Cosmic Patron System: 100X Return on Every Reward
Chapter 54 - 0 | While StarWalker Streams
Arpita shifted in her bed as she and Luna kept their eyes on the StarWalker’s stream. After the start of stream, they rarely talked as they were too busy trying to gauge the limit of StarWalker’s strength.
As he got into cab to reach 8th dungeon, Luna finally asked, "So the way he talked about his family. I am getting a sense that he really is Reyansh."
"Yes, he is. He used half-truths to distance himself from his family. That was smart, if I hadn’t already been looking for him and known of his family history, I wouldn’t connect him and StarWalker together either." Arpita replied as she slumped back into the cushy head rest, supporting her back.
"But my god, this much donation. It’s not one ID either, all of them donated in terms of 100, 500 or 1,000 Cosmic coins. I think my donation was the smallest there." She complained.
"Also why some names had no underscore in their names? This is the first time I have noticed names like that," she asked as she squinted her eye brows.
"I noticed them but its my first time too, maybe miss Fiona know about them," Luna answered. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮
"Yes, I am starting to think, recruiting him will be a herculean task. At this point, I don’t even know if I can get him to join." Arpita stated.
"The way he is getting donations, he will one of the richest in a month or two, so money is out of the equation."
"And the way, those people in comment were almost sure he can stand against S-rank, I don’t think force or coercion would remain an option for long." She added.
"So, what will be your play?" Luna looked at her curiously.
"I am thinking of honest truth and pray that he decides to help us. We do need strong hunters and even I don’t have full information about coming danger, only a priority one order to recruit strong hunters." Arpita answered, thinking about possible dangers.
They watched Reyansh entering the Rotshade Orchard and start obliterating the monsters as usual, suddenly, Arpita’s phone rang.
"Who’s calling you now? School time is over," Luna spoke as she extended her tail to grab her phone and bring it closer.
"It’s Mr Mehta, why is he calling after the school shift," Arpita brows raised as she answered the call.
"Yes, Mr Mehta, what happened?" she asked.
"Principal, I have a bad news," Mr Mehta’s voice replied with slight tremor.
"What bad news?" she asked again, her focus shifting from the stream to the call entirely.
"Well, you have said to look out for Vanya. The school just received a call that she had been in some kind of kidnapping accident."
"She had been taken to the hospital unconscious and the hospital contacted us when they couldn’t connect with her brother." Mr Mehta explained.
For a moment, Arpita thought she heard wrong.
"WHAT!" Arpita’s voice raised as she heard the news.
She looked back at the screen and saw Reyansh eliminating monsters effortlessly, ’Of course, he in dungeon, the calls won’t reach him until he is out.’
She noticed the timer, there were 30 minutes still remaining in his 8 hour challenge.
’Even if he finishes fast, he will still take about 20 minutes...’
"Principal...Miss Arpita" Mr Mehta voice brought her out of stupor.
"Yeah, message me the hospital address and don’t talk to anyone about it, hurry up," she ordered and hung up the call. She stood up and started dressing up immediately.
"What are you planning to do?" Luna asked as she watched lines of tension forming on her head.
"Truth, I don’t know at the moment. The brother who can snap someone’s hand in front of the school because he saw his sister getting almost assaulted." She answered as she put on a black colored top.
"What do you think his reaction will be, when he sees her sister in that state? There are laws and all kind of system in place after The Merge but the world’s changed Luna."
"Truly strong don’t care about rules anymore, this is just a nice facade that has been maintained to keep the public in control." She rambled.
Just as she finished wearing her dress, something clicked in her mind. She stopped for a second, then took out her phone and started dialing a number.
Luna watched with curiosity as she rubbed her head while a silent rage started building up behind her eyes.
"Hello, Miss Arpita, What can I do for —" A slick voice dripped in fake courtesy was heard from the other side.
"What the fuck did you do Jai?" Arpita asked directly.
"Wh...What do you mean Miss Arpita and does this kind of language should..." before Jai Rajput can stall it further.
"Don’t try to be smart in front of me, I am sure you would have tried to look into my background. Did you wonder why you couldn’t get any information?" she asked, her eyes turning red with anger.
"What’s that got to do with your call at the moment, Principal? You are not making any sense, please state the reason behind your call," Jai spoke in a bit firm voice.
"Okay, let me spell it out for you, Did you tried to kidnap Reyansh’s sister?" she asked directly.
"You are not making any sense, Principal. And who is the Reyansh and his sister? Again, you are not making any sense to me whatsoever." Jai answered with a straight face.
"Okay, you are trying to play dumb. Good, you better be sure you have nothing to do with this or I will bulldoze you along with your puny guild for the illegal business you are doing." Arpita spoke as she hung up the phone and exited her house with Luna on her shoulder.
She entered the Aether Ride, a flying car, and entered the hospital addresses she received from Mr. Mehta.
"Did he really do it?" Luna asked, seating on passenger seat beside her.
"Most likely, but I have no proof at the moment. This incident may actually be the chance for me to recruit him but I have to be very careful about how I approach him." Arpita replied as her car flew towards the hospital.
Meanwhile at Victory Guild Headquarter, Guildmaster office
"This bitch, how dare she talk to me like that," he slammed his phone on the table.
"John," he called out to his secretary.
John immediately entered the room, "Yes, Guildmaster."
"Call those idiots immediately. Where did they fucked up with such a simple job after kidnapping her successfully?" Jai ordered, irritation visible in his voice while he gripped the hand rest of his chair tighter.
The secretary, John, immediately called the kidnappers cell but there was no answer. He tried again the result remained the same.
Here, Jai’s anxiety grew by every second they didn’t answer the call.
"How could they fuck up such a straight job? What kind of talent are we recruiting in our guild?" Jai asked aloud.
"Guildmaster, they have confirmed that they had kidnapped her successfully. What if maybe someone intervened?" John questioned.
"Does that matter now? Find out where they are now before something happen that I can’t control." He ordered, John nodded and left.
"FUCK! Where did things go wrong? It was such an easy plan," he spoke aloud as he rubbed his head.
He still remembers the warning he had gotten from his contact when he had tried looking up Arpita for any leverage, ’If you care about whatever you have built? Back off immediately, there won’t be a next time.’
He clutched his head as he wondered, ’What should I do now to get out of this mess?’
