You were told to build a tractor, but you're building a rocket?
Chapter 55 - 53: The Beginning of the New Year_1
"The United Nations Animal Protection Organization and the Environment Protection Organization condemn New Yuan Aerospace Power Company for its irresponsible and unnecessary space launch, accusing it of being contrary to the original ideals of space exploration and causing significant pollution to Qiongzhou Island and its surrounding seas..."
"The local government of Qiongzhou stated that the failure of the rocket launch is a common loss for mankind, and the international community should not kick someone while they’re down, and the aluminum alloy fragments of the rocket casing will be burned up by flames, not falling into the ocean and causing pollution..."
"Noon Horse" launch mission could be said to be the most "irresponsible" launch in the history of the aerospace industry, throwing over 20 million just to set off a grand fireworks display for the whole nation.
Animal protection organizations, which have long been dissatisfied with China’s Lunar New Year fireworks, immediately condemned the act and stated they would send investigators into the country. If pollution was indeed caused, they would protest with actual actions.
For international animal protection organizations, opposing high technology is an old tradition now; after all, tens of millions of Americans firmly believe that Bill Gates wants to control the world.
New Yuan official response: "Just you send your envoys, if they can get a pass to visit the island, I’ll concede defeat."
How many local supporting enterprises have been driven by a national launch site, a New Yuan Aerospace Launch Site, and what great economic benefits has it brought to Qiongzhou?
The leaders have said they want to build a new province with aerospace characteristics, right?
It’s interesting that Ma’s official domestic Weibo account, which typically acts like a forwarding machine, actually reposted the "Noon Horse" mission video and liked it...
International news continues:
The King of Abe Kingdom announced the construction of a "Future City" in Mukala, themed around the universe and planning to collect creative ideas to build a 1:1 scale spaceship building. The new city will accommodate 200,000 people for observatory experiences and a futuristic vibe, with an expected investment of 20 billion US Dollars, double the space program (Lin Ju & Aerospace angry);
specaX’s Falcon 9 suffered its first failure of the new year, with Ma criticized by Little Blue Bird users for being unrealistic and having inefficient management, leading to continuous failure in recovery technology,
Ma’s response was to announce the next seven Falcon 9 launch plans, as well as reiterating his presentation on future Mars landings;
NACA spokesperson claimed XAP has become the fourth-largest space agency in the world after NACA, CASA, and RSA. America’s aerospace industry is seriously lagging behind, and Congress should increase the "Artemis" moon mission budget to 100 billion US Dollars to meet the target on time amid intense competition;
America passed a bill to initiate comprehensive sanctions against New Yuan Aerospace Power and its partners. Abe announced the same day that it would withdraw its astronauts from the Russia Astronaut Training Center;
Another bunch of soldiers took a C17 transport plane to the empire’s graveyard;
Rusia Space Agency stated that the International Space Station’s lifespan is coming to an end, continuing to operate beyond its service life could pose safety risks, and they unveiled a new International Space Station plan (with Russia as the lead).
The focus shifts to domestic news:
A China aerospace exchange meeting is set to take place in March in Capital, with Aerospace Science and Technology, Aerospace Science and Industry Group attending. Also invited are a host of private aerospace enterprises: New Yuan Aerospace Power and two aerospace companies in Anhui Province that have only just registered and have only names;
A new round of support policies and subsidies for new energy vehicles was announced, with the following models declared for support, among them a small brand called Xin’an;
China Nuclear Group, China Broad Nuclear Group, and China Power Investment Corporation all rejected New Yuan’s request to purchase radioactive materials.
The last one has not been announced publicly—it was New Yuan itself who made the approach.
The nuclear thermal rocket engine needs radioactive material primarily made of uranium carbide, mixed and then fed into the channels with liquid hydrogen and other working mediums, heated and pressurized into high-energy gas for ejection, that’s the basic principle of the nuclear thermal rocket engine.
These nuclear materials need to be processed into specific shapes. In the domestic arena, besides military research institutes identified by numerical codes, only the three civilian nuclear giants—China Nuclear, China Broad Nuclear, and China Power Investment—are capable of handling and processing such materials.
All three of them received the purchase intention from New Yuan, and then decisively refused.
The reason... you guess.
Obviously, without the highest level of approval, these three companies would be seeking their own doom just by doing this business, and industries related to such sensitive materials require complex procedures for approval.
Of course, Lin Ju had anticipated this, but he didn’t expect the response to be so firm.
Therefore, he decided to prepare well for the aerospace exchange meeting in March. Through Tang Weitian, he had found out that this meeting was very important, and he would even have a seat in the first three rows.
If he could perform well, there might still be a chance.
...
Before leaving for Capital, Lin Ju in the company’s Research and Development department’s second office workshop, saw the first XW-9 turbofan engine based on WCR-09 disassembled pieces.
As a medium bypass ratio turbofan engine with a thrust close to 14 tons, the XW-9 weighs only 1220 kilograms.
Compared to Rusia’s main fighter jet Su27 and China’s J10, J11 using the AL31F engine, with a maximum thrust of 13.5 tons, weight 1530 kilograms.
The WCR-09 combined power engine, bought from the system mall, is a combination of a scramjet and a turbofan engine.
To reduce size and weight, the WCR-09 had to compromise on air intake, leading to an overall thrust of only about 9 tons, but it is indeed very compact. It could even be installed on an H1 without modification, adding two more engines without significantly affecting the performance.
By separating the turbofan part and fitting it with a casing, the performance of the XW-9 was fully unleashed.
And for the XW-10, a non-afterburning version designed for transport aircraft with a larger bypass ratio—due to the extensive modifications, it hasn’t started prototype manufacturing; they still wait for the design to be perfected.
However, high-altitude test stands are needed for turbofan engine development, which are also included in the B-level Base, but can only be used once the base is completed in June. The rollout of the two engines would definitely be delayed until the end of 2015.
But Lin Ju is very confident about both engines. These specifications are not only the international leading level of today, but even in 10 years, they will be top-tier in the world, especially the lower fuel consumption and high thrust of the XW-10. In a few years, the domestic engine WS20 used for the Y-20 could reach this level at most.
Additionally, Xin’an Automobile, a joint venture with Southern Automobile, is also in development. Right now, there is a Southern 2015 model being tested at the factory, where engineers will cooperate with Southern Automobile’s R&D personnel to adapt the new BMS system.
In terms of intelligent driving, the research institute is fully confident in the mature Ternary System, but again, they need to wait for the completion of the B-level Base to conduct experiments.
Lin Ju, looking at the domestic car models that exuded a sense of cheapness and plastic, kept shaking his head. He envisioned superior car models from a few years down the line, whose body designs would be much more sleek than those of the present. Not to mention joint venture vehicles, even mid-to-high-end imported cars may not necessarily compete. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
Lin Ju made a note to change the appearance of the cars in his memo. He then boarded a plane, heading straight for Capital.
