Zombie Bodyguard
Chapter 1833 - 1830: Professor Li
"Lin Tian, you seem to be from Xikou City as well. To be honest, I initially came for that ancient corpse, but unfortunately, there were some issues. The ancient corpse actually disappeared, and to this day, there isn’t a single clue. I guess this will be an unsolvable mystery in archaeological history." Professor Hu shook his head in lament, looking very regretful.
An unsolvable mystery? I already know the answer, but I can’t tell you. Lin Tian thought to himself.
"However, even though I didn’t see the ancient corpse, there’s still some gain. I collected some biological samples from the ancient tomb; perhaps I can get some useful information." Professor Hu looked full of anticipation.
Lin Tian’s heart stirred, and he asked, "What kind of biological samples?"
"It might be hard to believe, but it’s insects too. They’re purple, very strange, and very perfect," Professor He said, looking very peculiar.
However, he didn’t say much more. After giving a mysterious smile, he turned around and walked into the life science laboratory. Lin Tian looked at He Jianhua with a gaze asking, "What did Professor Hu mean?"
"Don’t worry about him; Old Hu is just like that. If he said cockroaches are perfect creatures, that kind of opinion would probably get you young folks to mock him to death. Don’t hold any beautiful illusions about what he calls perfect." Professor He shook his head in helplessness.
"Oh, Professor Hu’s thinking is quite unique." Lin Tian said indifferently.
The three quickly entered the building. With two professors vouching for him, Lin Tian naturally had a smooth passage.
However, when scanning fingerprints to take the elevator through the special passage, He Jianhua still said, "It seems I should help you get a pass, otherwise it will be very troublesome for you to enter and exit the building each time, considering you are also a member of the project team."
Lin Tian just smiled and didn’t take it seriously. The life science laboratory building is much more advanced than the one belonging to the Xiao Family, not necessarily in terms of technological level but because this experimental building is national-level and not just anyone can pass through it freely.
However, when taking the elevator this time, what puzzled Lin Tian was that instead of going up, it went down directly to the negative third floor.
Seemingly noticing Lin Tian’s confusion, He Jianhua explained, "After the last incident, the biological samples have been transferred to the laboratory below. This way, even if something happens, the entire lower floor can be sealed off."
Exiting the elevator, the layout of the negative third floor seemed no different from upstairs. But Lin Tian knew this was just what he could see on the surface.
In terms of protection level, it was definitely higher than upstairs, at least for personnel. It was very sparse, unlike the upstairs laboratory, where you could see staff walking back and forth.
"The degree of automation here is higher, with a higher level of protection. The entire underground laboratory is managed by an intelligent system." Professor He introduced.
"Aren’t you afraid of artificial intelligence rebelling?" Lin Tian joked half-heartedly.
The two professors laughed and shook their heads, "You young people must have watched the movie Resident Evil a lot. Actually, even in Resident Evil movies, it’s the Umbrella Corporation secretly controlling the intelligent system; artificial intelligence shouldn’t take the blame."
"Of course, even if there’s only a one in a billion chance of such a situation, we’ve considered it. The laboratory has another control system that operates independently of the intelligent system, and most of it is manually controlled. In critical moments, mechanical seems more reliable than electronic." Professor He explained.
As they introduced, they walked, and the two professors stopped outside a laboratory. Once they scanned their fingerprints to enter, there was no experimental equipment visible; instead, there were various display screens.
In front of a large screen stood two people. Upon hearing the sound, they turned around, and Lin Tian froze. One was the gray-haired Jiang Xiu Ying, but the surprise was not her—it was the other woman.
With black hair, a pretty face, fair skin, even wearing a loose lab coat, her tall figure could still be seen. At first glance, she appeared to be a young, beautiful woman of around thirty.
"Li..." Lin Tian looked at this ageless goddess and almost exclaimed aloud to shout "Granny Li."
But she had already quickly said, "Lin Tian, long time no see."
Indeed, the thirty-something beautiful woman before him was Li Qingyun, but her actual age wasn’t as it appeared. Of course, compared to Charlotte, who was over a thousand years old, it was no longer odd.
Lin Tian wondered why she appeared in the laboratory, seemingly hiding her real identity—could it be arranged by Ning Luoxi? Lin Tian thought to himself.
Looking at He Jianhua and Hu Yang’s expressions, it seemed they were also seeing Li Qingyun for the first time.
Lin Tian paused for a moment, then reacted, shaking Li Qingyun’s hand, "Sister Li... Long time no see."
With a significant effort, Lin Tian managed to utter "Sister Li," and Li Qingyun’s eyes also showed a smile.
"You know each other?" Jiang Xiu Ying was slightly surprised.
"We’ve met at Xiao Group’s laboratory," quickly replied Li Qingyun, preventing Lin Tian from speaking uncontrollably. Yet Lin Tian merely nodded, saying nothing more, not knowing how Li Qingyun entered, saying more would be more likely to err.
"Li Qingyun, an expert in the field of insect research, has just become a guest professor at our school, and she’s also involved in research on Miao Border Gu technique," Jiang Xiu Ying formally introduced.
Involved only? Lin Tian raised an eyebrow. Li Qingyun is originally a Gu Cultivator; being involved is an understatement—mastery wouldn’t be an exaggeration. It seems Li Qingyun has hidden much.
Upon hearing Li Qingyun’s involvement in Gu technique, Professors Hu and He weren’t too surprised. As experts in the field of biology, they naturally understood that Gu technique isn’t a fictitious concept but a real existence.
"This time, the parasite shares many similarities with Gu technique. With Professor Li’s arrival, surely we can find breakthroughs in research." Professor Hu said with great anticipation.
"Old Hu, didn’t you say you had some findings? Take them out for us to see; maybe they can help with the research." Professor He reminded.
Professor Hu took off the backpack from behind himself, then took out a box the size of a notebook, a black box of unknown material.
Professor Hu pressed a button on the top of the box, and a small lid slid open, revealing a small green screen. He pressed his thumb on the screen.
Beep, beep, beep...
The box made a scanning sound; it turned out to be a fingerprint-recognized safe box, implying something very important was inside.
With a click, the box automatically opened, and inside were three fist-sized bottles, all black, obscuring their contents.
"What’s inside, sealed so tightly?" Lin Tian curiously asked.
"Don’t ask, quickly change into protective gear; we’re heading into the operation room." Professor Hu continued to keep the suspense.
Not having a choice, they went to change clothes. Once everyone was gathered in the operation room, Professor Hu finally placed the bottles into a sealed incubator.
