Chapter 20: I Can Beat The Young Hero

Draco’s eyes met Nicholas’. And within that split second, dread crawled violently down his spine.

It felt like ice had seeped straight into his bones.

But the feeling didn’t last long.

Thunk!

Nicholas casually tossed a blade forward.

The CCTV camera exploded instantly and the monitor instantly went black.

---

Nicholas had cleared the entire lobby in a few minutes, and this time he was completely brutal with it.

Selena’s eyes swept across the littered bodies. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Armed guards, grown men, taken down even before she could tell what was happening.

Genuine shock covered her face, ’Did he become faster?’

The sound of glass shattering snapped Selena back to reality.

She quickly turned.

Nicholas stood casually in the middle of the fallen bodies. A dagger was lodged directly into the CCTV camera above.

"What the hell is all this?!"Selena glared at him furiously,"Those were civilians! You’re not supposed to kill them!"

Nicholas turned toward her blankly before pointing at one of the guards with a dagger buried in his chest,"I didn’t kill anyone."

He pointed again,"He did."

"As for the others, I deliberately avoided their vital points thanks to the X Glasses."Nicholas adjusted his coat calmly,"So they won’t die immediately."

He paused slightly,"Maybe ten minutes."

{Incorrect.

The most critical condition belongs to the guard stabbed in the chest. The dagger penetrated the left sternum region, resulting in a right ventricular tear.

Estimated time until death: approximately one hour.

The remaining individuals possess significantly lower fatality risks if medical attention is provided in time.

That said, the user hasn’t defaulted in the rules yet.}

The ai voice from the glasses spoke out loud, leaving Selena in a daze.

"Well isn’t that a very convenient feature?" Nicholas said, surprised by the feature of the ai, "There you go supervisor Selena, this will handle your questions from now on"

"Are you being serious right now?"Selena stared at him in disbelief.

Nicholas shrugged back in response.

She genuinely couldn’t tell which was worse—His shamelessness or the casual way he spoke about almost killing people.

"Supervisor, we have trafficked girls to save... There’s still a few more rats to deal with. Don’t worry, I won’t kill them..." Nicholas said bluntly as he quickly walked into the passageway.

"What did we accept into the association?" Selena looked around her, she could almost feel her sanity slipping through her grasp. Every second around Nicholas came with a new problem.

She thought it ended with the unusual confidence. But now here he was casually doing what she’d never seen any hero do in her lifetime and to make it worse.... There was no way to scold him.

Because somehow...He technically still followed the rules.

"This guy’s going to make me lose my job" Selena thought, facepalming, she looked at all the littered bodies, groaning on the floor once more, "Then again, he is terrifyingly efficient"

She quickly looked ahead rushing to catch up with him.

Watching from outside through a pair of binoculars, even Vixen couldn’t hide her surprise, ’I need to know who that is’ she thought to herself, her brows arching, ’The media is taking time, and since he’s already started the operation... I can just tag along and see’ Vixen thought as she walked forward from the skyscraper, but the moment she moved—Space bent around her.

And the next second, she appeared directly inside the building.

She looked at the mess of the bodies before walking forward, the space bending around her again.

-----

"You’re dead? What do you mean by that" the deep croaked voice snapped him out of his daze.

Draco frowned, his brows arching, "Sir... We might have a problem"

"What problem? Did they send an A-rank hero? A high-class hero?"This time, the voice sounded slower.

More cautious.

This time, it didn’t carry the same arrogant dominance, but deep concern.

"No, I have never seen any hero like this before" and he meant that literally, for some reason... After seeing the way Nicholas dismantled the men with just bare hands and not even using any special abilities. Something felt wrong.

"If it’s a hero you’ve never seen on screen then there’s nothing to worry about... Send out more men, and prepare the girls we’ll be coming to get them in a few minutes with the van" The voice replied, a bit calmer after hearing his confirmation.

Draco swallowed, "Sir I feel we might be underestimating this hero... Something doesn’t feel right about him"

"I’ll be there soon, keep him at bay till I get there" The voice replied back, rather carelessly.

Draco felt a bit more reassured knowing that the person was coming, "Alright sir, I’ll do that"

He released a small sigh of relief as he turned his gaze back to the monitor, but his mouth fell open, all the camera’s were going off, and they were going quickly.

One of the monitors showed a passageway littered with bodies.

Men sprawled across the floor one after another like some horrifying red-carpet entrance. Before he could do anything, that camera too was destroyed.

Leaving only two left, the one in front of the office where he was.

And one right in the passage near the office where he was.

Draco felt a cold sweat trickle down his face, as he stood up,’What happened? How did he get there so fast?’Draco shot up from his chair in panic.’That guy told us to hold them off until he arrived...’

’Are we surviving until then?’

Just then, in the camera in the passage way Nicholas paused staring at it for a long moment, before shattering that one as well.

That short moment though, allowed Draco to get a clearer view of his face. He looked... Young?

Draco felt his confidence return slightly, he swallowed hard,’So what if he beat a few of my men?’ His breathing slowly steadied.

’I’ve been here longer than those idiots.’

’I’m better with guns than all of them.’

’I only need to stall him until that monster arrives.’

His confidence slowly returned.

’What could a kid like that possibly know?’ With reignited confidence, Draco walked to the edge of the wall, where his weapons were.

He picked out a few and headed out, ready to make the biggest mistake of his life.
