Darkstone Code
Chapter 1178 - 1176: Interrogation
The origin of the "Act No. 113" stems from a small-scale unrest.
Immigration to the Federation had existed long ago, back when labor migration was allowed, attracting foreign poor people seeking opportunities to come to this country.
Upon arriving, they discovered that the Federation was not what they had heard about; it was far from paradise and indeed was a hell.
At the time, the entrepreneurs, merchants, employers in the Federation had a rather harsh attitude towards these immigrants, often oppressing and exploiting them more cruelly.
Compared to the convenience locals had in finding jobs, labor immigrants cherished their jobs more, and even though they knew the treatment they received was unfair and unreasonable, most did not dare to speak out.
They were even more afraid to resort to the law, fearing losing their jobs, which would drive them and their families into complete despair.
Besides being oppressed and exploited by capitalists, the local workers also held a hostile attitude toward them.
Once, after labor immigrants were harassed by local workers, a conflict erupted and quickly escalated. Due to insufficient manpower, the local police station caused a tragedy with many injured and several deaths.
This incident sparked a discussion about the issue of law enforcement manpower.
The number of police officers in most Federation police stations is far less than people imagine. Being a police officer is not a good job; many would rather be plumbers than police officers.
Recruitment difficulties are a common problem for all police stations, especially in some chaotic cities where recruiting enough manpower is even more challenging.
Without sufficient law enforcement personnel, once there are sudden large-scale unrests and other issues, there will still be problems in timely controlling the situation.
Thus, under various solutions, Congress passed this act, which allows local police stations to invoke ordinary people willing to cooperate with law enforcement departments in dealing with dangerous and sudden group incidents.
During their conscription, these ordinary people can legally use their registered firearms and also use police-issued firearms, possessing law enforcement power equivalent to law enforcement personnel under the supervision of at least two officers.
Simply put, if necessary, ordinary people can act as law enforcement officers and possess most powers.
Though the act has barely been used since its passage, this doesn’t hinder its existence.
In the Federation, many acts are like this; passed due to isolated incidents and never really used afterward.
People aren’t afraid these acts won’t be used, they’re only afraid of similar incidents happening again, making the same mistakes as last time!
With this conscription act, employees of Lynch’s Darkstone Security legally and reasonably possess law enforcement power.
After Mr. Truman’s explanation, Lynch smiled slightly, "This is just right, it won’t cause public resentment either..."
The President nodded, made a phone call, and then Lynch went to the lounge, needing to inform the company managers about this, so they can timely adjust their strategies.
While Lynch was away, the President looked at Mr. Truman, "Will this incident have any negative impact on the talks?"
He had a quite good relationship with Mr. Truman, at least so he believed, and he always supported Mr. Truman’s work.
Mr. Truman nodded, but there was no worry on his face, "There’s some, after listening to Lynch, I think we can leverage this matter."
"Someone is disrupting the talks, now whoever delays progress might be allied with them..."
The President was stunned for a moment, "Are there really people like that among them?"
Mr. Truman shrugged, "I am unsure about others, but Gafura... you know, he can’t stand us doing better."
"Moreover, you don’t need to worry about this becoming a trouble. Perhaps it’s also a good thing for us, at least it tells us it is not time to relax yet."
"Around us, there are still groups of people constantly trying to bring us down!"
"This attack has alerted us, we’ve started being vigilant of these people, which is a good thing when looking from another side."
The President stroked his chin, "But I’m concerned that some people might be dissatisfied because of this."
Mr. Truman chuckled, with a smirk of contempt in his smile.
Darkstone Security’s offense in the North and the siege in the Amelia Region illustrate the cruelty and uncertainty of war.
Yet simultaneously, it also allows him to see the world situation more clearly; most countries would only shout and protest at this time, not daring to risk being "dragged down" and actually do something.
They would only make statements, protest!
Seeing through these countries’ realities makes Mr. Truman increasingly tough on external strategy. Discontent?
Fine, let there be war.
