Divine Villain Concealed From Fate
Chapter 46: The Inglorious Reward
"There is no need to worry about us drowning in here." Melinoë had spoken, drawing his attention as she muttered, " Within seconds of the fruit reappearing again, its abundant energies will hasten the process of our encasing. It would even be best that we submerge ourselves. That way, while we won’t slumber, remaining fully conscious and aware, we will be left in a motionless state that prevents us from causing any accidents during the process."
"Encasing?" Qianye muttered back, his brows furrowing faintly in curiosity.
And there, with that curiosity granted to him, his attention was finally drawn away from her, and onto how it now felt after these last few minutes to be within her chrysalis.
’When did I stop kicking my legs to keep myself up?’
That thought dawned on him, and beyond the fact that he was essentially standing within the water, there was that compared to the sensation of his upper body, his legs had begun feeling somewhat dull.
The water rippled faintly as Melinoë nodded, raising her hand too show him.
He finally noticed the coating, as if the threads were like the weavings of a spider, covered through her whole hand and up her arm, across her neck where it had yet to rise up to her face yet.
But with that being said, the coating looked so delicate and thin that without him paying deliberate attention to it, he had missed it.
And thus, he raised his own hands to find the same phenomenon occurring. Then, he glanced back up at her.
"If you don’t want to let it take you as well, you need only to will it." She further explained, "You’re connected to it through me, so your wishes reflect mine to it."
For several moments, Qianye didn’t say anything, silently thinking to himself as his hands fell back into the water:
’It would be helpful considering what I’m about to put myself through. It would be something like the state that hundred-year-old pacifist was in then... except that we would be aware and feeling our suffering. That is perfect .’
"Alright, I’ll give in to the encasing with you. It would be better that way." Qianye confirmed. Then one of his hands raised with its palm raised upwards and he said, "And there is something else I should have you know I will be using during this..."
Qianye paused briefly as she faintly nodded, having already heard this from him. she had been silently curious about the ancient demoness that he had fought, but did not ask. The thing was dead, and could have waited.
Then suddenly, her attention snapped over his palm, where six blood droplets suddenly appeared from.
They were golden, with a malevolent, chilling black swirling through them as they however, oozing a severely threatening aura that robbed the both of them of their breath. And even rippled the water as well as the stability of the chrysalis, recoiling her to the point she drew herself off to the side, away from him with her brows deeply furrowed.
[ Six drops of Ancient Nether Demon blood essence ]
Description: [ Droplets of blood essence from the two hearts of an ancient nether demon Emperor.
Consumption of these droplets will bring escalating influence to your existence itself. Effects are dependent on what you are able to ingest and integrate from them. ]
[ Warning: Wasted blood essence, in overconsumption beyond your manageable limits, will dissipate and be lost forever. ]
He rapidly pulled the blood essence droplets back as he clenched his fist.
"This..." She muttered hesitantly as her eyes rose to him. "If you use blood essence that strong, you would at the very least become part demon. You might even..." And there, here eyes widened.
She couldn’t help the fascinated look that had dawned onto his calm expression then a gradually growing, strange smile came to her. Melinoë moved through the water as if she were walking through it by this point, and she muttered "You are willing to go this far? Don’t you think it is an insane decision to make so hastily?"
Qianye’s brow raised at her response. He had been expecting her to figure out his intentions, but really, who was she to call him crazy? If only she knew what he knew about some of the things that she should have done in the future.
However, regardless of that, he had no intention of denying her, as he said, "Is anything worth it if you aren’t crazy about it?"
"..."
In those several moments where she didn’t respond and she brought herself back closer to him, her countenance lightened, falling into an languid and glazed look over him as she answered finely, "...No."
"But are you sure about this? If these humans discover that you possess demon blood, they may hunt us down."
"Let them be," Qianye scoffed faintly, "I’ve already committed an offence worthy of death according to them by treating you so well. What does adding another reason to that list matter? If I don’t do this now I’ll likely not get the chance to for a very long time."
And ultimately, this was another truth of the matter in why he possessed such confidence in this decision despite the risk.
On this continent, there was no one that had been able to identify the White Tiger blood essence within Chu Xuan.
This was unlike the situation of his mistake with Celosia. After all, this was a fundamental issue with the difference in existences. Ancient Nether Demons, as well as the White Tigers, belonged to higher planes than theirs.
"The only person I had been worried about was you," he then confessed, "I know how elves and demons have a natural... aversion for each other as a race because of their opposing natures, and how much more historical it is in comparison to humanity."
There, Melinoë shook her head faintly, "Whether you are demon blooded or human does not matter to me." Her gaze settled on him, "I’m loyal to your soul. Not something as impermanent as blood or grudges."
And then her hand outstretched, "Now let me split the fruit for us, you can take the blood essence first, and I will handle this for you."
