Alpha Marked By A Ruthless Enigma (BL)
Chapter 69 - 68: The Monster He Can Be
The heavy rain did not stop, it beat down against the roof of the warehouse, making a constant roaring sound. Inside the air was cold.
Harrison stood in front of the door leading to the room where Helen and her family were kept. He made sure that David had brought them in just as he requested before sending him out to go look for Julius and follow every fucking lead he can.
The four guards near the doors stood completely still. Usually, these men were relaxed when they worked together, but tonight was different. They kept their eyes fixed straight ahead, avoiding Harrison’s form.
Every time Harrison shifted his weight or took a slow, deep breath, the guards braced their shoulders. They had seen him angry before, but they had never seen him like this. He looked like a bomb that had already been lit, just waiting for the final second to go off.
One wrong word or one loud noise could trigger him, and nobody wanted to be near him when that happened.
Anna walked out from the small office at the back of the warehouse. She stopped a few feet away from Harrison, looking at the side of his face, his jaw was set so tight.
"The men outside have finished checking the cars," Anna said, keeping her voice very low. "There are no tracking devices on any of them. The area is clean."
Harrison did not look at her. "They are small fish, Anna. They do not matter."
"They mattered enough for you to bring them here," Anna said softly. She crossed her arms, trying to block out the chill in the air.
"But you have them now. You need to steady yourself before we move on to the next location. The guys downstairs are walking around like they are afraid to breathe the same air as you."
"They should be," Harrison said. His voice was flat, totally empty of any emotion. It was not loud, but the cold tone made Anna’s skin prickle. "Everyone who let this happen should be afraid."
Anna took a small step closer, though every instinct told her to stay back from his heavy, dark energy. "You cannot let the anger blind you. If you hunt them down with this much fury, you will make a mistake. They want you to lose your mind."
Harrison finally turned his head to look at her. His eyes were completely dark, the pupils so wide that the color looked pitch black. "I am not losing my mind. I see everything perfectly. I see Julius taken because our security failed. Do not tell me to calm down, Anna."
"I am not telling you to forget," Anna replied, her eyes looking down a little, she was also scared of the kind of person Harrison was now. "I am telling you to use it. Do not let it leak out like this. You are scaring your own people.
Daniel is a tough man, but even he looked at me before he left and asked if you were going to kill everyone in the room."
"If they get in my way, I might," Harrison said. He turned his back to her again.
The guards opened the door for Harrison, the air was dusty and the whimpers coming from Helen were deafening.
Harrison felt irritated immediately, Helen sat in the middle beside her father. While the two female househelps stood in one corner, visibly shaking.
Harrison walked towards them, Helen turned around, with her father, already feeling his presence before he even uttered a word.
Richard Miller looked like he had aged ten years in the last hour. He kept watching Harrison, his body shaking every time Harrison moved an inch. They were utterly broken, terrified of what the large man would do to them next.
Harrison walked slowly to the table. He did not look at them with any warmth. He looked at them like they were bugs on the floor. He leaned forward, resting his large hands on the edge of the table, his face inches away from Richard.
"Harrison what is the meaning of this? Your men just barged into our home and took everyone. What exactly do you want from us? Please just let us go." Richard said desperately, his voice trembling.
"You thought you could play both sides," Harrison said, his voice dropping into a dark whisper. "You thought you could help the people who took Julius and then just go back to your big house and eat your dinner. You thought I would never find out."
"Harrison, please!" Richard stammered, his lips trembling as he tried to pull his head back. "We didn’t do anything to Julius!"
"I don’t care," Harrison rumbled, his jaw clenching tight. "Your family wanted his company.
You sent your daughter to crawl into his life so you could steal his shares. You made him waste his time looking at your stupid contracts while the real threat moved in."
Helen looked up, her face covered in tears. "Harrison, we just wanted the business merger! We didn’t want anyone to get hurt! My father was just trying to save our shipping lines!"
"I am done listening to your excuses," Harrison said softly. He pulled his black gun from his waist holster and laid it flat on the table. "I brought you here to settle scores.
Every single lie you told Julius, every single trap you tried to set for his business, you are going to pay for it right now. If Julius does not come back whole, neither of you will ever leave this room."
Richard looked at the gun and almost slid off his chair in panic. "We will give you the shares! We will sign everything over to you! Just don’t kill us, Harrison!"
"I love the sound of your fears, it will be fun watching you break." Harrison said, his voice completely empty of mercy.
Before Richard could scream, the phone in Harrison’s pocket began to buzz loudly. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
Harrison pulled it out instantly, pressing the screen. He did not say hello. He just held the phone to his ear, his chest rising and falling in one slow movement.
"Speak," Harrison commanded.
"Boss, we have them," Daniel’s voice came through the line. He sounded happy, and Harrison could hear the faint sound of rain and running water in the background. "Marcus was right about the utility lines. We bypassed their outer lookouts through the old drainage system under the main street. We are inside the perimeter right now."
Harrison’s grip on the phone tightened until the casing made a slight creaking sound. "Did you see Julius?"
"We haven’t seen his face yet, boss, but the white van is parked right in the middle of the loading bay," Daniel reported quickly. "There are four guards at the front entrance and two on the roof. But that is not all. A separate truck just pulled up to the side door. Two guys carried large boxes inside less than two minutes ago. They are moving fast."
"They are starting," Harrison said, his voice dropping into a dangerous whisper that made Daniel pause on the other end.
"We are holding our positions in the southern corridor, boss," Daniel said, his voice turning serious. "We have the doors covered, but I need to know if we should breach now.
If we wait too long, they might move him again."
"Do not touch that door until I am on the floor, Daniel," Harrison rumbled, a sudden heat breaking through his cold tone. "If you trigger their alarms before I get there, I will handle you myself. Keep your eyes on the entrance and wait for my lead."
"Understood, boss. We are waiting for you," Daniel said, and the line went dead.
Harrison slid the phone back into his pocket. He picked up his gun from the table and tucked it back into his waist. He did not look at Helen or her father again. He turned around to look at the lead guard standing by the warehouse door. The guard immediately stood straighter, his face turning pale as Harrison walked toward him.
"Keep them here," Harrison ordered. "If either of them tries to move or speak, shoot them."
"Yes, boss. Right away," the guard said, quickly hitting the button to open the large doors.
Anna followed Harrison as he walked out into the pouring rain. The cold water hit his face, but he did not seem to notice it. He climbed into the driver’s seat of the large SUV, his hands gripping the steering wheel so hard his knuckles turned white.
Anna stood by the open passenger door, looking in at him. "I am going back to the main office to stay with Marcus. We will keep the city lines locked down from there."
Harrison nodded once, his eyes fixed on the dark road ahead. "Do not let a single boat leave the harbor, Anna. If anyone tries to cross the bridge, tell the guards to shoot the tires."
"I will handle it," Anna said, closing the door firmly.
Harrison slammed his foot down on the pedal, driving as fast as he could. He knew exactly what he had to do. The time for questions was over, and anyone standing between him and Julius was about to find out exactly what kind of monster he could be when he was pushed too far.
