Chapter 1271: Factory

Hearing this, Fisher raised an eyebrow, seemingly incredulous. Ingrid keenly noticed Fisher’s change in expression and shrugged, saying,

"This is not just gossip, I’ve been on the South Continent for a while now, and many people say the same thing. Not only the New Dragon Court and the human merchants who came here to invest and build factories but even the demi-humans living here are terrified of that bloodthirsty Red Dragon Man. There’s a rumor that she eats human flesh and drinks human blood, and her scales weren’t originally red but turned that color from excessive killing."

Fisher found Ingrid’s words increasingly unbelievable. He always felt that Rafael had become demonized in her eyes, or should I say, in the eyes of humans and this bothersome New Dragon Court.

Of course, it was possible that after he left for a while, the Dragon-man Species might have changed, so when he first heard of her slaughtering actions, Fisher wanted to investigate, but as he listened more, he felt that the earlier words were to some extent a smear.

Originally, Fisher wanted to ask for more information, but while they were conversing intermittently, the area they had seen earlier, from which wisps of white smoke emerged, came into view.

It was a large factory, surrounded by walls dozens of meters high. Compared to the open town, the factory looked more like a fortress standing in the wilderness. Unlike the green flags of the Dragon Court outside, a golden Gedelin Emblem flag was hung above, indicating the ownership of this place.

The tall walls had entrances around them, and Fisher sensed some kind of magical fluctuation from afar. These magical constructs weren’t cheap, and there seemed to be numerous guards at the entrance, clearly indicating strict entry restrictions.

From the outside, only a few chimneys taller than the walls could be seen, with white smoke rising from them.

"Hey, mister, that’s the place. Can you find a way to get me in?"

Seeing the tall walls, Ingrid quickly raised her Picture Keeper, aiming at the walls and guards and snapping several photos from afar.

Emhardt in her arms seemed frightened by the bright flash of the Picture Keeper, thinking it was some kind of Demon Art, so even though it wasn’t aimed at him, he still quickly retreated into Fisher’s ragged white shirt, leaving only one eye peeking out to watch the outside.

Fisher estimated the height, then nodded, saying,

"I have a way."

"What way?"

Ingrid turned around curiously, only to see Fisher walking straight towards her. She swiftly stepped back warily. In her eyes, the magical waves she was hiding became more intense, but before she could react, Fisher had already spoken expressionlessly,

"Put away your magic. The highest nested Magic Ring Count you have is only a ten-ring, which won’t affect me."

"Huh? Mister, you..."

Ingrid’s face changed; she still hadn’t figured out how Fisher saw through the nested structures her teacher set up on her. The next moment, Fisher’s hand gently rested on her waist.

But that big hand wasn’t holding her intimately; rather, Ingrid hoped he would hold her...

Because for some reason, the moment that big hand touched her, she felt a tremendous force. Instantly, she was flung high into the sky by that immense power...

Yes, the man tossed her into the air as easily as throwing a playing card.

"Whoosh whoosh whoosh!"

The wind roared in her ears, and Ingrid’s face turned increasingly pale from the intense feeling of weightlessness. She opened her mouth to scream, but before she could, Fisher gently tapped the ground, soaring dozens of meters into the air, catching the airborne Ingrid and leaping over the wall as if vaulting a railing.

"Don’t make a sound, or you’ll attract others."

Having caught Ingrid mid-air, Fisher spoke up, but he didn’t realize that the young girl from Schwali was utterly shocked.

Even after they landed steadily on the ground, Ingrid hadn’t realized she was already inside the walls, still clutching the Picture Keeper tightly to her chest like a statue.

Fisher glanced at her, gently loosened his grip, and said to her,

"We’ve arrived."

As soon as he let go, Ingrid’s legs went weak, and she collapsed to the ground as if her bones had been extracted.

Several seconds passed before she turned her head in disbelief to look at Fisher, her voice dazed as she said,

"Mister, are you...are you not human? Are you some kind of monster from the South Continent wearing human skin?"

"No, I am human."

"..."

Ingrid swallowed and quickly raised the Picture Keeper to snap another photo of Fisher with a "click."

"Ahhhh, don’t flash me, my eyes!"

"What are you doing?"

Fisher reached out to shield Emhardt’s eyes, who was wailing in his arms. It seemed this little guy was sensitive to strong light, so the new Picture Keeper in Ingrid’s arms was a "special weapon" against Emhardt.
