Chapter 246: Rewrite Grimoire

[King Angry Rat has been slayed!]

[FLOOR ANNOUNCEMENT: Players Fang Anna and Fang Raon have slayed the King Angry Rat!]

In the skies above the first floor, a surprising announcement shocked everyone, as there hadn’t been many floor announcements on the first floor since the opening of the game.

Over at the Adventurer’s Guild.

"GUYS, COME LOOK. THERE IS A FLOOR ANNOUNCEMENT!"

Someone shouted, and then everyone jumped up from their tables, leaving behind their drinks and food, and stormed outside.

Even the Adventurer’s Guilds’ workers ran outside.

And they all looked towards the announcement in the sky, and they couldn’t believe their eyes.

"L-Look... Only two players... Two players managed to defeat the King Angry Rat!"

"Those mad lads really did it..."

In that moment, some player in the crowd frowned in concentration at the sight of the two names, and his eyes bulged in a shock.

"F-Fang... Fang Family? W-Wait, Fang Anna, isn’t she the Destroyer? The guild master of the Anna’s Angels? Why is such a big shot all the way here on the first floor?!"

When players recognized the name, they breathed in cold air, their hearts pounding in fear, as they realized what they had done.

"W-Wait... Does that mean we laughed at the Destroyer? I’ve heard that she kills people just by looking at her the wrong way. Aren’t we in danger here?!"

"B-But we are in the Safe Zone. What could she possibly do here?"

"You fool! Don’t you know that Fang Anna is the record holder of the most bans in Black Online history? It’s because she doesn’t give a fuck about the Safe Zone. If she wants to, she will just kill whoever she wants, regardless of the consequences!"

Realizing that they might be in danger, the players started one-by-one logging out just for their own safety.

They didn’t want to lose their expensive game cards.

"...They’re amazing."

Thomas said as he looked towards the sky.

’With just two of them, they defeated King Angry Rat, which has caused the death of many, many parties. It has not even been an hour since they left the Adventurer’s Guild.

’That’s just amazing...’

...

The small rats scurried out of the burning room. Their king was dead. They didn’t want to die too, so they just escaped.

Thud~ A treasure chest popped in the air and landed with a loud crash in front of the two siblings.

"I’ll secure the head. That reward money is sweet for the completion of the quest, so it would be a shame to miss out on it!"

Anna said, and she stuffed the separated head of the King Angry Rat inside her bag and tossed it inside her inventory.

She didn’t know about it, but that head was actually useless, as the entire floor already knew that they succeeded.

’That fight must’ve helped the percentage.’

Fang Raon thought and pulled open his interface.

[Next Level: 24%]

’Decent amount.’

He thought to himself.

Then, he walked over to the treasure chest and kicked it open, and there lay heaps of items, some shiny and some dusty.

"I’ll leave the splitting of the treasures to you."

Anna said with a smile.

"There should be five items for Tank and five for Mage. I think it should be pretty easy to do a fair split."

Fang Raon said, and he then went through the items one by one and placed Tank-related items on the left side and the Mage-related things on the right.

Then.

When he was done, he quickly checked what he got.

’Three spell scrolls. A Magic Grimoire. A Magician’s Robe.’

Fang Raon thought, and he quickly checked the description of all five items.

[Flame Breath Blast Spell Scroll: A spell that emits a powerful stream of fire from the caster’s mouth, causing massive damage to enemies in its path]

[Minion Summon Spell Scroll: A spell that allows the caster to summon a loyal minion to aid them in battle]

[Cry For Help: A spell that allows the caster to send a magical distress signal to nearby allies for assistance]

[Gray Magic Grimoire: Increases the caster’s mana capacity, recovery speed, and overall magic power by 10%. It also gives a caster a possibility of rewriting spells in their Grimoire]

[Magician’s Robe: Increases the user’s defense by 20 points and provides a boost to magic resistance]

’These spells are all that the King Angry Rat had, but slightly modified. I got a flame-based spell instead because of my class of Candlelighter.

’Gray Magic Grimoire sounds really nice, and I can rewrite spells in my grimoire? I wonder what that means, and that Magician’s Robe is sweet as well.’

Fang Raon was happy with the items he got.

He dumped his basic robes into the fire, as he simply had no need for it anymore, and he put on the Magician’s Robe.

It felt better to wear it. It was also lighter. And he was feeling way more secure with these robes.

With the basic robe, he was feeling kind of naked as he was used to wearing the chainmail armor of the Warrior class.

