Eric woke up with a familiar but comfortable weight on his chest. He smiled as he ran his fingers through Mia's hair, stroking her ears in the way that she loved while he waited for her to stir. Outside, the birds were chirping, and he saw a cardinal perched on their windowsill.

"I would give anything for this to last."

He thought back to some of the news reports that had been showing over the course of the last few weeks. Something strange was going on in most of them. None of the anchors were showing maps.

He felt Mia stir under his touch, and she nuzzled against him. "It's too early." She whispered, her tail hooking around his leg.

"Call off and stay in bed with me. I didn't get enough last night."

Eric stroked her tail, causing her to shiver. "I thought you said you wouldn't be able to walk." He teased playfully.

She moaned and kissed his neck. "If you keep going like that, I won't be."

He felt her fingers trace along his most intimate areas, and closed his eyes with pleasure.

They quietly reminded each other how much they missed the other's touch.

After their morning session, Eric stood in front of the mirror. It was foggy from their shower, and he grunted as he rubbed his face. "It's such a shame to shave this." He groaned as he felt the sandpaper like texture.

She walked up behind him, her body draped in nothing but a towel. She pressed her body against his and felt his beard from behind. "Yeah, it's a good look on you." She relented before kissing his jawline. "When you retire, you have to grow a beard."

"Is that so? And who's decree is that?"

She smirked. "Mine if you want to have more nights like last night."

Eric faked a shocked gasp. "You would withhold sex over a beard? That's sacrilege!"

They laughed together, and Eric began shaving.

"You're coming with me today?" He said as he put the finishing touches on his shave job. He ran his palm over his face, and felt no stubble.

"Yes. Unfortunately. Samara is going to take care of Liara while you, Jessica, and me are all going to HQ. Apparently, all the alliance members are going to be there.

Erics eyes widened as he turned around. "Good lord. All of them?"

She nodded.

"Babe, do you know what's going on?" Eric said as he put his razer down and began to clean out the sink. He ignored the heat and moved over so that she could have it.

She sighed. "I don't know the full details, but I have a good guess, and it isn't good."

"Lay it on me."

She finished doing her hair and turned around.

"I think the people and infrastructure of Earth crossed over, but the landmasses didn't."

Eric blinked and turned around, facing her. His jaw clenched as he started doing mental math.

"So we have no clue who is where, and what is what?"

"Exactly."

Eric leaned against the bed and looked out the window. "This keeps getting better and better." He groaned as he put his uniform on.

"What next, you're going to tell me there are mountain sized monsters now?"

She stayed silent.

"Tell me you're joking." He groaned.

"You'll see in the meeting. Now that the other factions have access to your technology, we have been teaching them how to use and pilot it. Yesterday..."

She trailed off, biting her lip as he stood up.

"Sorry. You just look so hot." She murmured with a smile.

"Anyway. Yesterday, the Elves caught glimpses of a lizard walking through the forest. It wasn't just a regular lizard though. It was standing on two legs and about the size of a skyscraper in Austin."

Eric blinked rapidly. "What... in the God loving fuck is happening in this world?"

"Nieto wanted to nuke it."

Eric rubbed his face between his hands. "Yeah. He obviously hasn't seen the movies."

She tilted her head, her tail swishing back in forth.

"Darling? Have you been holding out?"

He laughed and patted her head as she slipped into her work suit.

"Maybe one day we can watch those movies. I think you would like them."

She swatted his hand away and redid her hair. "Can ya stop doing that?" She grumbled. "You men are so lucky. One swipe of your hair, and you're done. For us? We have to twist it this way and that to get it to work. Grr." She huffed.

Liara started crying, and both of them looked at each other with soft expressions. "I'm gonna miss that cry." Eric said gently. "These last three days have been some of the most fun I've had in ages."

Mia huffed again. "Yeah, of course you say that. I had to carry her for nine months, and then when she pops out, her first words are 'Dada.' That little girl and you are going to be trouble in a few years." She groaned while slipping on her work heels. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

He laughed and yanked her tail, pulling her into his arms. "Speaking of a few years, let's have another after all this is over. Liara is going to need a sibling her age, after all."

There was a pounding at their door, and a disgruntled female voice rang out.

"If you two are done being all lovey lovey, can you please get Liara. Unlike you, I don't have a meeting to go to at 9am."

Eric laughed and gave Mia one last kiss before the two of them walked out of the room.

"Yikes." Eric said as he looked at Jessica. Her eyes had circles under them, and the young adult's hair looked more like a rats nest than anything. She was also glaring at Eric like he was her worst enemy.

"You two seem well dressed and groomed." Jessica murmured. "You even have shoes on! So can you please make sure the house is quiet so I can sleep?"

Eric smirked and hugged Jessica.

"I love you too, Jess. Go back to sleep. We'll take care of your sister."

Jessica broke free from the hug and retreated back to her room. "Whatever. Love you too Dad. Love you mom."
