Chapter 255: Zorvax’s New Fortress

Perched upon his throne, Zorvax gazed out towards the distant city of Ascendara, a slight smile playing on his lips. "So, that is the city housing the Ascendant with the holy element," he mused aloud, his voice tinged with both curiosity and amusement. "The only Ascendant capable of killing zombies."

As the undead army and Zorvax approached Ascendara, the tension in the air was palpable. The city, now in sight, bristled with defenses and anticipation. Zorvax, observing the preparations, chuckled softly. "Impressive," he remarked, his eyes scanning the city’s fortifications.

After a brief pause, Zorvax rose from his throne with an elegant, almost serpentine movement. His gesture was deliberate, a clear signal to his undead legion that the moment for action had arrived. With a swift, fluid motion, he propelled himself into the sky, soaring towards a strategic location near Ascendara.

As Zorvax hovered mid-air, a look of fierce determination mixed with a confident smile adorned his face. He stretched out his hands, palms facing the vast expanse before him. Focusing deeply, he began to summon his formidable ability, Cybernetic Nexus. The air around him started to shimmer with a sinister energy, dark and potent. It crackled and whirled, as if responding to an invisible conductor’s baton, directed by Zorvax’s will.

Suddenly, the energy surged, converging into a single point in the sky. With a dramatic flourish, Zorvax’s hands moved in a complex pattern, manipulating the swirling dark energy with precise control. The atmosphere vibrated with the power of his skill, a low hum resonating through the air.

Before the astonished eyes of both his army below and the wary defenders on the walls of Ascendara, an imposing structure began to take shape. The dark energy solidified, materializing into the form of a massive, dark fortress.

Its design was sleek and modern, almost alien in appearance, with sharp angles and a menacing aura. The fortress, reminiscent of the one in the Death Land, was a physical manifestation of Zorvax’s immense power and technological mastery.

The sight of the fortress appearing out of thin air was awe-inspiring and terrifying in equal measure. It stood in stark contrast to the ancient walls of Ascendara, symbolizing the clash of old and new, of traditional power against a dark, futuristic force. As it fully materialized, the fortress cast a long, ominous shadow, a foreboding sign of the siege to come.

Eldric, his figure prominent against the backdrop of Ascendara’s defenses, stared at the structure in sheer disbelief. "Impossible..." he whispered, more to himself than anyone else. His hand instinctively reached up to brush his forehead, a gesture betraying his deep concern.

Turning to a fellow Ascendant standing nearby, Eldric voiced his thoughts, seeking validation. "Look at that monstrosity. Could Zorvax be... a Tier 5?" His words trailed off, the idea seeming almost too far-fetched even as he said it.

The other Ascendant, equally transfixed by the sight, shook his head slowly. "Tier 5? But you, Eldric, have been at the pinnacle of Tier 4 for a decade without crossing that threshold. How could he?"

Eldric, his gaze still locked on the fortress, nodded slightly. "You’re right," he said, his voice carrying a mix of reluctance and logic. "It’s more plausible that he’s at the peak of Tier 4, perhaps with some unique mechanical ability to construct something of this scale so quickly."

His hand, previously on his forehead, dropped to his side as he turned to address the gathered soldiers. "Regardless of his tier, that fortress poses a significant threat. We must be prepared for what’s coming."

As Eldric turned back to view the fortress, his expression hardened. The uncertainty in his eyes was replaced by a steely resolve. "Whatever tier he may be, we will face him with all our might," he declared, a firm conviction in his voice. "Ascendara has stood for centuries. We will not falter now."

The soldiers, who had been watching their leader for guidance, straightened up, their faces set with determination. Eldric’s words, though filled with uncertainty, also carried a tone of leadership and resolve that bolstered their spirits.

The Tier 1 and 2 guards, stationed along the city’s defenses, readied themselves for combat. They were well-trained and courageous, but the sight of the advancing zombie horde was daunting. The soldiers gripped their weapons tighter, steeling themselves for the onslaught.

The battle commenced with the first wave of Tier 1 and 2 zombies clashing against Ascendara’s guards. The sound of metal clashing, shouts, and the groans of zombies filled the air. The guards fought bravely, their swords and spears moving in a coordinated rhythm, fending off the undead with determination.

Despite the zombies’ relentless advance, the city’s defenders held their ground. Archers positioned on the ramparts rained down arrows, while mages cast spells, sending waves of fire and ice crashing into the enemy ranks.

On the ground, the melee was intense. The guards, bolstered by the presence of the Tier 4 Ascendants, pushed back against the zombies. The holy bracelets given by Eldric proved effective, their light cutting through the darkness and weakening the undead.

Eldric, moving through the battlefield, provided support where needed. His greatsword cleaved through zombies, each strike precise and deadly. Aria, using her abilities, bolstered the strength and resilience of her fellow soldiers, her presence a beacon of hope.

Marcellus, his Thunder Armor crackling with energy, was a force of nature. He moved through the zombies, his strikes thunderous, leaving a trail of destruction in his wake.

Meanwhile Zorvax in his throne only looked at the battle and smiled unknowingly. He was now enjoying the sight of the war between the ascendants and the zombies. Eventhough it was only tier 1 and tier 2 fights but it had been a long time for Zorvax to saw this kind of entertainment.

The battle raged on, the defenders of Ascendara matching the ferocity of the undead. The clash was a testament to the strength and bravery of the city’s protectors. Despite the overwhelming numbers, the soldiers’ morale remained high, their faith in their leaders unshaken.
