Chapter 74: Chapter 74: What Is This Person Up To?

"Good job. Are you coming back?"

"No, I’m going to call for help in a bit."

"Why?"

"To completely clear my name, of course..."

A smile touched Sue Lawrence’s lips as she walked farther away.

As she walked, she activated the pathfinding Ability of an ant. She could clearly perceive her route across the snowfield, how far she had gone, and her distance from the camp, even though she couldn’t see three meters ahead in the heavy snow.

"Be careful."

"Okay."

As she walked farther out, she examined the Ability she had just obtained.

B Level Wind Slash, Luck Value +77.

’Looks like this guy’s Luck Value wasn’t very high.’

She tried activating the B Level Wind Slash. A blast of cold wind formed a blade, violently cutting through the snow. But just a second later, everything returned to normal.

Then, she tried using Wind Slash and her Ice Control Skill together. Soon, a few ice spikes appeared within the Wind Blade she sent flying out.

But to her, it wasn’t very useful. Ice spikes were already a competent weapon. Between Wind Blade and Ice Control Skill, she only needed one.

Once she was sure she had gone far enough, she switched to the public channel and said in a near-desperate voice, "I think I’m lost! Help, I think I’m lost!"

After no more than three seconds, Victor Keller’s voice came through her helmet. "Stay where you are. Don’t move."

Sue Lawrence lowered her gaze and waited quietly.

Soon, a light appeared in the distance. Leading the way was a robot—the same one that had pulled the sled.

’I knew it. This thing definitely knows the way. And I bet these suits we’re wearing have some kind of tracking device that lets the robots find us.’

’Putting the body in my storage space was the right call. After all, I have no idea just how smart this high-tech stuff really is.’

"Sue Lawrence, do you see the light?"

"I see it, Mr. Keller."

"Good. Head back!"

Sue Lawrence acknowledged and began trudging through the heavy snow, following the light toward the sound of voices.

"Sue Lawrence, what happened?"

Victor Keller asked as soon as he saw her.

Sue Lawrence put on a look of lingering fear. "I... I got lost in the snow. Everything looks the same out here. I kept walking farther and farther away, so I had to call for help..."

Victor Keller looked around. Although they weren’t far from camp, the snow was so heavy that visibility was poor, making it impossible to get one’s bearings. No wonder Sue Lawrence had wandered so far off.

"Let’s head back. By the way, have you seen Ox?"

Sue Lawrence shook her head. "No. Brother, did you see him?"

Everyone looked at Elliot Lawrence. The siblings had already coordinated their story perfectly. "He said he had a stomachache," Elliot said. "He came out after you and went in the opposite direction."

Sue Lawrence listened quietly to the chatter in her helmet, waiting for the other man who had been with Ox to speak up, but he remained silent. She didn’t know his name, but she recognized his face. ’Since he’s not saying anything, he must already be suspicious.’

The corners of Sue Lawrence’s mouth lifted. She was suddenly looking forward to what would happen after they returned to the bunker.

Victor Keller also realized the gravity of the situation. He took a laptop from someone behind him and began typing in commands. The eye-like lights on the robot that had led them there flickered, but it couldn’t locate Ox at all.

"Strange. Why can’t it find him?"

"That’s impossible. The suits have trackers. How could it not find him?"

"Did he just vanish into thin air?"

The group muttered among themselves, a chilling sensation creeping up their spines. Victor Keller’s expression darkened, and he immediately turned around. "Back to camp, now!"

At his command, everyone quickly turned and ran back, following closely behind the little robot despite not being able to move fast in the snow.

It was an hour later by the time they returned to camp. Elliot Lawrence and Sue Lawrence were relieved from their shift and went to sleep. Victor Keller handled the rest, but Sue knew that Ox was never coming back.

The next morning, when Sue Lawrence woke up, everyone was, as expected, discussing Ox’s whereabouts. She acted as if she heard nothing, finished her breakfast with her head down, and then continued digging. Soon, they dug down to an iron door.

"Mr. Keller, it’s the warehouse window."

They had finally dug down to a window!

Victor Keller nodded and ordered some men to break the window. They then climbed through it, finally dropping into the warehouse.

By now, everyone had taken off their helmets. They hadn’t worn them while resting last night, and the temperature inside the warehouse wasn’t cold enough to cause frostbite.

"Mason Summers!"

Victor Keller called out to a teammate. Mason Summers immediately stepped forward. "Take some people and find our supplies. The rest of you, guard the entrance. Jason Sterling’s group, go find your own supplies."

Sue Lawrence glanced over as a tall, thin man slowly stepped out. It was the man who had been with Ox. His name seemed to be Dominic Trent.

"Mr. Keller, our supplies are in here too."

Sue Lawrence said slowly.

Victor Keller glanced at her, then nodded after a moment’s hesitation. "Go on."

Many people stared at Sue Lawrence, and some even began to whisper.

"She only says their supplies are here after we’ve arrived. Is she trying to take advantage of us?"

"Hah, how much could she take? She’s one person with two hands. In a warehouse this big, how much can she really carry?"

"True..."

The people who had been eager to grab some supplies for themselves immediately shut up. After all, they couldn’t carry much, and it was so cold outside that everything would just freeze solid. The low temperatures would ruin many types of supplies, making them useless even if they took them back.

So, everyone just let Sue Lawrence and her group go, figuring they couldn’t take much anyway.

Once they were in a secluded area, Elliot Lawrence whispered, "Sue, there’s nothing we need here, right?"

"There is," Sue Lawrence stated with certainty.

It was only after she came inside that she remembered she had been here in her past life. In a small storeroom at the very back, there was a brand-new, dual-purpose electric vehicle someone had ordered. Its wheels could turn 360 degrees. Although it was useless in the extreme cold of the apocalypse, the vehicle would be very useful once it was over. Besides, their group was growing, so it was a good idea to hoard another vehicle.

"Come on, to the very back."

The two of them started walking toward the back, only to run into Dominic Trent in a corner.

Elliot Lawrence immediately shielded her behind him, glaring warily at Dominic Trent. But Dominic simply raised his hands in a gesture of surrender. "Don’t be nervous. I don’t mean any harm. I just came to tell you that if Tiana Lynch asks where Ox went, I’ll tell her he’s missing."

The space, crammed with shelves, felt cramped and oppressive. Elliot Lawrence looked astonished. ’He couldn’t figure out what this man was trying to do. Was he trying to join them?’

Sue Lawrence, however, directly activated her Eye of Barrier Breaking, scanning him from head to toe.

No one could hide from her S Level Superpower. She could see many things that Tiana Lynch couldn’t.
