Chapter 534: Draconic Traits
Chapter 534: Draconic Traits
"Wait, you will tame both of us together? Right now?" the Wyvern asked, its eyes widening slightly.
"Yes? Is there a problem?" Leo asked.
"Well... no. But shouldn’t the taming process put a burden on your soul? What if you can’t handle it?" the Wyvern asked.
"I was about to suggest that if taming both of us is impossible, you’d need to ensure my woman’s safety and make sure she comes out of this place safe and sound.
"And in case you were hesitant in any way, there is also the fact that she has a very beneficial support talent that synergises with mine. So in the end, it would have been beneficial for you."
If the Wyvern had known of the outer world’s dealings, he would have known that humans actually preferred to tame beasts of the same elements to increase their flexibility in a single field. That way, he would have been able to put conditions favourable to himself, but since he didn’t know, it was his loss.
But once again, unlike most tamers, Leo was one of the few exceptions who tamed beasts of different elements, so it wouldn’t have worked on him anyway.
Leo was immediately interested.
"A beneficial support talent, you say? And it synergises well with you? Is that why you ended up choosing your sister as your woman?"
The Wyvern was taken aback.
"No, she is not my sister... well, according to the conditions we have been living under," the Wyvern corrected himself after thinking it through and realising his family’s web-like condition wasn’t actually the ideal way for a family to exist. He immediately explained.
"I am Hidimba’s son by the 1st wife. My woman came from the other maternal branches. Her blood traces back to the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th wives, the result of generations of unions among those branches."
Leo’s expression turned deadpan.
They are still related by around 25%, he thought.
Well, I guess it’s still better than Alric, who is the product of half-siblings, Leo thought. In this sense, even a beast family structure in captivity for over 1 century was better than Lily’s paternal house.
Leo still hadn’t come across the truly extreme cases, and he prayed he never would, if there actually were any.
The Wyvern glanced at Vulcarion, who was coming closer and closer to their location.
"Should we begin? You need to tame my woman before the noble dragon arrives. Otherwise, it might get troublesome."
Leo chuckled and walked up to the Wyvern.
"Rejoice and relax. From now on, you and your woman are under me. I will destroy those dragons if they even think of touching you."
The Wyvern looked into Leo’s eyes and could feel that he was telling the truth.
In the shadows, Zerathra and Gunther watched Leo’s interaction with the Wyvern.
"Lady Zerathra, I don’t think your former slave has many days left if that Wyvern agrees to serve my student in order to enact his revenge."
"Who cares about a mere slave? Let him die. But I have to say, your student is quite lucky. A hoarding Wyvern willing to submit? Now, not only will your student have the chance to inherit that special talent coveted even by dragons, but he will also become the very first to tame such a Wyvern. These types of Wyverns are notorious for contending with actual dragons in terms of power and even overpowering them in some cases."
Gunther immediately turned his head towards Zerathra.
"Wait, a hoarding variant? How do you know that Wyvern is one?" Gunther asked in surprise.
A hoarding variant draconic being was truly a special case, enough to surprise even Gunther.
Zerathra tapped her head lightly.
"Being an inferior being really has its disadvantages, I guess," Zerathra said with a smirk.
Gunther rolled his eyes.
"That really seems to be the case. They can’t even convey their thought process without trying to act smart and flaunt their non-existent greatness."
A vein popped on Zerathra’s forehead as her blood pressure rose. But she distracted herself by observing her nephews.
Meanwhile, Leo had already initiated the taming process and extended his hand towards the Wyvern’s lowered head.
At that instant, Leo felt all the contract conditions that he and the Wyvern had agreed upon being put into place by the world.
Leo brought out his ox horn dagger and cut open his wrist, fresh blood dripping onto the ground.
The Wyvern lowered his head even more as Leo raised his hand and freely poured his blood into the beast’s mouth.
Zerathra’s eyes widened in astonishment.
"Is your student a master manipulator? How did he convince a Wyvern to form a blood bond from the very start?"
"Well, I cannot explain this to a so-called greater being who is stuck in the past," Gunther replied without any change in expression.
The vein on Zerathra’s forehead hadn’t even settled before 2 more flared out.
Meanwhile, Leo had just completed the taming process.
