As everyone watched Lily swim back and forth in less than five minutes of the swimming lesson from Xiaoyun, they were all impressed.

"Never knew you were a good swim teacher," Yueyue complimented, her hand holding a paper plate with a burger on top. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

"Of course, I’m a good swimming teacher. I spent a whole month learning it to prepare for our honeymoon."

"What honeymoon are you talking about?"

Over at the glass door, Yuqi and Tianci finally came out of the house wearing a whole tracksuit and pants as if they were going for a run.

"A honeymoon after having you... A shame we went to a Sanya resort only to have your mother too scared to swim."

"Mom, how could you? There’s no way you went to Sanya with him and didn’t even go for a swim!"

As Nami looked back at Leyan with jealousy, both Yuqi’s and Yueyue’s faces suddenly froze as if they remembered something.

"Wait a moment... Mom, did you refuse to learn swimming because of the prank he pulled off on you in Hainan?" Yueyue suddenly asked.

"What? Absolutely not. I never knew how to swim because nobody wanted to teach me, that’s all."

"What prank are you guys talking about?" Kate curiously asked.

"You forgot the video? The one that Xiaoyun recorded on his camera as Songming? I remember you were here to watch it too."

"I did?"

As Kate closed her eyes and tried to remember it, she still struggled to find anything that came close to what she was talking about.

"Stop thinking about it," Leyan said with anger as she shook Kate’s arm over and over again.

"Okay, okay."

"Tianci, your burger," Anna murmured as she finished making a new burger on the paper plates.

"Thanks."

"I don’t think she should eat something so oily less than a month after her pregnancy." Shuli pointed out.

"It’s fine, it’s not like she’s eating BBQ every day," Leyan answered after Tianci looked over to her for permission.

"Leyan, come down to the pool with us. You want to prove that you aren’t scared of swimming, right?"

"I-I’m good. I already know how to swim."

The hint of nervousness from Leyan’s rejection made it abundantly clear as everyone let out a small chuckle.

"Sister Leyan, even I can swim. It can’t be that hard for you. I’m sure you can learn it even faster than I."

"Mom, come on. This is your one chance to prove that all the swimming lessons I taught you a year ago haven’t gone to waste."

"Fine. I’ll show you all I can swim."

Lily’s and Yuqi’s pressure finally got to Leyan as she quickly took off her blouse and jeans, revealing her white bra and panties underneath.

With a loud splash, Leyan’s entire body started to sink to the bottom before she kicked onto the floor.

The bounce didn’t last long as she struggled to remain above water until Xiaoyun finally decided to swim over to help.

"Relax, stop swinging your legs so hard. All you need to do is spread out your limbs. Your size is wide enough to float by itself."

As Leyan stopped panicking and followed his lesson, her head finally managed to stay above water.

"Wasn’t that hard, was it?"

"Shut up. You just called me fat, didn’t you——Mhm!"

Just as she tried to complain, her body lost balance for a second, causing her head to sink underneath the water once again.

"Stop talking and focus on floating."

"Pfff, Mom is such a bad swimmer." Nami jokingly said out loud as everyone else chuckled alongside her.

"Hey, I wouldn’t be talking if you’re outside the pool. Nami, do you know how to swim?" Xiaoyun questioned back.

"Of course, I know how to swim. Let me prove it to you right now."

Watching Nami take off her clothes and jump right into the pool, both Kate and Anna let out a small chuckle as the coldness immediately caused a reaction.

"Ah! The water is so cold!"

"It’s not that cold once you get used to it, sister Nami."

As Lily swims past Nami and goes for another lap, Leyan has finally managed to float without sinking at all.

"Okay, now start swimming your hand. Just imagine—"

"I know what to do. I just haven’t swum for so long." Leyan argued, her face looking a little red from embarrassment.

"Okay then."

Xiaoyun quickly moved aside, letting her go free on her own as he watched her swim to the other side in a single breath.

"You two! I did it! I told you I know how to swim!" Leyan yelled as she held onto the ledge on the other side of the pool.

