100X Return System: My Talent Awakening Becomes a God-Level Cheat - Chapter 45: The Forest
Two blasts, which was good and which was bad?
The question hung in Aegon’s heart as he thought of this. Obviously, the first blast was intended to kill him.
Therefore, it wasn’t a good one. Although, the blast that came afterwards wasn’t directed to him but the monster. Were they helping him?
"Don’t be ridiculous. Of course not. The monster damaged a part of the forest and it is probably getting back at it, right?"
It was obvious what was going on and Aegon had already begun to analyze it, but still had some questions left unanswered. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
"Who are they?"
He had his gaze at the serpent which had just gotten a massive hole on its chest, body. There was healing from such a wound.
However, after it had been hit, the monster dived back into the ocean as though using its last strength with a strong will to survive.
Aegon had seen the monster as it went back into the ocean; water splashed as it jumped right in, but it didn’t look intentional.
"I guess, I don’t have to fight it after all."
A stroll of sweat fell down at his side, as he instantly cleaned it and wiped off his face with his hand.
After the monster’s body had fully entered the ocean, the spiral rotation at the center stopped, and the entire ocean came to a calm.
"Strange."
Aegon had his gaze on the ocean for a couple of seconds, then he turned to the forest.
The multiple green lights where the blast had come from, had just faded from the forest as if nothing ever happened.
He could barely even tell where exactly the blast came from or which part of the forest was burnt a whole ago, because all the trees looked the same with the same height and size.
But, even with all these, he still managed to pinpoint the exact location where the blast had come from.
"What the..."
Upon looking at a certain area of the forest, his eyes met with a glowing figure standing at the entrance of the forest.
It was beaming with green lights portraying the image of a young child.
He couldn’t believe what he was seeing and blinked twice. After he had done that, the individual gave him a particular gaze with a smile and entered the forest.
Seeing this, Aegon quickly got up to his feet since he had fallen when he dodged the sea serpent blast earlier.
He got up from the sand, busted his back and began speed walking towards that area of the forest.
As he got there, he saw a small sized circular hole possible for him to fit through. It was carved in a circular shape with various branches and leaves tangled together as if intended to be a door, welcoming him.
He saw this door space and felt a strange energy in his heart. He tried peeping, by bending his head to look inside, but couldn’t see anything except darkness.
"Looks like I have to really go in."
He placed his hands on the side of the tangled branches and leaves shaped door, bent his head, and entered the forest.
As soon as he entered, a great view appeared before him, it was beautiful, yet menacing.
As soon as he entered fully, the door shaped instantly closed and the branches grew back together.
Aegon saw this, and knew there was no way to go back out, so he turned to the forest since all he could do was move forward.
The trees were thick dark green and the shadow felt as though they were closing in.
He looked up, the leaves and branches were so thick it was very hard to spot the sky, except for that one large spot where the moon peeked through.
The blood moon casted down a cold, thin red glow that made the fog of the forest spooky and the trees look like tall dark shapes.
It is so dim that the space between the trunks just looked like deep holes, making the whole place feel like a dark tunnel.
The trees were packed tight, with huge mossy trunks that blocked everything out. He could barely see the sky because the branches were so thick overhead, and the ground was covered in bushes and ferns that crowded the tiny path.
The entire place felt so quiet and still like the forest was just too heavy and crowded for any air to move, yet a single voice echoed through.
It was the voice of a little child, the voice chuckled, and Aegon heard it, moving his gaze to where it was.
There, the little child stood in white, they were far, in the distance but could still be seen, as they were on top of a tree branch.
He quickly began to follow the figure as it moved further and further, deeper into the forest.
Aegon didn’t know at first that he had already gone so deep within the forest. At this moment, if he was to turn around to go back, he wouldn’t remember where he had come from.
He continued to move forward and as he moved he heard nothing but the single voice of the child.
No animal, nor insects whatsoever could be heard or seen.
’What is this place?’ he thought inwardly. ’It looks so dead and empty of life.’
He looked around for a form of life, but didn’t see a single creature.
’This is a forest, right?’
At this point, he had already reached a certain point in the forest and as he gazed upwards he saw the child at the other side of the forest.
Where he stood and where the child stood was divided by an unusual stream of water. It flowed backwards as though the settings were made wrong.
Aegon had his gaze on the stream of water as it flowed upwards instead of downwards. Instead of it flowing normally, from right to left, it flowed from left to right.
"That’s just not right."
The voice of the child echoed again with another chuckle as though to signify him, yet it drew his attention.
He looked upwards and was startled. The figure at this very moment didn’t have that bright smile they had before, but now a frown.
They looked at him with watery eyes as a single tear rolled down their face, and landed on the ground, he noticed this.
The figure didn’t move and only stared at Aegon; he knew what they meant.
At that moment, he took a few steps backwards, then ran forward, and jumped over the stream.
After he had handed, he could feel the moisture of the bushes, as they nearly had him fall to the ground, but he was able to hold himself, standing.
He then looked up to the child, however, they were gone. Nowhere to be found.
"What?"
Aegon looked around but couldn’t and didn’t find the child. The bright light which it had, and was able to pinpoint was no longer visible.
It was as if it had vanished, or worse; he imagined the whole thing and there was no child or voices to begin with.
"What is really going on...?"
As the words left his lips, a strange sound was heard as though something or someone had stepped on a tree branch on the ground.
Upon hearing this, Aegon quickly turned around, but there was nothing there. He didn’t see anything nor anyone.
He had the dagger in his hand, as he stood on guard to defend, if it was to be a creature or monster.
Just then, a massive tree walked out of the shadows, towering behind Aegon. He quickly felt the shadow casting above him and turned around.
There, he saw a tree giant; a treant, standing at his front. Then, it opened its mouth, and cried out.
GRRRRR!!!
