Chapter 1177: Chapter 1175: Everything Is for Justice

Sitting in the car, Mr. Truman lit a cigarette, and neither of them spoke.

The intelligence just received indicated that a firefight had occurred at the station, resulting in over thirty people injured and about less than ten people killed. This was already considered a very, very serious case in the Federation.

Even gang fights had never escalated this much—at least gangs would choose a place without people, not the busiest location.

One party involved was employees of Darkstone Security Company. From the clues left by the other party’s corpses, they appeared to be illegal international mercenaries.

The staff notified Lynch and requested him to accompany them to the President’s Mansion because he was involved in the incident.

Along the way, everyone was deep in thought. The Ministry of International Affairs was not far from the President’s Mansion, and when the car stopped steadily, the two got out.

Mr. Truman stood by the car door, one hand on the clean car roof, the other holding the door. He glanced around before looking at Lynch, "What do you think?"

While closing the door, Lynch replied, "It’s a terrorist attack..."

"Terrorist... attack?" Mr. Truman closed the car door with a smirk, "Sounds quite impressive."

In fact, neither of them took the matter seriously; rather, they were contemplating whether this sudden incident could bring some benefits to what they were currently doing.

Lynch’s words gave him a hint, and he started forming a vague outline of the event in his mind, though the suddenness of it all made it unclear.

When they entered the President’s office, the President was standing by the floor-to-ceiling window watching the gardeners trimming the plants in the yard.

He heard the noise, turned to look at them, and then walked towards his chair.

"This news is really terrible. It ruined my whole morning’s good mood. What’s the situation exactly?" The President looked at Lynch.

The information he received was more comprehensive than the hasty reports Lynch received, but still limited.

The local police station, the FBI, and the Security Committee reported that two groups had clashed, each leaving some corpses, and the firefight ended.

The robbers had five casualties, while three from Darkstone Security were dead.

Initially, only one from Darkstone Security was critically injured. They chose a good location, easy to defend and hard to attack, until the opponents threw in a grenade.

In summary, intelligence reports from various places formed a rudimentary impression of a simple firefight.

This made the President very upset, as this was one of the rare serious cases involving so many casualties within the Federation, making him quite embarrassed!

Even Congress might hassle him about it!

Mr. Truman also looked at Lynch, who seemed calm and asked, "Can I make a call first to understand the situation?"

The President was silent for a few seconds before nodding.

Then Lynch made a phone call in the lounge, answered by the Senior Soldier.

Soon, more specific details were relayed from him to Lynch.

At 10:35 in the morning, just as Charlie (sister) was about to board the train heading to the transportation hub, over ten armed men suddenly attacked the waiting room.

An eight-man security team was dispatched for this operation, half in the open and half in concealment.

When evaluating this operation, company managers did not elevate its level very high. Until now, no armed attack had been launched on the Federation Mainland, leading them to instinctively believe it would be just like before, at most an assassination or an attack in a sparsely populated area.

But no one expected the opponents to launch an attack directly at the station, using heavy firepower and grenades, leading to unforeseen losses.

More troubling was that Charlie (sister) was also taken. After the attackers cleared the resistance in the lounge with grenades, they took her away.

The company has now dispatched an operations team to the scene to find the client and those attackers.

After listening, Lynch contemplated, "This is a premeditated terrorist attack. We must ensure the client’s safety; it’s imperative."

"I heard our client is a legal citizen of the Federation with legitimate documents and proof, right?"

The Senior Soldier was momentarily stunned, then quickly said, "Yes, she recently gained citizenship through investment immigration..."

"I’m not concerned about how she obtained it; that’s Immigration’s concern. As long as she’s a citizen, protected by law and the charter, that’s sufficient."

"Raise the level of this incident to the highest, and have a supervisor on site. Notify me of any progress immediately."

After hanging up, Lynch smoked another cigarette in the lounge before stepping out.

"Did you figure it out?" the President asked Lynch.

Lynch nodded, "A premeditated terrorist attack against our citizens, Mr. President. I believe this case might relate to the talks."

