Clumsy Beast, Keep Your Paws Off
Chapter 623: Wait... There Are More Cubs?!
The loud cries of the cub suddenly echoed throughout the room.
"Waaahhh!"
The powerful cry startled everyone inside the house. For a brief moment, the room fell silent before the gate was pushed open with a loud bang.
A tall figure rushed inside. It was Shi Feng.
His appearance was extremely miserable. His golden hair was disheveled, his clothes were wrinkled, and dust covered almost every part of his body. It was obvious that he had hurried here without stopping even once.
The moment he entered, his eyes immediately searched the room. Then he saw Su Qinglan lying on the bed.
Everything seemed to stop. The nervousness, fear, anger, and anxiety that had been tormenting him vanished instantly. All he could see was her. She looked pale and exhausted, but she was smiling.
Only then did Shi Feng finally feel his lungs fill with air again. His gaze slowly shifted downward. And then he froze.
Grandma Lin was holding a cub. The little fellow was waving his paws furiously while crying loud enough to shake the entire room.
"Waaahhh!"
Shi Feng stared blankly. His mind completely stopped functioning. There was a cub.
His and Lanlan’s cub?
For several seconds, he simply stood there without moving.
Then realization struck him hard. Lanlan had given birth and nobody had told him.
A wave of anger immediately surged through him. How could they not tell him? How could they allow him to miss such an important moment?
Earlier, when he had awakened in an unfamiliar place and learned that Su Qinglan had saved him, panic had nearly consumed him. He had rushed here without hesitation.
Yet all of those thoughts disappeared the moment he looked at the cub. The anger melted away completely.
Grandma Lin chuckled as she adjusted the cub in her arms. "This cub is really too chubby. No wonder he’s crying so loudly. Just look at those cheeks."
As if offended, the cub cried even louder.
"Waaahhh!"
Only then did Grandma Lin notice Shi Feng’s frozen expression. Her gaze softened and she beckoned him closer. "Come here," she said gently. "This is your son."
The words hit Shi Feng harder than any attack he had ever received.
Slowly, he stepped forward. Every movement was unusually cautious, as though he feared the scene before him would disappear if he moved too quickly.
When he finally stopped beside Grandma Lin, he carefully examined the cub.
The little fellow was big compared to ordinary newborn cubs. Tiny golden ears twitched occasionally atop his head while his sturdy little paws kicked the air energetically.
Most importantly, he was healthy. Perhaps a little too healthy. The cub was practically trying to fight the air itself.
Shi Feng’s eyes slowly reddened. His hand trembled as he carefully extended a finger toward the tiny paw. The instant his finger touched the cub, the little paw wrapped around it.
Shi Feng froze. The powerful warrior who had faced countless battles without fear suddenly felt tears gathering in his eyes. His throat tightened painfully as he lifted his gaze toward Su Qinglan.
"Lanlan..." His voice trembled. "Is this... our child?"
Su Qinglan’s eyes softened. A gentle smile appeared on her lips as she nodded.
"Yes. Our child."
Every husband present stared foolishly at the scene.
Grandma Lin truly hadn’t been wrong. The moment a father saw his cub, his brain stopped working.
Shi Feng carefully accepted the cub into his arms. His movements were stiff and awkward, as though he was carrying the most precious treasure in the world. The cub immediately snuggled against his chest, making his arms tremble even more.
Lowering himself beside the bed, Shi Feng brought the cub closer to Su Qinglan. Only then did she get a proper look at him. A smile immediately appeared on her face.
"He really looks like you," she said softly.
As if hearing his mother’s voice, the cub suddenly stopped crying. Then something unbelievable happened. The little fellow slowly opened his eyes.
The room fell completely silent. Even Grandma Lin froze.
The newborn cub blinked several times before looking directly at Su Qinglan. After a moment, he turned his gaze toward Shi Feng, his tiny eyes filled with confusion and curiosity, as though he was trying to memorize the faces of his parents.
Nobody spoke. A cub opening his eyes immediately after birth was practically unheard of.
Grandma Lin recovered first. Laughter burst from her mouth.
"Hahaha! This cub is truly extraordinary. He must be blessed by the Beast God. Look at him. So chubby, so strong, and already so smart."
The cub immediately burst into tears again.
"Waaahhh!"
Grandma Lin coughed awkwardly. "Perhaps he doesn’t like being called chubby."
The room erupted into laughter once more.
Only Han Jue remained calm. Pointing toward the cub, he frowned and said, "Stop staring and clean him first. Leaving the birth fluids on him will make him uncomfortable."
Shi Feng immediately snapped out of his daze.
"Right. Right."
Without hesitation, he transformed into his lion form. The enormous golden lion lowered his head and carefully began cleaning the cub. Every movement was unbelievably gentle.
Not even during battle had anyone ever seen him act with such caution.
The cub happily buried himself in his father’s fur. Only then did Shi Feng finally notice his surroundings. His gaze shifted toward Han Jue.
Shi Feng’s gaze slowly shifted from Su Qinglan to the two cubs sleeping peacefully in Han Jue’s arms.
Then he froze. His golden lion eyes widened so dramatically that everyone immediately noticed something was wrong.
The room, which had been filled with noise only moments earlier, suddenly fell quiet.
Han Jue looked back at him. Several long seconds passed before understanding finally dawned on Shi Feng’s face.
There were three cubs, and Han Jue was holding two.
Which meant those two belonged to Han Jue. And the tiny cub currently nestled in his own arms...Belonged to him.
The realization struck with such force that Shi Feng nearly lost his balance. His usually fierce and imposing face instantly turned foolish with happiness, making him look completely unlike the mighty lion warrior everyone knew.
Han Jue let out a quiet snort.
For the first time in a very long while, he felt a faint sense of superiority. Before anyone could continue teasing Shi Feng, Grandma Lin’s smile suddenly disappeared.
The change was so abrupt that everyone instinctively turned toward her.
The old woman’s eyes were fixed firmly on Su Qinglan’s stomach.
"Hm?"
Following her gaze, the others looked over as well.
Only then did they notice something strange. Although three cubs had already been born, Su Qinglan’s stomach was still noticeably swollen.
A strange feeling immediately settled over the room. Grandma Lin’s expression gradually became serious.
"Are there more?"
The question caused everyone’s heart to skip a beat. Su Qinglan blinked before lowering her head and gently touching her stomach.
"It feels like there should be..." she admitted hesitantly. "But none of them are moving anymore."
The atmosphere instantly grew tense.
Bang!
The gate burst open with enough force to make everyone jump. Two figures rushed inside. It was Rong Ye and Xuan Long.
Both men looked as though they had crossed the entire Beast World without stopping even once. Sweat covered their bodies while their chests rose and fell violently from exhaustion.
The moment they entered the room, their eyes searched frantically for Su Qinglan.
"Lanlan!"
