You Are Mine (English)
Chapter 668: He Could Hope Nothing
After saying so many words out, Edie’s tears fell down. But she still fixed her eyes on him with determination.
Her words, like the coldest water, put out the fire of his anger.
She never told him all these before.
He didn’t expect that life was so hard for her before.
"Why...why didn’t you tell me earlier?"
"If I tell you, what could you do? What would you do?" 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
She showed a bitter smile and asked.
Her words choked him. Such an omnipotent man found no words to answer.
Indeed, what could he do if she told him? Except being guilty, he could do nothing.
It was he that dragged her into his world all of a sudden. He didn’t even give her a second to adapt to his world before exposing her to the public.
He ruined her career, "Sorry..."
Stuart said, fixing his deep black eyes on Edie’s pale small face.
He couldn’t help himself wiping tears on her face.
But she stopped him.
"Stuart, don’t do this for me. Your tenderness was poisonous for me. Don’t use it on me, please."
Hearing these, Stuart smiled bitterly and loosened his hands. "If you told me these earlier, I might already give up. I never want you to be upset. That also makes me painful. If that’s the life you love, I can give up. I would no longer bother you again. I promise."
Then, he walked one step backward.
That one step became a huge gap between them.
They could no longer cross that gap to approach each other.
Edie bit her teeth tightly to control her tears. Then she turned around and left.
Stuart didn’t chase after her. He just stood there, staring at her back blankly.
He felt his heart get hollow.
It felt like he already lost everything in this world.
He felt no hope there.
Before meeting with her, he thought she already passed away. So he could look forward to her coming into his dream.
But now...
He already knew that she was still alive. And she hated him.
He could hope nothing.
He fell down on the ground desperately. Looking at this house familiar to him, he recalled lots of things before.
During those years, they lived here, like a common couple. Nothing big happened. They lived a peaceful life. It felt so warm.
But, that life would no longer come back again.
Edie didn’t know how to describe her feeling all her way back home. After returning back home, she locked herself in her bedroom and cried out.
Her heart was burning out.
It was really hurtful.... really hurtful.
At night, she picked up Laty and shopped at the supermarket.
Laty noticed her reddened eyes. She asked,
"Mom, have you cried? For that cheap dad?"
"No," Edie lied, "I know you’ve been contacting him behind me these days. Don’t do this again. I have nothing to do with him from now on. He is no longer your dad, got it?"
"Oh...would he come back again?" Laty hesitated for a while and asked Edie.
Why did she feel lost when Edie told her that he had nothing to do with her anymore?
Though that man was mean to her, apparently he loved mom deeply.
Wasn’t he good enough for Edie?
"No. He wouldn’t come back again."
Edie answered.
Since Stuart has said those words out, he would keep his words.
Hearing this answer, Laty got blue immediately.
She asked torpidly, "All right then. I don’t know if he gave up so quickly. I am wrong. If I really help him chase after you, he might fail, too. He was not worth your love. Forget about him."
Though Laty was complaining, she sounded quite upset.
Edie got a little confused. She turned towards Laty and asked her, "Do you like your dad so much?"
"I know lots of men were chasing after you. But no one is better than him. He is cute and wealthy. The most important point is that he is my biological dad. I know this since I realized things. I looked forward to seeing him in reality. Now he appeared but disappeared all of a sudden. I felt it was like a dream. He was also the worst. He always made you cry. Apparently, he didn’t make you happy."
Laty held her fist tightly and said with anger.
Edie looked at her daughter’s face gently. Laty really assembled Stuart. Edie touched her little head and said gently, "All you have now is your mom. Live with me from now on, okay?"
"Of course, I am willing to live with you. But....don’t you feel lonely? I am worried about you. I don’t want you to be lonely."
Lonely...
Certainly, she would feel lonely. But this was the best choice for both of them.
"You are too young. You couldn’t understand us. Let’s go. Steak tonight..."
"Steak? Could you control the heat?"
They pushed the cart and walked far away.
After walking out of the supermarket, Edie looked for the car key in her purse. At the moment, Laty held her hands and said excitedly.
"Look there. That man. My cheap dad."
Hearing this, Edie slipped the key back into her purse.
She raised her head and looked forward.
It was rush hour. It was the crossroad in front of them. In a red light. Many cars were waiting, forming a long line.
Stuart’s car was among those cars.
The car window was opened. Edie saw the face of masculinity. Perhaps he took some rest today. He looked much better now.
But, he still looked quite tired.
He looked so indifferent and cold, like the snow in winter.
It seemed that...he’s changed.
Laty’s voice attracted Stuart’s attention.
He turned towards them, seeing Edie and Laty standing in front of the supermarket.
"It is Miss Lara and her daughter."
"Ignore them."
He said in a cold voice.
Just two words.
Then he looked away as if he didn’t even know them. He looked so indifferent as if he never cared about them.
Then the window was closed. His face disappeared from Edie’s vision.
The green light was turned on. The car started and disappeared at the end of the street.
Laty turned towards Edie immediately. Edie looked blank. It seemed that she was still in deep sorrow that she was not able to respond.
"Well....that cheap dad has gone..."
"Yes. Wait here for me. I need to drive our car here. Don’t go away."
"Okay, mommy," Laty said obediently.
Laty looked at Edie’s back. She saw Edie raised her hands. Laty guessed she might be wiping her tears.
Edie...
Must be so sad.
Such an asshole. He was so cold and indifferent just now. His eyes made Laty feel so comfortable, not to mention Edie.
She took her mobile phone out and sent a text to that man.
"Asshole. You such a loser. You are not qualified to be my dad. You are not worth my help. Go to hell."
