Chapter 19: A Hero Who Kills

A man sat inside a dark room lit only by the glow of several monitors.

Sweat rolled down the man’s forehead as he stared at the live CCTV feed.

’I knew the Association would eventually come for us...’

His thoughts were a complete mess.

Business had been going smoothly. They only took a few girls from time to time.

Then that bastard showed up.

And now the Association had finally noticed them.

The frantic whimpers coming from the back of the room only made his headache worse.

He shot a sharp glare at the girls huddled together at the back of the room, "Keep quiet!" He yelled, causing them to flinch, tightly curling up together.

He shifted his gaze back to the monitor, deep worry etched on his face, ’These brats are using our men to cause trouble with the Association...’

The man gnashed his teeth.

’If another hero dies, there’s no way they’ll overlook this anymore... but what choice do I have?’

He could already feel a headache building up.

"Are they dead?" The man flinched hearing the deep croaked voice from the earpiece.

"N-not yet, sir... b-but they will be," he stuttered.

His gaze quickly shifted back toward the monitor.

Armed guards were already marching into the tavern.

Guns ready.

’There’s no way they’re escaping from this.’

In the main hall of the brothel, Nicholas stood with Selena, a deep frown on his face as the men held up their weapons.

"Shit," he muttered as his hands quickly slipped into a pocket, in the last second he tossed out a small ball.

It fell to the ground exploding spreading out a thick layer of gas covering the entire space.

Selena felt a powerful grip on her hands as he dragged her straight to a corner of the tavern.

The muzzle flashes from the guns were all that illuminated the room.

With the sounds of guns and bullets going off, people in the area quickly started running and hiding.

The bullets ripped through the entire place in seconds, leaving holes through the entire room.

Slowly the bullets came to a stop as the cloud of smoke fell.

"This mission is dangerous... We need reinforcements," Selena said, catching her breath behind the wall.

Her eyes shifted toward the tavern.

"There’s an Impure here... and it doesn’t feel like a low-level one."

Nicholas barely paid attention to her warning.

His eyes remained fixed on the enemies ahead.

Meanwhile, Selena’s thoughts remained elsewhere.

’How is he this skilled? Is this also a part of his abilities?’ she had been looking down on Nicholas since he wanted to join the association, but time and time again he always turned out to prove himself.

{Ding!}

{Your audience are stunned and left in admiration!}

{+10 charm points}

’More Charm Points?’

Nicholas’ eyes narrowed slightly.

The only times he’d earned points were during fights. And both times, people had been watching him.

’So impressing people through combat gives me more points...’

Nicholas’ grip tightened slightly.

’Interesting.’

And what better time to get the points than now?

Selena still had her mind filled with thoughts, ’He’s definitely not weak, and his abilities seem to go further than just cancelling out people’s abilities... Sir Eric will have to learn of this in my next report... but let’s get out of here first’ Selena thought, her gaze shifting to the guards.

"We have to leave" she urged, trying to drag Nicholas along with her but he didn’t budge in the slightest.

"Supervisor, I’m afraid I don’t leave my missions incomplete... That said, this mission ends here. And I can’t promise that I’ll be keeping anyone alive."

"What? Wai—?!"

Before Selena could finish, Nicholas bolted out from cover.

The guards instantly turned toward him.

Guns raised.

Nicholas’ hand slipped into his pocket.

Fwip—

Another smoke grenade flew across the room.

BOOM!

Thick smoke exploded outward once again, covering the tavern.

Without a thought, Nicholas threw all ten charm points to his agility stats.

At the same time, bullets came raining towards his direction.

Watching from the monitor in the room, the man let out a sigh, "That should’ve done it"

He spoke too soon as a loud shout echoed through the tavern.

"What’s going on?" The man sat up, his brows knitting. He couldn’t see anything on the camera thanks to the gas that filled the room, he quickly switched the camera to another.

But the moment the camera switched, the man’s blood ran cold.

One of the guards was screaming violently.

A dagger had pierced straight through his hand...

Pinning it directly to the rifle beneath.

It wasn’t just him, Selena’s eyes widened as she saw the scene.

The second guard closest to him was about to react, but Nicholas was already in front of him.

A red glint flashed through the smoke.

Stab.

The dagger sank deep into the guard’s shoulder.

The other guards went into a frenzy.

Their guns raining bullets towards him.

The moment the bullets came raining toward him, Nicholas grabbed the stabbed guard by the collar and yanked the body upward.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Bullets tore straight into the corpse.

Nicholas walked forward behind it calmly, using the body like a shield.

Once he got close enough, he tossed the corpse aside.

Another guard raised his gun, but Nicholas moved first.

Fwip—

The dagger shot through the air like a dart.

Thunk.

It buried itself straight into the man’s chest.

"AAAHHH!"

The guard screamed as the pain instantly snapped him out of the mental control. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

Confusion filled his face.

But before he could even process what was happening—A large boot slammed straight into his face.

"He’s killing them? Is that guy a hero?!" The man in the monitor room sat up, feeling cold sweat drop down his spine.

But his eyes never left the monitor.

Not even once.

It was almost as though he feared that if he blinked, whatever monster was on that screen would suddenly appear right in front of him.

Draco had spent years in the mafia world.

He’d seen killers.

Mercenaries.

Psychopaths.

And he could tell, there was something about the way Nicholas moved that felt completely wrong for a hero.

"Draco... my puppet died."The deep croaked voice echoed through the earpiece,"What’s happening?"

The man watching the monitor swallowed hard, "Sir... I don’t think that’s a hero."

"What do you mean by that"

Draco’s breath hitched.

The lobby had gone completely silent.

Bodies littered the floor beneath the flashing neon lights.

And the only person still standing...Was Nicholas.

Blood dripped slowly from his gloves onto the floor.

His head tilted slightly upward.

The X Glasses reflected the dim red lights of the tavern.

And even through the monitor...

It felt like he was staring directly at him.

Draco’s face went pale,"I’m dead..."
