Captain Xavier, Your Wife Has Signed the Divorce Papers
Chapter 55: Pull Me Back
Mr. Lynch put an arm around Mrs. Lynch’s shoulders, sighed deeply, and finally nodded.
"We’re entrusting you with the last of Asher’s line."
After saying what they needed to, the couple supported each other as they walked out of the cemetery.
Kaden Xavier was also preparing to take Seraphina Sutton home.
"Huh, Kaden, is that Dr. Wynter?"
Seraphina Sutton suddenly exclaimed, pointing at Wren Wynter in the distance, her face a mask of surprise.
Kaden Xavier followed her gaze and, sure enough, saw Wren Wynter walking down the street, carrying something in her arms.
He drove to catch up with Wren Wynter, pulling the car over just ahead of her.
Wren Wynter never thought that after managing to avoid Kaden Xavier at the office, she would run into him on her way home.
"You’re not at work. What are you doing here? And what’s this?"
Kaden Xavier’s questions were immediately accusatory.
Wren Wynter’s eyes went cold as she replied flatly, "I took the day off. I don’t want this stuff anymore; I’m about to throw it out."
’She wasn’t going to let Kaden Xavier know she had resigned just yet.’
Wren Wynter tried to walk around Kaden Xavier and continue on her way.
Suddenly, a hand grabbed her wrist, yanking her back with immense force.
"Unblock me."
"What?"
"Unblock my contact info," Kaden Xavier repeated, spelling it out for her.
Wren Wynter then recalled that she had, in fact, blocked Kaden Xavier’s number in a daze the previous night.
"And why would I do that?"
"Wren Wynter, how long are you going to keep this up? You won’t come home, you won’t answer your phone. What is it you really want?"
"A divorce. Sign the papers, and I’ll unblock you in a heartbeat."
Wren Wynter flashed Kaden Xavier a smile.
Kaden Xavier’s brow furrowed as he growled through clenched teeth. 𝕗𝗿𝕖𝐞𝐰𝗲𝕓𝐧𝕠𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝐨𝚖
"Wren Wynter!"
"Dr. Wynter, please don’t be mad at Kaden. It was my fault. I’m the one who dragged him out. Please don’t blame him. I don’t want you two fighting because of me."
Wren Wynter rolled her eyes, speechless. ’Seraphina Sutton really loves to act.’
"Oh no, I wouldn’t dare blame you. If I did, Kaden Xavier would probably have my head."
"Wren Wynter, I’ve explained this to you countless times. My relationship with Seraphina isn’t what you think. Can you stop being so needlessly jealous?"
"What am I jealous of? I’m not even angry."
Wren Wynter felt like these two were driving her insane. ’Where is Kaden Xavier even getting the idea that I’m jealous?’
"If there’s nothing else, please get out of my way. I finally managed to get a day off. Don’t ruin my mood."
"Kaden, don’t worry about me. You should go explain things to Dr. Wynter. I’ll be fine; I can get home on my own."
Seraphina Sutton said this tearfully, yet her hand clutching Kaden Xavier’s arm never loosened its grip.
Wren Wynter couldn’t even be bothered to call her out on it, simply letting out a cold laugh.
’If you mean that, then let go of his arm.’
’Trying to have it both ways... Who does she think she’s kidding?’
’Only a blind fool like Kaden Xavier would fail to see through Seraphina Sutton’s act.’
"Seraphina, rest assured. I promised Asher’s parents I would take care of you and the child, and I will absolutely not let you be wronged. Don’t blame Wren; she’s not a bad person at heart."
Seraphina Sutton’s smile looked worse than if she’d been crying; inside, she was going mad with jealousy.
’Even at a time like this, Kaden Xavier was still defending her!’
’Why?’
’What’s so great about some orphan whose parents are dead?!’
Tired of watching their performance, Wren Wynter pushed her way between them and tried to leave.
Kaden Xavier grabbed Wren Wynter’s wrist again, yanking her back.
"Where do you think you’re going now?"
"What’s it to you? Kaden Xavier, stop manhandling me. Be careful, or your precious Seraphina might get jealous and her heart might break for you."
Kaden Xavier’s face darkened as he said in a cold voice.
"You’re coming home with me."
"I’m not going back! Let me go!"
Before Wren Wynter could shake his hand off, Kaden Xavier slung her over his shoulder and started carrying her toward the car.
Seraphina Sutton stood frozen in place, her expression turning ugly.
This was the first time Kaden Xavier had been so intimate with Wren Wynter in front of her.
Kaden Xavier tossed Wren Wynter into the back seat.
Furious, Wren Wynter aimed two kicks at Kaden Xavier.
"Kaden Xavier! What the hell do you think you’re doing! Let me out!"
Kaden Xavier leaned over her, bracing his hands on either side of her. His face was grim, and his deep voice reached her ears.
"Since you refuse to come home quietly, I’ll just have to use my own methods to bring you back, Mrs. Xavier!"
Kaden Xavier practically spat out the words "Mrs. Xavier" through clenched teeth.
Wren didn’t understand. ’What on earth is he so angry about?’
’Isn’t it enough that I’m making way for him and his one true love?’
’What more does he want from me?’
"I’m not going back! Kaden Xavier, you’re despicable! Let me out!"
Kaden Xavier gave Wren no chance to escape. He got up, slammed the car door shut, and locked it to keep her from getting out.
Seraphina Sutton slid gracefully into the passenger seat, then turned her head and spoke in a faintly apologetic tone.
"Dr. Wynter, I’m so sorry about this. Kaden insisted I take the passenger seat since I’m pregnant. You don’t mind, do you?"
"Not at all. Sit there if you want. It has nothing to do with me."
Hearing this, both Kaden Xavier and Seraphina Sutton were taken aback, not expecting Wren Wynter to be so nonchalant.
Kaden Xavier was quite pleased with Wren Wynter’s "sensible" behavior. He glanced at her, his thin lips parting. "If you’d been like this from the start, we wouldn’t be fighting. Don’t misunderstand the situation. I’m only taking care of Seraphina because she’s carrying Asher’s child. No one can take your place as Mrs. Xavier, and I have no intention of replacing you."
When Seraphina Sutton heard this, her face instantly went pale. She bit her lip, aggrieved, her eyes turning red as a flicker of venom flashed in their depths.
"As long as you stop making a scene, I’m willing to overlook your past tantrums."
Wren was so angry she had to laugh.
’This was the first time she realized just how unbelievably shameless Kaden Xavier was.’
’What did he mean, he was willing to overlook her tantrums? As if she needed his forgiveness!’
"Been like what? Kaden Xavier, I’m not like you two. I’m not interested in what belongs to other people. What’s mine is mine. And if something that isn’t mine is forced on me, I find it disgusting."
As she spoke, her gaze swept over to Seraphina Sutton, and she let out a cold laugh.
"However, since Miss Sutton is so fond of occupying my husband, I don’t mind selling him to you. How about cash on delivery?"
"Wren Wynter! Are you that desperate for money?!"
Kaden Xavier’s handsome face instantly darkened.
His relationship with Seraphina was completely innocent, yet Wren Wynter insisted on twisting it into something sordid. It made him feel as if he’d been hopelessly smeared with mud, unable to ever wash it clean.
"So, Miss Sutton, what do you think? A second-hand husband... I’ll even give you a discount. One million. This offer won’t last forever!"