The President’s head buzzed with Lynch’s words. Initially, he assumed it was just an ordinary firefight. But now... it seemed the nature had shifted.

His expression became serious, nodding once, "Go on."

Lynch began to lay out his perspective.

"We all understand the importance of the talks; they are not merely an organization adjusting trade and currency relations. In essence, they are the ’Sol District’s’ prototype..."

The President raised his hand, "Sorry to interrupt, what does ’Sol District’ mean?"

"’Sol District’ is a metaphor for countries encompassed by the World Development Committee. In nations within this alliance, Federation Sol will become a secondary legal tender next to their national currency, perhaps even parallel."

"The higher the usage of Federation Sol, the greater its weight; the more we can purchase..."

The President found some of this complex, pondering for a while, then shaking his head, "Continue."

"Countries where Federation Sol is legally circulated are called ’Sol District.’ In this area, we can achieve control of these countries’ trade and even politics through macroeconomic adjustments."

At this point, Mr. Truman interjected, "For instance, if banks adjust strategies to increase deposit interest rates of Federation Sol, elevate interbank lending and loan interest rates, or operate vice-versa, we can control more markets of other countries."

The President still didn’t quite grasp why adjusting deposit rates and interbank loan interest rates could control foreign markets, but he’s not an economist; he’s the President.

He doesn’t need to know everything, just have people who know help him.

The President nodded earnestly, "I think I understand. This indeed seems severe; someone is provoking us!"

Lynch shook his head, "It’s not provocation, Mr. President; it’s a terrorist attack!"

"I just received word that these individuals are from outside the country. They conducted such a horrendous attack at this crucial time."

"They’re attempting to destroy the strong will of the Federation people—the will to fight, the will for freedom—through terror tactics!"

"I suspect these terrorists might come from some in the Silver Alliance, or perhaps are backed by...," Lynch smiled subtly, and instantly, the name ’Gafura’ flashed in both the President’s and Mr. Truman’s minds.

"They’re challenging our dignity, testing our bottom line. If we let it go or handle it coldly, they may further attack our homeland and people."

"Mr. President, this is not just a firefight; it’s a war that questions whether the Federation can stand firm in the international arena!"

"I recommend that while security agencies investigate, they should also temporarily grant Darkstone Security Company domestic cooperation authority. I’ll mobilize most employees to assist government measures and quickly capture those terrorists and uncover the masterminds behind this."

The President’s head still buzzed. He understood every word Lynch spoke, but not their collective meaning.

Fortunately, he found something he knew, "You’re saying this was premeditated and orchestrated?"

"Undoubtedly, Mr. President," Lynch replied crisply, filled with convincing strength.

"Their goal is to disrupt the talks, create a terrifying atmosphere, and force the Federation Government to bow to certain international forces!"

The President was silent for a while, looking at Mr. Truman, who nodded slightly, agreeing with Lynch’s view.

From Mr. Truman’s perspective, Lynch’s perspective was quite valid, much like their conversations when they first met.

The Federation needs to keep moving forward, overcoming one enemy after another on its path.

Only by continuously achieving victories will the Federation improve and strengthen.

If one day, there’s no more enemy in this world, then it’s perfectly fine to create one!

The talks have exposed many issues so far. The Federation’s international standing isn’t high enough. While they might have defeated Gafura Empire’s invincible navy in the naval war,

everyone seems to think it was just an accident—a coincidence like reckless behavior after a hangover resulting in an unintended child!

These individuals doubt the Federation can defeat Gafura in the next war, and believe war between the Federation and Gafura is inevitable.

There are quite a few who doubt the Federation, though they rarely show it. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

Perhaps, this is an opportunity to apply some pressure on them.

The President pondered for a while, pointing at Lynch, "I can’t grant enforcement power to a private company, but we can invoke..." He looked at Mr. Truman, "What’s the number of that act?"

Mr. Truman quickly reminded, "113!"

"Yes, the ’Act 113 of Requisition’..."
