Cosmic Patron System: 100X Return on Every Reward
Chapter 101 | A Ride in the Sky
The Aether Ride 3.0 glided in the sky, Reyansh felt like he was controlling a slab of butter slipping on the floor rather than a modernistic car.
’I never knew driving this car was this much fun.’ He thought as he increased the speed slightly.
’Lyri,’ Reyansh gave a gentle tug at her using thought communication.
’Yeah, I am awake,’ Lyrielle replied in a dry voice.
’So, want to talk about it?’ He asked.
After a brief silence as their car cruised through the air, Lyrielle responded.
’It was nothing, just being censored dredged up some nasty memories, it’s nothing to worry about.’ She reassured but Reyansh felt like she was speaking more to herself rather than me.
’Well, okay, you can talk to me if you want, whenever.’
’Why did you leave the driver at his home?’ she asked.
’I just wanted to experience the driving and it had been a long day, so I told him to stay.’ He replied.
Lyrielle flew and this time she sat on the window side of the car, gazing through the window.
Reyansh also remained silent, enjoying the drive while he thought ahead.
’I should at least create one blood puppet tonight and I already have best ingredients possible.’ He thought.
’Whatever blood Miss Arpita will bring I will use the versatility of blood to make more blood puppets later.’ He decided.
After about half an hour of peaceful driving, Reyansh finally reached his own neighborhood for the last day.
Steadily, he parked the car in front of his house. There were few people on road or outside their houses at this time, eyeing the car.
His house was in a slightly better area than Amit but it still wasn’t an area where cars like Aether Ride were visible in front of a house.
Just as Reyansh stepped inside the house, Vanya jumped in front of him.
"Hello brother, how was your day?" Vanya’s enthusiastic voice reached his ears.
"Splendid. Did you rest enough? Are you feeling alright?" he asked.
"I am completely fine, whatever potion you used was very effective. But you came a bit early today, I haven’t made dinner yet," she complained.
’Do you want to rest, Lyri?’ he asked internally.
’Nope, we spirit sleep less anyway, so don’t worry,’ she answered.
’Okay then.’
"How about we order in later? Let’s go for a ride," he suggested after his small discussion with Lyrielle.
"Hmm...okay, sure," she agreed after a moment’s thought.
’So, that’s why you asked. You guys can talk, I will start editing the earlier videos of yours,’ Lyrielle remarked.
’Okay, ask me if I can help in anything,’ he agreed.
Reyansh came out again, followed by his sister, both entered the car. Reyansh sat on driver seat again, Vanya sat on front passenger seat while Lyrielle sat on seat behind, started working on editing first three videos of Reyansh.
As the car floated upwards, Vanya watched through the window with curiosity. After about a minute, when the car started gliding smoothly, Vanya turned towards her brother.
"Brother, may I ask you something?" she spoke somewhat serious.
Reyansh noticed the seriousness of tone and nodded.
"Did you hear about the incident with Aryan and his father?" she questioned.
For a moment, the speed of the increased dramatically pushing it forward before coming back to normal.
"What do you...I mean why? What happened?" He asked.
"I scrolled through multiple forums, I found many articles that mentioned a new hunter by the name StarWalker tortured and killed Aryan’s father." She spoke.
Suddenly Reyansh felt like his idea for drive was the worst idea he ever had. His heartbeat rose up, something even S-ranker failed to do so.
Lyrielle noticed this change in Reyansh and just smiled without saying anything and went back to her work.
"And?" he asked, now he wanted to know how much his sister knew.
"Well, I remembered when those two were kidnapping me, they were talking about a guildmaster. So something clicked in my mind, I looked for more detailed articles." She explained, her voice steady.
"Then I found out that he did this because his friend’s sister was hurt. So brother, do you know this StarWalker person?" she asked.
Reyansh exhaled deeply, feeling like he just walked away from dangerous situations. He was in no mood to discuss about his StarWalker identity.
’Thank god, that bluff worked,’ he felt relieved.
"Yes, you can say that," he agreed to her version of story.
"Then why didn’t you ever tell me about your such a powerful friend?" She questioned.
Reyansh chuckled, "Hah...that’s...we just recently made friends and when I awaken as a Hunter. He helped me, that’s how I earned enough to get this car and pay for mother’s treatment." He explained nervously.
"I know how much this car cost brother. How did you suddenly find a rich friend?" she asked, still skeptical.
"Just call it an accumulated luck of three years," he tried to deflect.
"Okay, but if you meet him next time, tell him come meet me. I want to thank him." She stated.
’You are welcome,’ he internally replied.
"So, what are your thoughts about what he did?" Reyansh asked trying to probe his sister’s reaction.
"I think they were lucky he got to them first. If I had gotten my hands on them, those fuckers wouldn’t have died so early," she spoke, a hint of cruelness flashed in her eyes.
"Language," Reyansh reminded but he said nothing because for a moment he saw that blue flicker of light in her without using True Sight.
’What was that?’ he wondered but pushed aside for now to continue the conversation.
"I understand your anger," he added.
"No, you don’t brother, they were taking me to use me as an insurance against you. They were despicable and deserved whatever he did to them." She explained reason behind her anger.
"I know, StarWalker told me. Calm your anger, I brought you out here to make you feel better not dredge up bad memories." He stated.
"Okay, but you promise me to ask StarWalker to meet me whenever he has the chance. And thank you too brother, you always find a way to help me, no matter the situation."
"Well, I am your brother, what do you expect?" Reyansh said with a smug expression.
"And my narcissistic brother is back," Vanya retorted.
Reyansh increased the speed again, intentionally this time. The car streaked in the night sky like a red star, crossing the multiple blocks in seconds.
"Okay brother, I know now that you can drive but let’s reduce the speed to like before." Vanya spoke in almost patronizing tone.
"Oh, is that so," Reyansh glanced at Vanya with a smile. She understood immediately her brother’s intentions.
"No, brother. It’s not a race, let’s calm down." Vanya spoke frantically while the car only sped further.
’Lyrielle, hold on this might get a bit trippy,’ he conveyed.
"Let’s see if this car is worth its price," Reyansh declared as he pushed the speed of the car to maximum.
If earlier the car appeared like streak while moving, now it appeared only like a red line.
Vanya clutched the seat handle as the surroundings almost become blinding, "Brother, slow down."
"Oh, this is just starting, make sure your seat belt is tight," he spoke as he turned the handle completely.
The torque generated turned the car upside down then completing a circle.
"BROOTHERRR! I AM TELLING MOM!" Vanya screamed as the car made a 360° turn vertically.
Vanya’s phone fell down from his pocket, as the car returned to normal position, still speeding.
A few seconds later, "So, how was turn?" Reyansh asked.
Vanya didn’t say anything and just made a fist and started slamming against Reyansh arm.
"Hahaha...I thought you were completely fine. Why is your face red?" Reyansh asked.
"I am not speaking with you. Humph!" Vanya’s crossed her arms and started starring outside.
Reyansh slowed the car, "Okay, I slowed it okay."
"Humph!"
"More slow...okay,"
The banter continued while Lyrielle still floated in air, totally unbothered by the stunt Reyansh just pulled, remaining focused on watching his early videos, cataloging his growth while editing the video.
