Taking a strand of her hair, I wound it around my finger and let it slide down her flushed cheek. My fingers brushed her velvety skin, and a warm breath escaped her parted, plump lips. Zara bit her lower lip, as if resisting the urge to speak.

My gaze fell on them, and the memory of their taste filled my mind, capturing it.

"This will do," I declared, knowing that the dress was perfect. It hugged Zara’s waist, and her ample breasts rose and fell slowly. The feeling of them in my hand haunted me, but it was unbearable.

The curve of Zara’s neck reflected the golden hue of the soft overhead light, and I barely resisted the urge to run my finger along it.

I knew at one time that Zara would cum for me... After all that we had spent together, I realized that she was a virgin and innocent to me. I was sure that she would not leave for anyone else. She was not the type to sleep with just anyone.

"Finally," Zara breathed out, trying to shake off the awkwardness that I was sure she felt. I was standing too close to her, and she wasn’t going to back down. Gris was delighted with Nova.

"We’ll get our way." I wanted this moment to last as long as possible, but I didn’t want Zara to get the wrong impression. Enough teasing already.

I could have sworn Zara sighed in relief when I backed away. She quickly left the room, leaving me in a turmoil of thoughts.

Armanda and Zara came in a little while later. She had changed back into jeans and a turtleneck.

"I’ll send you the dress after it’s been altered. Do you want any jewelry to go with it?" Armanda asked hopefully.

"Yes, we’d like to see the pendants."

"We have a lot of them. I’ll ask the girls to bring them," Armanda replied as she walked out.

As soon as the door closed, Zara began to speak. I knew she was eager to hear my opinion. She crossed her arms over her chest. I was beginning to understand her; she always took that pose when she wanted to express her opinion.

"Jewelry?"

I nodded. "Yes, you will."

Zara let go of her hands.

Armanda came with her assistants, carrying glass boxes with jewelry, and placed them on the table, opening the lids.

I motioned for Zara to sit down and choose. She settled herself elegantly, like a true lady; her etiquette was refined, and I knew that I would have no problem with it when it came to the party.

I put my hand in my pocket and walked over to stand behind her, examining the jewelry.

Her slender fingers fiddled with the various pendants until they finally settled on a pendant in the shape of a blue rose. The petals of the golden rose were made of the finest sapphires.

It was an intricately crafted pendant with exquisite details.

"Can I try this on?" Zara asked.

"Oh! Of course." Armanda took it out of the box as I held out my hand, and happily placed it in my large palm.

"This tiny rose looked precious, and I liked it," Gris grinned.

"It will look great on Nova." Our wolves are flirting with each other.

Opening the lock, I hung it in front of Zara and placed it around her smooth neck. Closing the round lock, I saw that she had pulled her hair back into a bun to make it easier for me to fasten the necklace.

My fingers touched her pink skin, and I felt Zara shudder at my touch. A vein was visible under her skin, and I deliberately held my fingers while fastening the necklace.

As I touched her pink skin, my wolf growled. My wolf desperately wanted his mate.

Armanda handed Zara a mirror so she could examine herself.

Zara’s free hand rested on the blue rose as she pressed it to her skin, her curious gaze wandering over the mirror.

Instead of looking at the pendant, she looked at me.

"It suits you." I shrugged; it would be her choice if she wanted it.

Turning her beautiful eyes away from me, she finally looked around and announced,

"I’ll take it."

Zara’s POV

The solitaire pendant was tiny, delicate, and absolutely stunning. I would have preferred it that way.

I could feel Alpha Kane right behind me, watching me and assessing my choice.

As soon as I chose the rose necklace, Alpha Kane placed it around my neck himself. His rough fingertips rubbed against my skin, causing goosebumps to rise.

Somehow, Alpha Kane’s touch didn’t repel me or feel intrusive.

Nova was incredibly aroused in Gris’s company, enjoying his touch all the time.

Armanda handed me a hand mirror.

The wolf certainly knew how to win a wolf; it was no wonder so many of his jilted exes wanted to come back to him. I wondered how differently he acted with the women he dated.

How often did Alpha Kane smile at them, or did he remain unfazed?

"Damn! What were you thinking and where were you looking?" Nova cursed.

Without realizing it, I was looking at Alpha Kane through the mirror, his dark honey eyes staring back at me.

I felt like he could see right into my soul. I had never seen anyone with such a rich black hue. It was like liquid coal, shimmering with emotions I didn’t know.

My stomach clenched. I blinked rapidly and looked away, focusing on the pendant. The chain was delicate, and the pendant complemented my skin tone.

Honestly, I liked it.

"I’ll take it." My gaze flickered back to him, and Alpha Kane answered affirmatively, turned to the older lady, gave her a few instructions, and handed over his credit card.

As Armanda and her assistants left, Alpha Kane leaned toward me, still holding his hands in his pockets. He whispered, his breath warm against my now reddened ear.

"If anyone asks, this is my first gift to you, when I asked you to be my girlfriend. It will make it more believable."

I swallowed. Alpha Kane was a pro at this; he thought it all out.
