Apocalypse: Transmigrated General's Daughter Uses Space to Survive
Chapter 603: Coordinated Zombies
Silence filled the living room after Yang Leo’s explanation.
If what he said was true, then in this case,
"So, the wind is just one part of the disaster, and the real danger comes during those four hours." Grandpa Chu said slowly, his brows furrowed.
Commander Shen nodded his head grimly.
"Yes. The wind destroys everything in its path, making it impossible for humans to move freely. Then when it stops, the zombies and mutated beasts appear in large numbers... as if they were being controlled."
This made those who had gone to Russia think of something, intelligence zombies. Especially the zombie king.
In Russia, they had seen how the leaders in the zombie army could control millions of zombies.
Now, it seems the zombies were starting to fight back.
"We cleared the city before, how do these zombies and mutated creatures get in?" Ye Xuan suddenly asked.
This was indeed something that no one had considered before.
They were used to dealing with zombies so much that they forgot that their city shouldn’t have zombies anymore.
"Yes! How did the zombies come in? Did more people mutate?" Lei Ying asked in surprise.
"It’s impossible. If such a large number of people mutated, then the population in the city would have gone down significantly. However, those from the sect doing patrols haven’t noticed anything." Commander Shen immediately rejected the thought of more people turning into zombies.
"Then it could only mean that the zombies have found a way to enter the city undetected and have a hiding spot or they can come and go freely." Chu Mo said solemnly.
This speculation made everyone break out in cold sweat.
If the zombies launched an attack while they were relaxed and had their guard down, then things could go south pretty quickly.
Chu Miao leaned back on her chair, her fingers tapping lightly on the armrest.
"The disasters so far have always been chaotic, but natural. Floods, extreme cold, extreme heat, hailstorm, even the mutated rats. They were dangerous, but also predictable and manageable. However, if disasters start getting manipulated, then things will change."
"Sister-in-law, do you suspect that someone is controlling the disasters?" Gu Fan asked, curiosity written all over his face and the others leaned forward as if eager to hear the answer.
Chu Miao’s lips twitched at their reaction, but still spoke.
"It might not be necessarily controlling the disasters themselves, but using them."
She looked at Yang Leo.
"During the twenty hours of wind, what happens to the zombies?"
"They hide...or rather, disappear." Yang Leo replied after a moment of thought.
"Do you know where they hide?" Chu Miao asked again.
"Not really. The scouts reported that they retreat into buildings, underground tunnels, and other places that are shielded from the wind." Yang Leo answered truthfully.
"And during the four-hour break?"
"They come out in large numbers."
"Do they scatter randomly?"
Yang Leo shook his head.
"No. That’s the strange part. They seem... organized. They move in groups. Attack specific areas. Almost like..."
"...like an army with a strategic plan." Commander Shen finished.
"So, let me get this straight," Chu Hao said, leaning forward.
"The wind forces humans to stay hidden. Then when it stops, the zombies come out in organized groups to hunt." He paused for a moment as if to let everything sink in, then he continued.
"That’s not just using the disaster. It’s just as Commander Shen said. That’s strategy."
"Exactly," Ye Xuan said.
"Strategy requires intelligence, and the most likely candidate to have such intelligence and lead the zombies is....."
Qi Long clenched his fists slightly.
"...That zombie king."
Everyone thought of this at the same time.
That thing looked like a human, could think like one, and it had already started organizing zombies that had evolved into positions of leadership.
"If that’s the case, then this isn’t just a disaster in the apocalypse anymore. This is war." Grandpa Li’s aura suddenly changed and one could tell that he was indeed a general who had climbed over mountains of corpses.
Chu Miao suddenly stood up. It looked like the news didn’t shock her very much.
However, having been the queen in the Immortal Realm, very few things could truly shock her.
"If it’s a war, then we’ll give them one." She said then turned her head to look at everyone in that room.
"First, we need to understand the pattern. The four hours you mentioned, is it fixed everyday?" She asked Yang Leo.
"Yes," he replied immediately.
"It starts at noon and lasts until around four in the afternoon."
"So, the wind dominates from four p.m. to noon the next day?" Ye Xuan asked.
"Correct."
Chu Miao nodded.
"Good. That means we have a predictable window."
That made handling the situation easier than if the four-hour window was unpredictable.
"What are you planning?" Commander Shen asked, seeing the look in Chu Miao’s eyes.
He had sent that look back in City C when they waged a war against the zombie army that attacked the base.
And the results were beautiful. He hoped to see something so incredible again in his lifetime.
Chu Miao’s lips curved up in a shallow, but captivating smile.
"A counterattack."
That one word sent ripples of excitement through everyone there.
It was finally time to stop the small hunts, and catch big fishes.
"If the zombies are using those four hours to hunt," she continued, "then we’ll use the same four hours to hunt them and make it count."
"But they come out in large numbers," Li Han said. After listening to Yang Leo, they could tell that the number of zombies showing up wasn’t small.
Otherwise, the sect wouldn’t have taken it so seriously.
"Wouldn’t that be dangerous?" Li Kun added.
"It would have been before today considering how strong that zombie king is." Chu Miao replied.
"But not anymore."
Her gaze swept across the group of newly advanced cultivators.
"You’ve all just broken through and your strength has increased significantly. Our foundations are stronger than ordinary cultivators as well after the tempering. So, now is the time to use our edge." Chu Miao added.
