"Both of you stop, do you think it’s a good idea to show your lame sides in front of a junior?" The baldy stepped in at this moment.

Both parties instantly stopped talking but continued to glare at each other from across the living room.

There was a moment of silence as the baldy observed both of them before he resumed speaking.

"The mission this time is simple. Kidnap the child of an explorer called the Frenzied Killer. He has been interfering with our lord’s plans a lot and has killed quite a good number of our people, and we believe that he’s targeting us on purpose." The baldy informed.

Alex’s eyebrows shifted slightly as he listened.

’No kidding, the entire world is targeting your group.’ he thought silently.

Meanwhile, the baldy continued to speak. He explained that the Frenzied Killer has kept his son in a heavily guarded hotel with tens of guards constantly keeping watch.

The weakest mage on guard was at the Expert mage rank and there were several Master rank mages too, so this mission wasn’t going to be easy.

They also had the option to just kill the kid if taking him alive would prove problematic.

After explaining the mission, he turned to look at the lady who had brought Alex and Nightmare here.

"Use your connections to get us in, the layout of the building is already known to us. We’ll work separately once we get in to avoid any incidents." The baldy instructed.

"Sure thing, that’s my speciality after all. Unlike someone who only knows how to destroy things," the lady spat, swaying her crimson hair to the side with a gentle move of her neck.

BOOM!

Mana surged from the other side of the living room, destroying the chair that the man was sitting on as he stood up.

"You...!" The man squeezed through gritted teeth, obviously pissed.

"That’s enough! Keep this up and I’ll have no choice but to report you to the lord." The baldy snapped.

Upon hearing that they would be reported, the man stopped moving and the mana withdrew into his body. He gave the woman one last nasty glare before storming off to sit somewhere else.

After dealing with that, the baldy turned his head and his gaze landed on Alex.

"We’ll be bringing fifty dark beasts along for this mission in case things turn out differently, our main objective must be completed at all costs. Kill or get the explorer’s kid." He said slowly.

Alex "..."

’I get it but why are you staring at me so much? It’s not like I’ll be going on the mission alone.’ Alex thought inwardly but his facial expression remained calm.

After staring intently at Alex for over ten seconds, the baldy let out a soft chuckle.

"Good, good, you’ve got guts, I like that. How many dark beasts do you have?" He laughed and asked.

"One but she died shortly after turning into a dark beast," Alex replied without a pause.

"Hmm, is that so? Then you’ll work alongside other Disciples and keep watch over the dark beasts from a distance. Release them when we give the signal." The baldy said.

Alex nodded silently.

"Good, that’ll be all for now. The mission will commence two weeks from now so you all can return for the time being. You’ll be informed once it’s time with further information, head directly to your gathering point." He added as he moved away from Alex.

"Then I’d better get going, White Star, come with me." The lady was the first to stand up and waved for Alex to follow her.

Alex "..."

He was now getting very annoyed and was considering tossing her into a space vortex.

"Wait,"

Just when Alex was contemplating what to do, Baldy’s voice rang out and was followed by footsteps.

They turned to look and saw that the baldy was already in front of Alex.

"Take off your shirt," the baldy demanded.

’This again?’ Alex grumbled inwardly but still obeyed since he didn’t want to arouse any suspicions.

"Who’s the yellow robe above you?"

"Green flame," Alex replied while taking off his shirt.

"Where is Green Flame now?"

"I don’t know,"

Everyone watched in silence without interfering. Meanwhile, the crimson-haired woman was staring at Alex’s body with sparkling eyes like a kid who just seen the most delicious candy.

Some time later. Alex found himself in front of the building where his apartment was located, he was finally home.

He let out a sigh, he had somehow managed to escape from the crimson-haired woman without angering his superior. He believed that she might have done adult stuff to him had he not run away as soon as he did.

As for the baldy, he had allowed Alex to leave after confirming that he had the tattoo; Alex was thankful that he had yet to remove it, as he would have exposed himself.

Shaking his head, he proceeded to enter the building when someone appeared in his view.

It was old man Harold who was coming out.

"Ah, Alex, you’re back. Why do I feel like I’ve been seeing you less frequently lately? Haha, how are you doing kid?" The man voiced out with a big smile as he approached Alex.

"Good evening, Sir Harold. I’m fine, thank you. I believe you’re well too?" Alex replied with a soft smile. Old man Harold reminded him of Simon back in Balon City, he wondered how the man was doing.

’He is probably busy being Aunt Mia’s personal driver and assistant.’ Alex chuckled inwardly.

"Indeed, nothing keeps an old mage healthier than going into the wild to annoy magic beasts." Old man Harold laughed and he stopped in front of Alex.

"By the way, I believe that Magic Universities are holding their last assessment this week, what do you say about joining my group on some missions one of these days?" He added.

"I have some urgent matters to attend to first but I’ll keep that in mind," Alex replied with an apologetic smile.

"It’s all right, do what you must. Take care of yourself then, see you around!" The old mage patted Alex’s left shoulder before walking off.

"Yeah, see you around," Alex mumbled before entering the building.

The next day.

A gentle breeze swept through Brandvel City. The sky was clear with no visible clouds in sight, allowing the people of Brandvel City to start their day with high expectations for the day.

It was the weekend so Alex didn’t need to go to the university, they already finished their assessment, and the results would be announced next week.

Alex planned on farming more exp points today but first, he wanted to go ask something at the Union Core Center.

Standing inside his room with his mask and robe on, Alex used Void Walk and made his way to the Union building in Brandvel City.

A few moments later, he arrived inside Maria’s office and stepped out of the Void gate.

Looking around, Alex realised that the woman wasn’t in her office. He released his senses and scanned the entire building, Alex quickly found Maria.

The woman was in a room a few floors below him and there were others with her.

Alex didn’t care about this and opened a Void gate to that floor. He quickly arrived in the room and stepped out of the white space.

But from the perspective of others, it looked like he had appeared out of thin air.

"Kia!" A piercing scream sounded the moment Alex stepped out of the white space, it was a woman who happened to be just behind where Alex’s Void gate had spawned.
