Chapter 376: Chapter 376: Snowflake

Months went by without the war coming to an end, Elizabeth grew more worried with each passing day.

It was as if the church was deliberately slowing down to mentally exhaust her and it was working.

Then she received the news she was waiting for, on the two towns taken by the church, all of the church personnel suddenly died.

They three up blood and bled from all orifices before dropping dead, everybody knew instantly it was poison. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

The citizens of those towns panicked but then realised they weren’t effected at all, only members of the church were.

This was of course by design, Elizabeth had poisoned the well water with undetectable poison.

The poison was slow acting, extremely so and to prevent civilians from dying she gave them the antidote.

Knowing how prideful the church is, she mixed the antidote with stew, the type of food the church was bound to look down on.

Then using fake merchant she sent them to provide relief to the people by pretending to be benevolent merchants.

Of course she also made sure so save something for the church officials and those corrupt people with power.

That way they wouldn’t stand in the way or bother her merchants and just like that, while everybody else ate the antidote for month, church officials consumed poison.

Since they were using the two towns as gateways to the empire, a lot of their powerful soldiers were stationed there.

Almost every other church official and soldier also passed through there and naturally they drank the water.

So tens of thousands of people died from the poison within the same week, months after they took over the two towns.

" You’ve thoroughly infuriated those bastards, the final battle is bound to take place soon." Rouge told her.

Elizabeth nodded, she also understood that and in fact welcomed it, this war was draining too many resources.

With the church having lost nearly 40 percent of its strength, this was the time to struck.

Elizabeth stood up and left her tent, she was wearing a battle attire not much different from that of Rouge but it was green in colour.

" My soldiers!" She shouted and drew the attention of her soldiers, they didn’t look like they were ready for war.

" I know you’re scared!" She continued, " I am too, I’m not going to lie and pretend to be brave, I’m not.

But I have faith, our world suffered in the hands of the so called Gods, they demanded sacrifices but gave nothing in return.

Our children starved and burnt and all we could is watch, we prayed and prayed and not one answered.

They kept taking and taking and taking." Her voice grew lower but her soldiers could hear her rage.

" I say no more, they’ve taken enough without giving anything back, in our time of need she came.

Like an angel she descended from above and cooled this burning world, she gave us water and brought us life.

And now the servants of the cruel Gods seek to harm the holy maiden, they call us heretics for showing gratitude to our saviour yet they drain the lifeline of our world to give their cruel masters.

They call us traitors for not enslaving our selves to dictators, I say no more, I will not ask you to fight.

If you wish not to you can go home but I promise this, for out world, for our children, for the holy maiden, I will fight.

Even if I stand alone I will fight, even when my arms and legs are broken I will fight for what I believe in."

The soldiers shouted, not a single one left, their morale rose and blazed to the sky like an undying flame.

They marched, their steps shook the ground and they headed for the territory of the church.

The church met them in kind and without question the war began. Rouge was the first to attack.

As a rank 4 magi, her power was immense, a runic circle lit up on her right hand and she pointed it forward.

A beam of fire shot out towards the opposite army. On the other side another magi stood forward.

A green runic circle lit up and a barrier of wind appeared and blocked the besm of fire, an explosion spread out.

It devastated everything within two kilometres them it was followed by a shockwave that spread even further.

Rank 4 magi were known as city destroyers, they were a one man army whose strength was unmatched.

After the initial exchange, the two armies roared and lunged at each other, swords and spears clashed.

Runic arrays lit up, explosions of fire and wind spread out, the earth rose like spears and pierced through the hearts of people.

Elizabeth felt sorrow watching all of this, she hated war and death but she could no longer tolerate the tyranny of the church.

So she steeled her heart and continued watching the fight, Rouge and Roage brought carnage.

Eventually they met their match and reached a stalemate then she realised she had underestimated the church.

A second army suddenly showed up on much larger numbers, Elizabeth panicked but there was nothing she could do.

The tables turned and her army started being pushed back, morale dropped and her people started dying in droves.

She clasped her hands tightly and prayed for a miracle, she took out the snowflake and was about to use it when a change occurred.

The sky split open and a creature made of fire descended, this was a lesser God of fire, an extremely powerful being.

If either Naledi or Ved were here they would’ve laughed, the so called lesser god was nothing but an elemental.

Rouge attacked it immediately, she used a rune of wind instead of fire as that would just backfire.

The lesser god waved its hand and dispersed her attacks then a giant of fire appeared behind it.

They called this a Gods avatar, stated to be something only Gods possessed but it was nothing but an image.

This elemental was at the projection realm but this was enough to be seen as a God in this world.

The difference between a projection realm and those below was too immense. The elemental spoke.

" By decree of the great God of fire, the foolish empire will be burnt to ashes and its records will be removed from all of history."

As its words echoed across the battlefield, the soldiers of the empire felt despair while the church cheered.

The twins roared and attacked but they were like ants in comparison to it. Elizabeth placed the snowflake on her chest.

Everybody saw a bust of blue light and the temperature dropped.
