Its skin, full of sharp edges and deep cracks, makes it look more like a jagged statue than a living tree.

Its eyes were glowing in bright green which stared right down at Aegon. Its hands end in long, sharp claws that looked like it could snap a branch, or anything else, in half.

Its head was crowned with a mess of thick leafless branches that reached out like horns, with just a bit of green at the very top.

The way it stood, with its heavy trunk-like legs and wide shoulders, made it look like it was guarding the forest and wasn’t about to let the human standing before it pass.

The tree giant didn’t look friendly at all, but like a living warrior part of the woods who was ready to fight and defend its home.

It let out a loud cry as it raised one of its hands and struck it down towards Aegon.

Seeing this, Aegon leaped and dodged the attack of the monster which landed on the ground causing dust and particles of leaves and branches to scatter.

Aegon jumped over the monster even though it had a massive height, and landed on the ground. Then he saw the system before him.

Aegon saw the quest and was completely baffled, he had just landed on the ground with both hands, while his trench coat dropped down with his movement.

The tree giant began to turn around but before it could make a full turn, Aegon had already leaped and jumped over it again.

He landed on the other side of the tree giant. At this very moment, the tree giant had just turned to where Aegon had first landed, but didn’t see him there.

But that wasn’t the case, the tree giant, that is a treant, was the guardian of the forest, they were neither dumb nor clueless, but very wise and long-lived.

However, they had just one major flaw that is, they were slow-moving. They had all that wisdom and life expanse but very slow which would make them prone to death.

Although, killing them was nearly impossible because they had a very significant health and nature regeneration.

Aegon, knowing nothing of these, thought of it as just mindless, but still had it at the back of his mind that the system had called it the guardian of the forest.

The guardian was about to turn again but this time Aegon didn’t jump over it, but stayed right where he stood and gazed at the guardian.

The guardian had bright green eyes with an expression that showed it was vex. It had been toyed with by a mere human.

However, it wasn’t going to let this human live long, as it was about to show why it is called the guardian of the Forest of Aranyani.

The system hovered at the side of Aegon, displaying his current quest and how much time he had left.

A minute had already passed and so he knew there was time to waste. Although the system didn’t add a penalty upon failure, Aegon knew otherwise.

At this moment, he noticed the right hand of the guardian being lifted upwards, but it wasn’t towards him.

Not just its right hand but also its left. The guardian lifted both hands sideways and just then they both stretched out longer than initial.

The hands of the guardian which were made of branches flowed out in a curly way and began to expand forward from its body into the forest.

Aegon saw this and didn’t make an expression of surprise. He didn’t expect to see something like this, but nevertheless, he made no expression out of it.

He was on his guard and anything that came shouldn’t be a surprise; it was something he had thought himself since he started his journey.

Both hands of the guardian had already reached a certain point in the forest, then it brought them together, aiming to crush this human.

Aegon heard the noise it made within the trees as they approached, he could have easily gone for the kill but didn’t.

At this moment, the long branch hands had already come out and were about to hit him, when suddenly he jumped and they both collided together and fell to the ground.

Seeing this, Aegon dropped to the ground, standing on its hands. The guardian felt it and let out a loud cry.

GRRR!!!

It began to raise its hands up an Aegon was feeling it rise, he nearly fell from the movement, but with both hands together they felt comfortable and able to stand on

Seeing that the guardian was about to make another move, Aegon started running on its hands towards its face.

Aegon, who was still on the ground, saw as the first half of the guardian’s face dropped in front of him.

He had killed the guardian. Or so he thought.

Aegon was puzzled as he saw the window before him.

They began to hear noises from behind. This made him stand on his feet, and turned around.

There, he saw the guardian’s head growing; as multiple branches were rising from within.

Then, they dashed towards him but he immediately dodged it. However, it was going for him.

These branches reached for the fallen half of the guardian’s face which Aegon had cut off, and upon impact they both joined together.

The branch moved back to the guardian’s body, rose, and attached to its top; forming back the head, once again.

Aegon saw this, and was unable to keep his straight expression; he was baffled
