World Evolution Apocalypse: I Possess The Extraction Ability
Chapter 45: Final Plans
That night, the leaders had a meeting at the round table, discussing how their escape was going to be.
Their chosen route was the North Gate, but they needed to make one final check before making their move.
Therefore, they all agreed to scout that place one last time before leaving.
The next morning, Samson drove the porcupine buses into the field house’s garage to prevent it from being affected during their scouting.
Then, the five of them set out, leaving behind Leon’s squad to watch over and control the remaining survivors.
"Reymond and I scouted this place yesterday, but we didn’t go deep." Selene said, walking ahead of the team.
She had her signature cold expression plastered on her face as she looked around.
Samson asked, "Well? Anything new you want to share with us?"
She nodded, her voice low and grim. "Zombies, lots of them. These ones didn’t appear to be coordinated but moved randomly. We killed over a hundred yesterday before retreating."
Samson’s expression darkened. "Doesn’t that mean this North Gate isn’t safe anymore?"
This time, Reymond answered him. "It’s not like that. It’s just a bit complicated."
Scratching his neck, his eyes darted around. "The zombies are much, which I believe is because they’re migrating over here."
"That means we need to leave quickly. Why are we dilly-dallying?" Leon asked, shifting his dark gaze to the young man.
"That’s because we need to make one final confirmation if it’s safe." Selene answered, then raised her hand. Two ice discs appeared before her and shot into the distance, beheading two zombies that were coming out of their hiding.
"Just like yesterday." Reymond muttered under his breath, seeing the zombies walking around in a disorderly manner.
"Then let’s clear up the ones that we can clear." Samson said, hoisting his battle-axe in preparation for the battle.
"Alright." Selene nodded, and began creating more ice discs to kill the zombies that were appearing.
The muscular man immediately walked over to the side and began harassing the zombies left and right, easily crushing them one by one.
"I won’t really be able to kill them that much, so I’ll just stay behind."
Gwen said with a wry smile. Her ability only worked on souls, and zombies were soulless.
"It’s alright." Leon said, turning away and unsheathing his sword.
Reymond did the same, diving around with flashes of lightning as he beheaded the zombies.
Leon didn’t bother moving around. Instead, he grabbed the hilt of the weapon, then struck the ground.
It created a loud sound that attracted the zombies on the left, and they began rushing at him.
’My skin is impenetrable to normal zombie claws, so I can be a bit reckless.’
As the zombies drew close, he unearthed his sword and swung it in a wide arc.
The zombies caught in the range of his swing were instantly cut into half by their waists. And as they fell to the ground, their heads were pierced by shadow spears, killing them instantly.
[You have slain a Level 7 Normal Zombie!]
[You have slain a Level 9 Normal...]
[You have slain a Level 6...]
Several messages flashed before his eyes, but he felt disappointed when he realized he couldn’t gain anything important from killing these zombies.
Still, he killed them. After half an hour, the zombies stopped appearing.
"Looks like we’ve killed all the ones that migrated today." Selene said as they regrouped.
"This is good." Samson smiled, "Can we go today, or we have to wait till tomorrow?"
Selene lowered her head slightly. "Tomorrow. I was thinking we should carry as much food supplies as we could from these restaurants and take it with us. Also, we haven’t talked about our plans for when we leave the university."
Her words made sense, so nobody disagreed. Deciding to get the food supplies first, they went back to call on their workers.
Meanwhile, as soon as they left, a skinny zombie climbed out of a building and looked at them departing.
It stared for a moment, then turned around and left. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
Selene’s group brought the students and loaded a large amount of food supplies before leaving the restaurant and returning to the field house.
Samson oversaw the process of loading them into the buses. Thankfully, the supplies didn’t contain too much space.
After confirming that everything was ready, he went back to join them at the table.
"Now that he’s here, let’s start." Selene said calmly, already having a map on the table.

"I’m heading towards the southwest of the university. Towards Newark." Leon said first, pointing at the location marked on the map.
The others glanced at it and nodded to themselves.
"Same here, but a different target. Jersey City." Selene said, surprising Reymond.
"Aren’t your parents in Brooklyn?" He asked, a bit confused.
She looked at him and said. "I’m heading over to my granny’s place first. If she’s still alive, then I have to save her."
Then, she glanced at Leon. "That means we’re heading in the same direction. At least for a while."
He didn’t look pleased, but he wasn’t displeased too. Instead, he remained silent, staring at the map like he wanted to bury it in his mind.
"I’ll be going with Selene for now." Gwen said as she looked at Jersey City on the map. "I don’t have an idea where my grandfather might be now, but I’m sure he’ll find me regardless of where I go."
This statement piqued Leon’s interest. "He will? You’re that confident?"
Turning to him, she smiled. "Of course, I am. My grandfather loves me that much. He’s probably on his way to the university at the moment. But I can’t just stay put and wait for him to appear. It might take months."
Reymond sighed, rubbing his chin. "It seems I have no choice but to stick with you guys. My family should be around Brooklyn, but there’s no harm in making a detour."
Finally, they all turned to look at Samson. The man was staring at the map solemnly.
"I used to live around Stamford. And that’s where my daughter’s school is. I’ll be heading to a path different from yours, then."
Selene leaned forward, her gaze focused. "That decides it. Since we have two buses, you take one, and we take one. Everyone who’s going between the north and the east will follow you. While those traveling between the south and the west will follow us. Agreed?"
Everyone at the table nodded. "Agreed."
