Donovan Lawrence was stunned.

He had already prepared to argue his case forcefully. He’d even considered throwing a tantrum or using violence to get the money. Three million wasn’t easy to come by, but it wasn’t impossible, either.

’Besides, so many of his uncle’s closest relatives are here. If I grab any one of them and threaten their life, Uncle will have to pay up!’

He just never expected it to be this easy. His uncle had actually agreed to give him money. Even five million?

Donovan Lawrence was instantly overjoyed, but his smile didn’t even last three seconds.

Because Vincent Lawrence, his smile unwavering, slowly added, "But, my dear nephew, can you produce any surveillance footage? Do you have a liability report from the traffic police? Or perhaps, any eyewitnesses from the scene?"

"You can’t?"

Vincent Lawrence spread his hands. His tone was gentle, but every word was a dagger to the heart:

"In that case, what you’re doing is called extortion."

Donovan Lawrence’s face instantly turned ashen.

Sue Lawrence, Elliot Lawrence, and Vivian Young exchanged a look, all struggling to hold back their internal laughter.

’He really can’t produce a single one of those things, hahaha! This is hilarious!’

"Bullshit!"

Donovan Lawrence gritted his teeth. "What do you mean, extortion? You just don’t want to pay! If you don’t pay up, my mom and I aren’t leaving today!"

’They have food, drinks, everything here. I’ll just freeload. When the apocalypse comes, I’ll kill them all. By then, the police will be busy trying to save themselves. Who’ll have the energy to deal with this?’

’I’m staying on purpose, just to piss them off!’

He shot them a fierce glare, only to see Sue Lawrence say with a wide smile, "Fine by me. If you want to stay, stay."

Still smiling, she walked over and sat down next to Pamela Sutton. "Here, let me see. Where did you get hurt, Auntie, hmm?"

’Maybe I was too far away before. Come on, let’s get up close and personal~~’

Sue Lawrence activated her Skill again.

[Skill Activated: What’s Yours Is Mine! Acquired: A faint Healing Skill. Better than nothing, I guess.]

Sue Lawrence: ???

’It’s this hard to steal?’

’No way, I’ll keep trying!’

[Skill Activated: What’s Yours Is Mine! Acquired: A faint Healing Skill +1. Better than nothing, I guess.]

???

’Again!’

[Skill Activated: What’s Yours Is Mine! Acquired: A faint Healing Skill +1. Better than nothing, I guess.]

"Hey, what do you think you’re doing? Get away from my mom!"

Sue Lawrence just smiled. ’Not a chance. I’m not letting go until I get that Healing Skill. Absolutely not!’

"Dad, I think we should just take Auntie to the hospital. We wouldn’t want her condition to get worse."

Vincent Lawrence, naturally playing along with his daughter’s act, stood up at once. "Elliot, call for an ambulance."

"Oh, I already did."

Sue Lawrence chimed in with a grin, "I already called through the emergency services app. They should be here soon. Auntie, you have to stay now. Don’t go anywhere."

Pamela Sutton: ????

Pamela Sutton was completely dumbfounded. A sense of dread washed over her. She didn’t know why, but she had a bad feeling about this.

She immediately started to struggle. "What are you doing? Let go of me! If you don’t let go, I’m going to scream..."

Just then, a knock came at the door. "Paramedics! Who called for an ambulance?"

Elliot Lawrence immediately rushed to open the door, looking utterly delighted. "We did! It was us!"

A team of paramedics rushed in and, without a word, loaded Pamela Sutton onto a stretcher. She was stunned, and started yelling, "I’m fine, I’m really fine..."

Vincent Lawrence muttered from the side, "If she’s not sick, then it’s extortion. Elliot, call the police."

"Oh dear, my head suddenly hurts a little..." Pamela Sutton clutched her head and lay back down. She was on the verge of tears. ’This is the worst, this is the worst, this is the worst...’

Donovan Lawrence’s face darkened. He shot Sue Lawrence a vicious glare, then whispered to Pamela Sutton, "It’s fine, Mom. Just pretend you’re dizzy. We have to squeeze at least a million out of them!"

Pamela Sutton nodded and lay back down with a pained expression, letting the paramedics carry her to the ambulance. But Sue Lawrence followed right behind her like a devoted daughter. The paramedics couldn’t help but think how dutiful she was. ’Just look at her, sticking so close, looking so worried!’

Even Donovan Lawrence was completely bewildered, unable to figure out what Sue Lawrence was up to. Only Sue knew exactly what she was doing as she continued to activate her Skill.

’Steal! Steal! Steal, steal, steal!’

[Skill Activated: What’s Yours Is Mine! Acquired: D Level Healing Skill!]

’Ha, it turned into D Level? I knew I’d get it if I just kept stealing! Hahaha!’

Sue Lawrence nearly laughed out loud but managed to hold it in. She didn’t have time to inspect the Superpower’s details—she had to keep stealing!

Sue was in the middle of her frenzied stealing when the ambulance siren suddenly cut out. They had arrived at the hospital.

The ambulance doors slid open with a RATTLE. Several paramedics immediately rushed forward and carefully lifted Pamela Sutton out of the vehicle.

Donovan Lawrence followed close behind. He was just about to turn and urge Sue Lawrence to keep up when he caught a glimpse of a figure who seemed even more frantic than he was.

Sue Lawrence practically leaped from the edge of the ambulance door, darted past him without a word, and sprinted after the gurney toward the emergency room entrance. She was running at top speed, yet she still found a moment to look back, wave, and shout in an urgent, breathless voice, "Brother, hurry up! Don’t fall behind!"

The commotion immediately attracted the attention of passersby, who stopped to gawk. A murmur of whispered conversations rippled through the crowd.

"You see? This is why daughters are so much more caring."

"Isn’t that the truth? What’s the point of having a son? Look at that young man, just dawdling. He needs to hurry up and follow!"

"Tsk, tsk. Sons really can’t compare to daughters. If that was my kid, I’d be heartbroken. So unfilial, truly unfilial!"

Donovan Lawrence stood frozen, his mind a flurry of question marks: ???

He was completely dumbfounded!

"No, you’ve all misunderstood!" he subconsciously raised his voice to explain. "I’m the real son! She’s just my cousin! My cousin!"

It would have been better if he’d kept his mouth shut. As soon as the words were out, the onlookers’ gazes grew even more disdainful, and their murmurs grew louder.

"Her actual son cares less than the cousin? They really failed raising that one!"

"Sigh, all those years of raising him for nothing. So unfilial, so unfilial!"

Donovan Lawrence: "..."

’I really want to curse someone out!’

But now wasn’t the time. He could only brace himself and rush inside after them.

Sue Lawrence didn’t dare let go for a second, sticking to the gurney like glue.

The emergency room was a race against time. The doctors and nurses moved quickly, and Sue ran so fast her feet barely seemed to touch the ground just to keep up. Even the staff couldn’t help but think what a good, filial child she was.

But what no one knew was that this "filial" Sue Lawrence was currently holding onto the gurney, frantically trying to snatch the Superpower as she ran.
