Chapter 896: It Shocked Him
After getting into the car, Scarlet was still confused. She never expected that this would happen in front of her when she came to this house for the first time.
"What....what happened?" Scarlet swallowed her saliva.
Jason smiled bitterly and helplessly, "I don’t know. They’ve never quarreled with each other before. They’ve never disagreed with each other before. They were born to be a perfect partner, in work and in marriage. Seeing what happened just now, I am also so surprised. I never expected that my mother would also shout out one day. That really shocked me."
Jason couldn’t find any proper words to describe his feeling at the moment.
"So....do I still need to talk to your father. "
"I don’t know. They are both quite serious people, especially when it comes to law. This time, they might really get a divorce. But I don’t think they could really separate from each other."
"Why?"
"My mother is a lawyer and professor in the school of Law in Toronto University. Almost half of the judges here are her students. They will never accept to help my parents get a divorce unless they wanted to give up their job."
Jason held his forehead and made a bitter smile. He really didn’t know what to do this time.
Scarlet also got speechless. She even started imagining the scene when Jason’s parents got a divorce.
"What should we do now?"
"Waiting. That is all that we can do now. I would comfort my mother. I could show you the place I lived before."
"Would I see the stuff those girls left you before? Like, watch, belt, tie, sexual toy, and so on?" Scarlet smiled gently. Apparently, that smile looked so dangerous.
"..."Jason touched his nose and slowly looked away, "Oh gosh...."
He had left that house a long time ago. The maid would clean it on a regular basis. He had lots of girlfriends before. Those stuff Scarlet mentioned still remained in that house. The maid never threw them away.
Seeing the expression on her face, she squinted hard and said, "Mr. William, don’t you want to talk about it? Do you really want to see those things when we step into the house?"
"Scarlet, baby, I am hungry now. Could we have dinner now? My mother might also be hungry now. Let’s have dinner now. What do you say?"
"We could buy some food and cook in the house. I want to eat the dishes you cook for me. What do you say?"
"..." Jason didn’t know what excuse he could say at the moment.
Jason’s apartment was much cleaner than what Scarlet had imagined before.
It was a single folded flat, with a basement wine cellar. Jason kept lots of good win in it. Some wine was what Scarlet had been dreaming of for a long time. But she never got them.
When Grace walked into the house, she immediately walked to her house and made a call to draft the divorce agreement.
She moved so quickly that even Scarlet was shocked by such speed.
Jason padded her shoulder and said, "Could you go to talk to my mother. I don’t think she is in a good mood now. Protect yourself. I need to go to buy some food now."
"Okay, don’t worry about me," Scarlet said. Then Jason took his coat and the car key. Then he walked out.
Scarlet walked to the door of Grace’s room. Seeing her sitting by the bed, she knocked on the door, "Do you want to talk?"
"Where is my son?" Grace turned around and asked her in a cold voice. Apparently, she didn’t want to talk to Scarlet at the moment. After all, it was Scarlet that would take her son away from her.
Love might be false. But parents would never be false.
"He got out to buy some food. Just two of us now."
"What? How could you let him buy food?" hearing Scarlet’s words, Grace widened her eyes in shock.
"I.....I don’t know what you like to eat. Besides, I am not familiar with this place. If he lets me buy food, I might be lost," Scarlet said innocently.
She looked at Grace with her big innocent eyes.
Seeing the expression on Grace’s eyes, Scarlet certainly never dared to tell her that she always asked Jason to cook for her. If Grace knew that, she would never forgive her. This woman might really kill her.
Hearing this explanation, Grace nodded unwillingly.
"Fine. But Jason never did such trifles before. He had maids to take care of him. You should not let him cook. Remember this. This attaches great importance. If you have a guest, you should show more respect to him. Besides, I think you might change your job...."
Hearing these words, Scarlet got more and more confusing, "Have you accepted me as your daughter in law?"
"Do I have other options?" Grace stared at the girl in front of her unpleasantly. She had a feeling that she failed this time. She really felt so shameful.
Hearing her answer, Scarlet got so excited. But she still asked her carefully, "So what could I call you now?"
"Mother. Of course, call me a mother. I don’t think you need me to teach you this." she rolled her eyes and said, "I want you to work in Modern Technology from now on. You are totally qualified enough to be the manager in the department of marketing or advertisement. You can help Jason."
"Mother, I won’t go to work in Modern Technology. My boss treated me quite well. He is my friend. I am the chief editor of the magazine. I should not quit the job now."
When it came to her job, Scarlet turned slightly serious. She fixed her pure eyes on Grace, telling Grace how determined she was at the moment.
Hearing her answer, Grace raised her eyebrows, "You dare to refuse me now. Quite good. Such a good daughter in law. I am so impressed."
"Mother, I really could not give up my job now. Please forgive me."
"You really piss me off. Do you really want to throw me in despair?" Grace covered her heart with her hands. She was pissed off these days so many times.
Seeing this, Scarlet immediately poured a glass of hot water for her and tried to apologize, "Mother, sometimes friendship means much more for me than benefit. My boss has helped me a lot. I owed him a lot."
"Whatever. I don’t want to say anything more. Cook something later for me. I want to try. Since you’ve gotten married to my son, it is your responsibility to cook for him."
Grace gradually lowered her standard. But she would never make a concession on this.
Since she got married to Zelda, she became a perfect partner in both the family and the career. She helped Zelda move all barriers in his career. They helped each other all the time in their marriage. They relied on each other in their marriage. Grace clearly knew that.
Looking at the seriousness on Grace’s face, Scarlet swallowed her saliva. At the moment, her face turned paler.
Seeing the expression on Scarlet’s face, Grace raised her eyebrows instantly, "What? Could not cook?"
"I could cook," Scarlet said in a weak voice.
"Awful?" Grace continued asking her.
"Well...." Scarlet hesitated. It had been such a long time since she cooked last time. She could cook instant noodles. But nothing more. It was Jason that cooked for her all these years. When Jason left her, she would order takeout food to get full. She never really spent time on cooking or learning to cook.