Anyway, the Federation did not participate in the First World War, maintaining relatively intact combat strength, even armed with additional military equipment, having considerable war capabilities.
Mr. Truman feels it’s not a problem to confront those countries barely able to catch their breath with full national power and war strength.
The concern lies with those foreigners.
Seeing what he wanted on Mr. Truman’s face, the President sighed in relief, "That would be best. If there’s any issue, inform me timely, I don’t want to be the last one to know the truth!"
With the President’s approval and confirmation, everything became much easier.
A large number of employees on vacation and those at headquarters began to gather toward the city where the incident occurred. Meanwhile, some attention was also drawn to this small city.
At this moment, in a house in the city center, Charlie (sister) was hung up.
The homeowner’s family was also tied up. They were spared because Scarface hoped they could answer the phone or deal with any visitors.
Now the entire city was under martial law, and some of them were injured. It was hard to escape, they could only hide in place.
Scarface looked at the people in the room who were bandaging, his expression neither good nor bad, just very calm.
Five people died, which was beyond his expectations.
He had always heard that the employees of Darkstone Security were so elite that they could rival the army of the Peng Jieao Empire, but he never believed it.
How could a Federation that has not participated in many wars, and has no commendable war history aside from massacring natives, cultivate powerful soldiers?
Now he had seen it, five companions had lost their lives, and he also realized how thorny the current problem was.
They caught Charlie (sister), but they might not be able to escape.
The atmosphere in the room was somewhat oppressive. After all, five companions were dead. They had worked together for so many years, at least four or five years, at most ten years, and just died in the Federation, which was somewhat sad.
Scarface finished bandaging his arm, stood up, and walked briskly toward Charlie (sister).
His footsteps startled the companions who were still in grief, and they looked at him.
He walked up to Charlie (sister) and then punched her in the stomach.
Charlie (sister), whose hands were tied and hung up, shook violently all over, then started gagging and retching.
Her legs were still lifting constantly, a symptom of spasms after a violent impact. She seemed very painful and pale.
She dry heaved for a long time, but nothing came out. She hadn’t eaten much these days, always in fear, with no appetite.
Scarface grabbed her jaw and asked her, "We lost five people; if you don’t want to try, you’d better tell me all your bank account details!"
Charlie (sister) clenched her teeth tightly, looking at Scarface with some malice, she didn’t speak.
She was very aware that once she was of no use, it would be her time of death.
Now, whether to account to the Federation people, especially Lynch, or for the wealth she possessed, she still had the right to live.
But once she spoke, she would lose her power.
"It seems you don’t understand my words!" Scarface was extremely enraged, and he tore open Charlie (sister)’s clothes.
It was summer, and everyone was dressed very lightly...
The body exposed to the air could not stimulate desire in people. They had just experienced life and death and were still bearing the pain of their companion’s death; there was no desire in their eyes, only hatred.
Scarface pulled out his dagger and grabbed a part of Charlie (sister). "I’ve seen many tough people, but eventually, they all opened their mouths."
"Everyone gets tired and weak sometimes. We can try countless times, but as long as you slack off once, you lose."
"Resistance is meaningless. If I were you, I’d tell now."
Charlie (sister) clenched her teeth and closed her eyes. The next second, there was a tearing sound, like a butcher in a meat shop slicing off a small piece of beef with skin.
A sharp and piercing pain rapidly spread from one point to her whole body, and sweat instantly covered her skin.
She gritted her teeth and remained silent.
A weak voice inside her kept urging—
Speak up, speak up!
Once you say it, the pain will be over!
But her reason firmly prevailed, clearly telling her that the moment she spoke, that would be her time to die.
Scarface saw Charlie (sister)’s stiffness and silence, he paused for a while and pinched one of her ears. "My patience is limited. Maybe next time it will be your nose, lips, tongue..."
Charlie (sister) glared at Scarface viciously, "You will regret this, you will pay for it, and so will your family."
"I will find them one by one, and torture them to death in the same way!"
"No, I won’t kill them. I will let them stay in pain, forever!"
