mentioned when communicating with the King of Illusions, remembering the disappointment and despair towards the entire civilization.
"Do you mean..." his voice became dry.
"The precursor to a reset." Uther directly spoke the terrifying term:
"When the great beings become completely disillusioned with the current civilization, they choose to let everything return to zero and start anew."
The office fell into a deathly silence.
Even those normally active biological devices stopped moving, as if also being shocked by this news.
"Of course, this is only a possibility." Uther tried to ease the tense atmosphere:
"A reset is an extremely complex process that requires the unanimous agreement of several great beings. And... the cost is also enormous." 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
But his consolation seemed pale and powerless.
"If a reset really happens..." Ron spoke with difficulty: "What conditions are necessary to survive?"
"At least Wizard Level strength." Uther gave a cruel answer:
"Only by reaching that level can one maintain the integrity of self-awareness during the reality reconstruction process."
Ron felt a deep chill.
The satisfaction from various achievements just now was instantly replaced by a huge sense of crisis.
Wizard Level... with his current strength, it would take at least decades to reach that level.
And the reset window clearly wouldn’t give him such a generous preparation period.
"How much time is left?" he asked, his voice trembling.
"It can’t be determined." Uther shook his head and said:
"It could be fifty years, it could be a hundred years, or it could... start tomorrow. Everything depends on when the patience of those great beings is completely exhausted."
"However, you don’t need to be too desperate." The old professor offered some consolation at the last moment:
"The great beings are disappointed but not entirely without hope, otherwise they would have started the reset procedure long ago."
"They are still observing, still waiting for some kind of... turning point to appear."
Uther looked at Ron meaningfully:
"And you are likely one of the variables they are waiting for."
"Remember everything I have told you today." The old professor said at last:
"Time is more urgent than we imagine. Whether it’s Eve’s treatment or your own growth, both must accelerate."
"We may not have much time to prepare slowly."
With these warning-laden words, Uther’s illusion completely dissipated, and the office door automatically opened.
Ron left the office, filled with an unprecedented sense of urgency.
Reset... this word hung like the sword of Damocles over his head, making him feel real fear.
It is humanity’s instinctive fear of the unknown.
If civilization really resets, what will happen to those he cares about?
And himself, although the King of Illusions said he possesses heterogeneity and independence in his soul.
But in such earth-shattering changes, can he truly preserve himself completely?
Thinking of this, Ron couldn’t help but clench his fists.
Time has now truly become the most precious resource.
Every minute and every second wasted could mean irrevocable loss.
