Chapter 292: One has to go (1)

"I’m not going to have this conversation with you tonight, Samuel. There are too many other things on my mind. Retire for the night and we will see what tomorrow will bring," Regina turned to go to the bathroom to change out of her dress and prepare to rest.

"Why don’t you want to talk about this? Don’t you want to enjoy the moment to say how much better you were than me? Along with being dad’s favorite, you turned out to be a good witch. The only one in such a long time. Go on and gloat, Regina."

"Gloat about what, you idiot? That my family massacred another and took everything they owned? That it is in my blood to kill children and trap someone against their will to be where they do not belong? To enjoy that we can sacrifice our flesh and blood? Which part do you want me to gloat about? Please enlighten me," said Regina.

Her sadness was quickly replaced by anger as she reached her limit with Samuel’s nonsense.

"Gloat that no matter how much I tried you were still the topic of conversation!" Samuel yelled, releasing his built-up frustration. "You betrayed us but yet, they were all so amazed by you standing on your own. They didn’t have to admit it. I could see from the look on their face how amazed they were by your prevailing after they abandoned you. Meanwhile, I needed our mother to help guide me."

"What the hell does that have to do with me? You should have taken that up with them instead of creating this competition between the two of us. I just wanted Aurora to come back safe and sound. I never cared about the family business. You were going to have the majority of it and you knew that. It’s not my fault kept calling you incompetent. You should have the courage to speak to him instead of disliking me," Regina argued.

Their mother favored Samuel but she was never upset with Samuel. Regina blamed their mother. Just like Samuel, she had to listen to their mother have no faith in her while she placed all of her hope in Samuel. He was happy with all the attention from their mother to notice how Regina wanted some of that affection. It wasn’t her fault their parents had favorites.

"Not everyone can be like you to say what is on your mind!" Samuel yelled.

Regina counted to ten in her head to refrain from yelling back at Samuel. After losing their parents, the last thing they should be doing is arguing with each other. She was glad that neither Aurora nor Vincent had come to inspect what was happening with all of the yellings. "Please leave with Timothy to see where you will be staying for the night. Be out by morning-"

’Why?" Samuel interjected. "I am your only close family left so why would you push me away?"

"It’s simple. You give me a headache and from the moment you betrayed Aurora, I started to dislike you. I had another reason to dislike you when you wanted to use my marriage to your advantage. Why is it you only see what I have done but completely ignore your actions? I feel like I am the older sister driving common sense into my brother. You have to first accept that you have done and made awful decisions and that is why your life is like this. Stop making yourself the victim," Regina advised him.

"You-"

Regina cut him off before they could continue to argue. "Timothy, please take him out of the room. I don’t care if you have to drag him out. I don’t want to argue anymore."

"Come with me, Samuel. Do not make things hard," Timothy stated though he felt like tossing Samuel out of his house. He came here to comfort Regina about her loss and now there was something else to upset her.

Samuel had more he wished to say to Regina but considering she had Timothy wrapped around her finger, he had to stay quiet before he ended up on the street. Tomorrow he will have another conversation with her.

Regina felt relieved when Samuel quietly walked out of the bedroom. If only he could have done that from the very beginning. Regina palmed her face with her hands for a few seconds before removing them. One thing her conversation with Samuel did was let her see why she should not be so emotional about what happened tonight. Her family was toxic and she should be glad to get away from them.

Judging from the fact nothing had shown up to attack Samuel, he was most likely safe and free to live his life. Regina did not plan to warn him anymore to not try and take what did not belong to him. Samuel had to be responsible for his actions.

"If he won’t behave tomorrow I should turn him into a frog and give him to Agather. Maybe that would be too cruel," she added after a long pause.

Regina continued to wait on the bed for Timothy as she needed help taking off her dress and did not feel like calling for a maid this late in the night. She waited for a couple of minutes and sat up right away when she heard the door opening. "Did something happen? Why did you take so long? Why are your knuckles bruised? Did you punch him?"

"He deserved it and several more but I only hit him once. Your brother is a fool," Timothy grumbled and dropped his sword on the floor. If only he had found Samuel first to send him away from showing up before Regina.

Regina stood up from the bed to inspect his hands. Timothy didn’t try to hide his hands and allowed her to touch him. "I agree that he is a fool. I’m sorry for how much you have to deal with. Your life would be better if you liked another girl. Like Gretchen," she joked and enjoyed him rolling his eyes at their common enemy.
