Chapter 73: How to Take Care of a Dead Body?

As I approached the assassin’s body, my expression gradually became serious. Up close, several things became obvious.

His equipment, clothes, and weapons—none of them were ordinary. Even his concealment ability seemed professional.

This wasn’t some random criminal. Someone had sent him. Of course, someone would. After all, I am the one and only family member of an S-Class Healer who is also Association’s Director.

The status she has can’t be achieved without making some enemies along the way. Now, I understand why I was in the hospital and why this character wasn’t in the story.

Also, I remember that there was an arc after the Jane Arc where Elena went out of control and destroyed an entire Guild.

’Was she angry because of the death of her nephew and getting revenge?’

I can’t remember clearly, but I know that the sender is far more terrifying than the assassin himself.

Because dead bodies couldn’t attack me, but the people who hired them could. So, I crouched beside the corpse and began searching through his pockets.

However, I didn’t find anything. He had no wallet, identification, or phone. There was nothing that could reveal his identity. And that isn’t strange. After all, he had to be prepared for every possible outcome.

"Hm?"

Suddenly, my fingers touched something inside his pocket. I grabbed it and pulled it out. At first glance, it looked like an ordinary coin. However, the moment sunlight struck its surface, a symbol became visible.

A black eye surrounded by several thin cracks.

"..."

A bad feeling immediately appeared inside my chest. If my memories aren’t betraying me, then this is the symbol of the Black Faction Guild.

"Viora."

"Mhm?"

"I think someone sent this guy after me."

Hearing my words, she immediately stood up and her expression became cold again.

"Who?"

My gaze remained fixed on the strange coin as I ran through all the major members of the Black Faction Guild in my mind. But somehow, I couldn’t pinpoint one person. After all, all of them were evil enough to do something like this.

"It is the Black Faction."

"Black Faction...?!"

Viora’s eyes widened with shock and utter confusion. After all, this Guild wasn’t just an ordinary one. It was a powerful Guild whose ranking kept its roots in the top ten in the world throughout the whole series.

"Yeah, this symbol says so, but I am not sure if it’s the Guild or only one person who is after me. And I also don’t know why they are targeting me."

I said, and Viora’s eyes suddenly shone with a new idea as she began to speak.

"How about we tell your aunt and let her take care of this matter?"

So, she knows who my aunt is? Then why was she acting oblivious when she first met her?

"We can’t. If we tell her, then the first thing she will do is send you away, which you won’t want to happen, right?"

Viora became silent, and I continued speaking.

"Whatever, we will think about what to do after I take care of him."

Viora nodded, and I lifted the body from the ground and grabbed the severed ear with two fingers because I didn’t want to touch it more than that.

....

The first thing I learned after dragging a corpse across a garden... was that dead bodies were heavier than movies made them look.

I genuinely thought burying it would be a lot easier since I had watched many people do that on screen.

After twenty minutes of digging, after breaking one shovel, and after questioning every life choice that brought me here... I came to a realization.

Burying people was hard, very hard. Whoever invented the phrase ’bury the evidence’ clearly had never tried doing it personally.

"Huff... Huff..."

I leaned against the shovel while wiping sweat from my forehead. The hole I had managed to dig wasn’t even knee-deep. If I placed the assassin inside it, half his body would still be sticking out.

"Nope."

I immediately abandoned the idea of burying him.

Viora, who had been standing nearby despite my repeated instructions to stay on the balcony, tilted her head.

"Are you giving up?" she asked, and I responded with, "I am adapting."

"That sounds like surrendering."

Hearing her words, one question popped up in my mind. Was she here to encourage me and help me, or was she here to make me feel bad?

Ignoring her, I grabbed the assassin by his legs and dragged him toward the rear wall of the villa. The body slid across the grass the entire way.

Once we reached the wall, I looked over it. It was quite short, about the same height as me, so looking over it wasn’t difficult.

On the other side was no one, other than a hill and some stones.

Perfect. Or at least as perfect as throwing a corpse over a wall could be.

"Alright."

I lifted the body from the ground with great difficulty, but when I was about to send it to the other side, I was unable to do so because lifting it from the ground was easy, but throwing it above my shoulder wasn’t.

"Ahh. Viora. Can you help me?"

Even if I didn’t want to ask for it, the situation and the weight of the body forced me to. The moment those words left my mouth, Viora’s expression brightened slightly.

"Of course."

It was as if she had already been waiting for me to say that, and before I could explain what I wanted her to do, she walked over to me.

"Wait. I only need help lifting—"

My words stopped halfway when she casually lifted the corpse from my arms with one hand. What felt like tons to me was only kilograms for her.

"..."

I stared at her. Now, she was holding it above her head with one hand and waiting for me to instruct her.

’Just how strong is she?’

I was so mesmerized by her strength that I completely forgot about the situation in front of me.

"Woo Jin?"

She called me, and I came out of my ridiculous thoughts.

"Just... throw him to the other side of the wall. It is right in front of you."

"Okay." 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

She walked toward the wall without any difficulty whatsoever. Meanwhile, I followed behind her. After reaching the wall, I told her to stop.

"Stop. Now you can throw it."

"Okay."

Viora nodded and, without warning, threw it to the other side of the wall.
