Chapter 77: Castle of the Undefeated [2]

The chamber was empty and half broken, because of the [Cannon Spatial Blast] Aegon had used easier.

Debris fell and the dust of concrete filled the entire area.

Aegon had run inside looking for the voices of the humans but they were not in that place, yet he could still hear their voices.

The chamber led Aegon to a staircase that went down to the lower levels of the castle.

There were no monsters around because of the chaos that was occurring at this part of the outer castle, yet some noises of them running around could still be heard.

Aegon made sure he wasn’t seen or followed and went down the staircase.

The staircase walls were lit by torches of fire in a metal stick. They was about two on each side after every five steps.

After going deep down, covering over thirty-five steps, he came down and turned to his left where there was a room with lights around.

Aegon turned, the voices louder and clear but in that exact moment suddenly stopped.

’What happened? Were they gotten before I did’

Aegon knew that the administrator was taking awakeners and using them for his research, so he knew that he would obviously have some still alive.

And according to what Chrome had told him and also the disappearance of Chrome, he was certain of this.

Why would he have separated Chrome from him?

Was it because of their strengths differences?

No.

Chrome had already been captured once and escaped, and since he was still a useful research entity for the administrator, he was captured again.

Now, of course the administrator was not able to use all the awakeners he captured all at once.

They were some that would have obviously put one a fight and since he was a man of good will, he would save them for last.

’This I am certain that off, and if Nyra and the others were captured, they surely would have put up a fight and been sent here.’

That was indeed true and Aegon knew it. Although Chrome was a different matter, he had no idea what they would do to him since he was a runaway.

While he was walking calmly, he began to wear voices speaking, but they were low, like they were whispering.

He didn’t know what that was, but had assumed that some monsters would have gotten them.

With this, he held his sword, and walked slowly and gently, then he turned to his left.

Before him was a large cage about the size of a small bedroom. Inside were humans who were on the ground,

their face down, hands over their heads as if in fear of what was coming for them.

Aegon saw these humans shaking as he stepped forward, they dared not to stand and look.

Then he realized that it was because of the sound of his shoes, which was the reason they could feel the approach of someone,

and felt fear of it being a monster or worse the old man.

The place was lit with the torches of flames as they danced in the wind of the chaos going on above.

Aegon dismissed the sword in his hand as it disappeared, stored inside the system.

Then walking slowly he reached the cage and placed his hand on the bars of the cage

’pisss!’

The sound left his lips, but the human who was on the ground only shook in fear.

He did it again and got no response.

Meanwhile, there was a girl on the ground inside the cage, who could see the feet of the person standing at the front of the cage through her arms.

The girl tilted her head but didn’t make it noticeable for the person standing to know.

The girl did this because she didn’t recognize the shoe and also the size of the leg.

In her thoughts, she saw that this person had human feet and therefore was a human. But so was the old man, he also looked like a human but shorter and had pointy ears.

Yet, the thing that thrilled her was that the old man’s feet were much bigger than this, and this was a small, more reasonable size.

The girl knew obviously that the only person who ever came down here and wasn’t a monster was the old man, and there haven’t been any others.

So who was this?

The question lingered in her heart, she wanted to raise her head and take a look even if it was just a glance, yet she couldn’t.

It was too scary to do so because of the fear in her heart.

Aegon could see this person trying to take a glance at him but was stopped by the fear in them.

However, at that moment, a name was called.

"Aegon?"

The words flew into Aegon’s ears, entering his brain and processing right, instinctively turning to his left to see who it was that called his name.

"Aegon, is that you?"

The voice asked again, and the girl who couldn’t raise her head because of fear, when she heard this raised her head.

Aegon’s eyes were fixed at the person who called his name, with a straight expression and he said.

"Nyra?"

"Yes." Nyra nodded.

Nyra was also inside the cage but at a far end of it. Her head was raised and the first moment was the only one whose head was raised up.

She looked thin, very thin, like her life was already almost sucked out of her.

Yet, she had a straight and determined expression. The expression indicates that with all she had gone through, she was still unbroken and not devoured by the weight of hopelessness.

At the moment, she was no longer the only one that had her head up, the other girl who was in fear already had her likewise.

"A-Aegon."

Aegon turned his head to the girl in front of him, who was now on her feet and looking straight at him in the eyes.

He called; "Sheila?"

Sheila already had tears in her eyes and was already crying, her voice almost reaching the ceiling.

She didn’t have an unbroken spirit, but a fragile and light one. The tears she was crying were that of joy, just by seeing Aegon’s face.

Nyra looking at him asked, "How did you get here?"

Aegon’s attention turned back to her, moving towards her direction, while saying.

"It doesn’t matter, You all need to leave this place now."

At this moment, all the other humans inside the cage had already raised their heads up and were staring at him.

Some with puzzled expressions, wondered who he was, while others who already knew who he was, were surprised and amazed at the same time.

Yet, no words came out of their lips.

Aegon stepped to the front of Nyra, his gaze and her gaze locked together.

Nyra’s lips curved up and formed a slight smile which she hadn’t done in a while and had almost forgotten how to.

Upon seeing, Aegon place hands on the bar of the cage which had the object that was used to lock, preventing them from leaving.

He knew he didn’t have a key, and couldn’t use his sword because it was too long and might go overboard.

’If I had my dagger I could infuse mana into it and break this lock.’

He had thought this in his heart and just then, an idea jumped in.

’Hold on, I should be able to use my physical strength to break it right?’

Knowing this he said; "Step back."

Nyra moved backwards a little, and at this moment every person’s eyes were on him, wondering what he was about to do.

Aegon wrapped his fingers, each on a single bar that were close to each other.

There was a small space between the bars, but Aegon strengthened his muscles, pushing them away from each other, and creating a large space wide enough for more than a person to fit through.

"Where are the others, wher-"

Before he could finish his question, Nyra suddenly moved forward, opened her hands, wrapped them over, and hugged him.