This Magician’s Robe actually was quite similar to that.

"These items are all pretty good!"

Anna said with a smile, and she also seemed very satisfied with her items, especially the new armor she was now wearing.

It looked slightly too big for a girl as petite as her, but it was not so large that it couldn’t be worn.

"I received a Gray Magic Grimoire. The description says that I can rewrite some of my spells. What does that mean?"

Fang Raon asked curiously.

He thought that Anna was way more knowledgeable about such things than he was, so she most likely had answers.

"Wow, you got Rewrite Grimoire?!"

Anna exclaimed in a shock, and she looked truly happy for him, signaling that it must be some kind of rare reward.

"With Rewrite Grimoire, you can literally change spells as you wish. Like, you can even change the basic spells. Let’s say the Fireball spell. If you want to, you can make it into an Iceball spell instead.

"It basically lets you change the affinity of the spell if you want. Like, you’re now currently walking down a Fire Mage path, but if you want to change it in the future, you can become an Ice Mage, if you so desire."

Anna said.

"Wow... Interesting."

Fang Raon was impressed.

He was still not quite sure what kind of Mage he wanted to be, but he was fine being Fire Mage for now.

’What about the Heat Gaze? Can I change that?’

Fang Raon opened the Gray Grimoire, and while Heat Gaze wasn’t a page like other spells, it was literally engraved into the book’s spine.

’I think I can even modify the Innate Skill.’

He realized that he must’ve gotten an amazing grimoire.

’Della, for example, is a Light Mage, but I am pretty sure she didn’t start as one, because from what I’ve gathered, getting Light-based spells is difficult.

’So, she must’ve started with another affinity. Maybe she also got her hands on Rewrite Grimoire or Light Grimoire.’

Fang Raon thought.

There were grimoires that were specific to certain affinities, giving boosts to spells related to that affinity.

And from what Fang Raon could remember, Della’s grimoire was golden-yellow in color, and it was most likely Light Grimoire.

"I don’t know about you, brother, but I’d like to get the hell out of this dump. I need to take an hour-long shower to get this smell off me!"

Anna said in displeasure.

"Can’t you just log off to escape the smell?"

Fang Raon asked.

"But the smell still clings to the avatar. When I woke up tomorrow, my avatar would still smell. I need to get rid of it. And so do you. So we’re going to the bathhouse, right away!"

Anna said.

"..."

Fang Raon pulled open his interface, and it was nearing the two-hour mark, but he agreed with her.

He also didn’t want to be stuck with this smell.

...

Adventurer’s Guild.

Swoosh~ creak~!

The door opened. Heads turned stiffly towards the door. Eyes bulged in surprise, and everyone looked away.

Everyone just minded their own business. Eating and drinking in silence. It was a completely different atmosphere from an hour ago.

An hour ago, it was loud with music, laughter, and chatter, and now it was as quiet as in a funeral service!

"Mm~ What happened here~!"

Anna looked around the place with a small smile on her face, and she then took out the bloody bag from her inventory.

She walked straight to the front desk.

In there, the receptionist stood stiff like a tree and forced an awkward smile while cold sweat ran down her back.

"We cleared the quest!"

Anna said happily and placed the bloody bag on the desk, and the separated head of the King Angry Rat peeked out from the top.

The receptionist felt sick. The separated head smelled disgusting. Even the players had to swallow their disgust.

"A-Ah... C-Congratulations... H-Here, a-as promised, the reward money!"

She handed her a heavy pouch. It was filled with square coins.

Players didn’t dare to look there with greed. They might die if they do.

"Here, brother!"

Anna split the money with Raon. Both got 50,000 square coins. It was a lot of money since they cleared the quest with just two of them.

If they had ten with them, everyone would’ve gotten 10,000 square coins.

’It’s a pretty nice amount.’

Fang Raon thought and stored the money in his interface and looked around the building, and to his surprise, no one paid any attention to them.

It actually seemed like they were trying to completely ignore them!

"Where is the best bathhouse?"

Anna asked the receptionist with a smile.

"O-Over at Culliver’s Street. That bathhouse is even fitting for a king. It’s also a very affordable place!"

The receptionist said.

"Thank you~!"

Anna said with a smile, and she then tugged on Fang Raon’s sleeve, and they left together for the bathhouse.

Once they were gone.

Everybody inside the Adventurer’s Guild let out a collected sigh of relief now that they were finally gone.
