Yandere Monster Evolution: My Blind Wife Will Become a Demonic Queen
Chapter 18: Reasons
Forget the timer, forget my feelings, forget everything else. Right now, Jane is the most important thing to deal with.
I don’t fully understand Viora’s feelings yet... but I can’t afford to run away from mine anymore. Also, it is the only way to help her.
I know many of the dungeons and hidden artifacts and ways to get strong really fast myself and protect her but I can’t. There is something that needs to be resolved by the person themselves. And this is one of them. I just need to be the ladder to the top which she can climb.
If she accepts me... maybe I could finally save her. I need her to say yes first and then I need to give her a ring, then everything will be done. So let’s start with that.
"A... Viora,"
She turned her head toward me and replied, "Ya..."
"Do you want to drink water?"
"Ye..."
I stood up, grabbed the glass of water and went closer to her. Then, I helped her lift her head up and drink the water.
After she drank it I slowly placed her head down and sat near her. For a moment, I stayed silent and kept staring at her.
’How could I not recognize her? She was the most tragic character to ever exist in the whole story.’
With my hand, I began to caress her head and she also didn’t seem to mind it. She just closed her eyes and let me embrace her hair.
But I didn’t stop doing it for a while and that made Viora get worried. She opened her eyes and spoke, "Yu... Happen... Sam...tin... Tell... Me..."
I stopped stroking her hair and looked out of the window. From it, I could see half the sun as it was going up.
"Viora, do you like the sun?"
I asked but Viora didn’t answer me. She blankly stared at me. Then, without warning she moved her hand and waved it aimlessly in the air. She was trying to find my face. Therefore, I moved into her touch.
After she found my cheek she kept her touch on me for a while. "Yu... Act... Differt... Wat... Happened..."
It seemed she was able to tell that something was wrong just by my actions, and the way I was talking. But I am not gonna tell her anything.
If I mention Jane now, when she already has too much to deal with it would only increase the weight she is carrying.
"Just answer me. Don’t say anything else."
She pulled her hand back and let it fall beside her.
"Do you like the sun?"
"Ye..."
"Do you like flowers?"
"Ya..."
"Then, tell me what is it that you and everyone else like about them?"
"It... Is..." Viora didn’t continue and just went silent. I expected it.
"You can’t answer right?" I stood up and walked to the window.
First, I looked at the sun and slowly moved my face to the ground where different kinds of flowers were.
"Look, people don’t need a reason to like anything. And just like that there is no rule saying that you need to have a reason to like someone too."
I turned away from the window, then walked back to her and stood at the side of her bed.
"You don’t need reasons," I said. "You just feel it."
"That is all you need to remember."
For a moment there was silence again. Viora shifted on her bed and her hand moved in the air. Then, slowly stopped when she found my hand and grabbed it.
"...Yu... Feel... Sad..."
It wasn’t a question. She was stating what she noticed. I let out a small breath and lowered myself to sit beside her again.
"No, I am fine."
"Yu... R... Lyin..." Viora didn’t believe me and she just tightened her grip on my hand.
What I was feeling isn’t sadness, it is worry and anxiety. It is making me feel like a completely different person. I don’t even know where the words I am saying are coming from.
"Are... Yo... Levin...?" Viora pulled my hand closer to her and grabbed it with both hands.
"No, I am not leaving you."
"Ten... Wy..."
"Actually, yeah, I am leaving." I said and noticed her grip tightening even more. It was clear she didn’t want to let go of me. Because, if she did I might also leave her like everyone else.
"Yu... Said...—"
She began but I didn’t let her speak further.
"I am leaving, yes, but you know why I am telling you this?"
Viora shook her head softly and I continued, "Because, I want you to come with me too."
"But... I..."
"I know about your condition and don’t worry I will make sure you can walk on your own two feet when you leave this room. I just need you to say ’yes’. I will take care of everything else. I know I’m still a stranger... but let me stay beside you."
I finished.
Viora took a deep breath and let go of my hand. I was eagerly waiting for her answer but she took her time before answering.
"Yes... I... Will..."