"Try swimming back and forth without stopping. We’ll admit it and apologize for discrediting you."

"Hey, I didn’t say I was going to apologize," Yuqi murmured, her mouth busy eating the burger that Anna had made for her.

"Trust me. Leyan can’t swim back and forth in a single breath like this."

As everyone watched Leyan swim back from the end side, she managed to perfectly swim back to the beginning.

"Keep going, you need to reach the end again."

Leyan didn’t say anything back. She kicked her feet off the edge of the pool as she swam towards the other side.

"Looks like you got it wrong."

"Just wait."

With every stroke and kick, Leyan was getting closer and closer. But her lower body suddenly started to sink down.

"Mhm!——Help!"

"I’m coming."

Xiaoyun quickly swam across to the other side, helping her stay above as she kept on spitting water out of her mouth.

"Fuck! I was so close!"

"You need to turn your head to the side to breathe and time your hand stroke. Stop trying to breathe with only your head up.

Your chest is too compressed to breathe unless you get used to swimming. Look at Lily, she didn’t blindly copy me and took my lesson to heart."

Slowly, Xiaoyun helped Leyan back over to the ledge. Her face blushing red, unable to speak up from the embarrassment.

"Mom, you can’t just brute force swimming like that. Even I know about it." Yueyue murmured.

"Rookie mistake," Yuqi added.

"Stop rubbing salt on Leyan’s wound. Give her some respect. At least she’s swimming on a cold day, unlike some people."

"Thank you, Shuli."

Just as Leyan swam up to the edge of the pool, the phone in Xiaoyun’s pile of clothes suddenly started beeping with a sharp sound.

"What the hell is that noise?"

Kate was the first to check as she picked his phone out of his pocket. But soon, she stood still with Xiaoyun’s phone in her hand.

"Kate?"

"Shit shit shit!"

The panicked expression both alerted and confused everyone. But Kate’s answer only made them even more confused.

"What’s wrong?" Anna questioned.

"T-There’s a nuke!"

As soon as she finished talking, almost every single one of their phone immediately started beeping with the same sharp noise.

"The hell?"

All three of them quickly got out of the pool as everyone who was out of the pool holding their own phone looked just as shocked as Kate.

Xiaoyun could see the message as he snatched his phone back. It was an emergency broadcast message.

One had clearly been implemented before the outbreak. A nuclear detection that he never even knew existed.

"Shit shit shit, all of you get inside the basement first."

"Basement?"

The confused expression on a few of his wives’ faces was answered with an entrance opening next to the hot tub.

A long, dark staircase down to seemingly nowhere, with the inside was pitch black, and had no end in sight.

"Nami, you remember the password, right?"

"Yeah."

"I need you to bring everyone inside... What are you all standing here for then? Go take the babies and get inside."

As his wives finally started moving to get the babies, Anna stood still, looking back at Xiaoyun scrolling through his phone.

"Xiaoyun, where are you going?"

"Someone has to check the situation. I’m going to be fine. Trust me, I’ll go down when it does happen."

Before Anna could speak up again, his other wives had finally brought their babies from inside the house.

"Okay, go downstairs. I’ll be there with you guys soon."

"Wait, where are you going?" Yuqi immediately questioned, not

"I’m going to check if it is just a false alarm. Trust me, I’m going to be fine. Nuclear fallout won’t do shit to me."

Xiaoyun could see the hesitation on their faces, but he gave an eye signal to Leyan, who quickly chimed in with her decision.

"Come on, let’s move it. Honey can make a hazmat suit for himself if things go south. We need to go now before it’s too late."

"I’m going with you—"

"Stop being stupid. Listen to Leyan. Yueyue, drag your sister inside."

Yueyue hesitated for a second about whether she wanted to go as well, but she eventually dragged Yuqi down the dark staircase.

After seeing them disappear out of sight, Xiaoyun pressed the button again as the staircase closed.

"Surely this is a false alarm..."

Before Xiaoyun could scroll down his contact on his phone, it suddenly started beeping again.

But this time, it was a phone call.
