You Are Mine (English)
Chapter 671: It Was Too Late To Regret
Edie heard their discussion.
Two men were bleeding everywhere...
That would be so painful for them.
Edie could no longer support her body. She fell down, bursting into tears.
She kept shaking her head and said, "No, impossible. He wouldn’t die. How could Stuart die? He has been confronted with lots of disasters, but he always survives. How could he die in such a small accident?"
"Mom. Do you have any words to tell dad? It might be too late if you don’t say at the moment..."
The little girl said and sobbed. Her bright eyes were covered with tears, fixing on Edie.
Hearing Laty’s words, Edie looked towards the white sheet stained by blood. She felt her eyes were burning.
Suddenly, she made a smile in despair.
"What can I say...he already died...."
Her tears kept falling down as if it would never stop.
"Don’t have to want to tell him anything?"
Edie’s eyes were blank at the moment as if her soul was already taken away.
Stuart passed away.
No one would love her as he did anymore.
It was too late for her to regret it.
"Tell him? I want to tell him about lots of things. I thought I have the rest of my life to tell him. I don’t expect he could pass away so easily. Stuart, I finally experienced your feeling five years ago, when Norman told you I’ve passed away. My heart was burning. You know I am scared of any pain. I cry every time when I felt pain. Who could comfort me, since you’ve left me?"
"Stuart, I was lying to you yesterday. I am still in love with you. I am still in deep love with you. Every time I went back to London these years, I would go to visit you. It was the first thing I did. But you didn’t know that. I couldn’t let you know. I know everything about your life these years. You couldn’t smile these years. Your eyes looked so cold, and even you looked at Ivan. I missed you so much. I missed your smile. It made me feel so warm. Do you know about that?"
"I asked Scarlet before whether I could forget someone by traveling. Scarlet told me it depended on different people. Indeed, it depended on people. It didn’t work on me at all. I’ve spent a long time traveling around the world. But I never met another man like you. I never lost you. I know you would be waiting for me there. I would find you one day. I don’t know.....I couldn’t find you anymore...."
"Stuart, if I know this, I would never ever ask you to leave. It is all my fault... Stuart, please, go leave me...please."
She raised her hands, trying the best to hold the hands hanging down.
The hands were covered by the blood. It didn’t look slender anymore.
Dead man’s hand. It felt so cold.
"Stuart...."
Sobs choked Edie. She couldn’t say more words. All she did at the moment was holding that man’s hand tightly.
At the moment, a nurse walked into the ward and asked Edie, "are you his family. Process the procedure and take him back."
Hearing this, Edie got crazy, "Doctor, could you check him again? He wouldn’t die easily. I know him quite well. Nothing could kill him."
"Miss, he did die. We could do nothing more. I am sorry. Oh, where’s the corpse of the lady on the third bed? She is his wife, right? Did her family take it away? But why didn’t they take her husband together?"
At the moment, the nurse got confused.
Hearing these words, Laty stopped crying immediately, "they’ve come here. But they couldn’t take both. They would come back later to take him away."
"Oh. I see. Remember to do the paperwork. Time on the fifth bed, you can check out now..."
Hearing their conversation, Edie got confused. Tears remained in her eyes. She looked towards Edie confusingly.
Why was she still smiling? Shouldn’t she cry?
Laty turned towards Edie in guilt. She felt a little embarrassed, "Actually, that man is not my dad..."
"Where’s your dad?"
Edie didn’t have enough time to understand Laty’s words. She asked her immediately.
"I am here."
The man stood behind Edie, telling her in a low and indifferent voice. But Edie could still feel his love.
It was him....it was his voice.
She turned around slowly and stood up. It was quite incredible. She stared at the man standing in front of her, widening her eyes.
The man was standing straight in front of her. His forehead was injured. But it had been handled. He looked fine, except a little blood on his clothes.
"You...you didn’t die...."
She looked towards the bed. Suddenly she realized something. She threw the white sheet immediately. It was another man.
"You...you lied to me."
Edie’s eyes were full of tears. She was so hopeless just now. She felt so wronged.
She cried like an idiot. She even said those words. What was worse was that she held another dead man’s hands tightly.
She really believed he already died.
Now, this man was standing in front of her, as if nothing happened.
So shame on her.
Edie couldn’t help herself bursting into tears.
Seeing her crying, Stuart immediately walked to her and held her tightly into his arms.
"You asked who could comfort you since I’ve left you. I am here to comfort you. You don’t have to worry about this anymore." Stuart said in a gentle voice. If Scarlet didn’t tell him this idea, he would never be able to know what Edie really thought. She was still in deep love with her. She never forgot him.
She was lying to him yesterday. Then what did she really want to say?
He really wanted to know. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
"I am still alive. I would not leave you anymore." he kissed her hair and comforted her over and over again. Edie still cried.
"You were all lying to me. Why...why could you lie to me? Let me go..."
"Five years ago, you also lied to me. You’ve been lying to me for five years. I just lied to you for five minutes. We are even up. From now on, you don’t owe me anything."
"I owe you? I never owe you anything. Bastard. You big asshole. Let me go."
She kept pushing him away. But Stuart hugged her so tightly that she failed all the time.
He placed his jaw on her hair and said with determination, "No. I would never let you go again."
"You...."
"Edie, you know you are still in love with me. Why did you still push me away? If I die today, what would you do? Now, since I’ve survived, do you still want me to go?"
Before she finished her words, Stuart interrupted her. He sounded so deep and sad. His voice kept ringing around her ears.
Did she still want him to go?
