A Night of Desire
Chapter 299 - 296: At Least Their Acquaintance Won’t Be in Vain
Even if she didn’t care about her own reputation, she couldn’t disregard the reputations of Seth and Miles Quinn. If Sandra released this video, everyone would think she was intentionally trying to seduce Miles Quinn.
Although no one else knew about her marriage to Seth Quinn, all of his friends thought of her as his girlfriend. If she was now "seducing" Miles, how could Seth possibly hold his head high in front of them?
Besides, Seth was already hung up on the fact that she used to like Miles. If he saw this video, his misunderstanding of her would only deepen.
Although their brief marriage was about to end and they would soon have nothing more to do with each other, she subconsciously didn’t want Seth to lose face because of her.
’If that happens, I’ll feel like I owe him!’
’And what I want even less is for him to misunderstand me for the rest of his life.’
’Even if we can’t be husband and wife, it’s better to be strangers with no hard feelings, isn’t it? At least that way, our having met wouldn’t be a total waste.’
Just as she was lost in thought, Sandra fished her phone out of the sink, but it was completely unresponsive.
When the phone fell into the water, she’d been so stunned that she just stood there. The phone had been soaking for just as long and was obviously ruined.
Sandra clutched the phone, which wouldn’t even turn on, and glared up at Clara Grant with pure hatred.
’Clara Grant did that on purpose! She deliberately destroyed the evidence!’
Just as she was grinding her teeth, about to let loose, Clara seized the initiative. "Senior Vaughn, I’m sorry. I’m so, so sorry. I didn’t mean to. You saw what happened, it was just an accident."
Her expression was so timid and apologetic that anyone watching would have believed it was truly an accident.
Sandra was so infuriated by Clara’s masterful performance she could only laugh derisively. "An accident? You did that on purpose! Clara Grant, weren’t you acting so high and mighty a moment ago? So you do get scared after all! You’re nothing but a slut who pretends to be a saint, are you actually afraid of people finding out?
Oh, and didn’t you keep insisting you weren’t trying to seduce Miles? If that’s true, why destroy my phone and the evidence? It’s because you have a guilty conscience!"
Clara waited quietly for her to finish, then said with a slight frown, "Senior Vaughn, I’m sorry. Breaking your phone was my fault. But I don’t understand what you mean about me seducing Miles. When did I ever do that?
I already explained that I just accidentally bumped into him. What more can I say to make you believe me? You can’t just start spouting nonsense and trying to get revenge on me because I got the role of Tina, can you?"
With that, she paused before adding, "Senior Vaughn, I’ll buy you a new phone to replace the one I broke. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be going."
When Sandra saw she was about to leave, she lunged forward and grabbed her. "Who wants your damn phone?!" she cried, her voice trembling with rage. "Clara Grant, you despicable, shameless woman!"
The more Sandra stewed, the more furious she became. She raised her hand to slap Clara. The movement was so sudden and swift that if the blow connected, there was no way Clara would be able to dodge it.
But just as Clara squeezed her eyes shut, bracing for the impact, she heard a sharp voice cry out, "Sandra, what do you think you’re doing?"
A moment later, Sandra’s hand was caught mid-swing.
Sandra and Clara both turned to see who it was. Standing before them with a stern expression was Faye Jennings.
