Divorce, Please: The Young Master Does Not Love Me
Chapter 266: Destroyed
She quickly deleted the video, unplugged the computer, and was just about to smash it when she heard footsteps and men’s voices outside growing closer.
’If I smash it now, the people outside will definitely find me. And if the computer isn’t completely destroyed, how will I explain this to my brother?’
She clutched the computer and frantically scanned the room for a hiding spot. But after a quick look around, she realized the only place to hide was under the desk.
In her panic, she spotted the wide-open window. This was the second floor. ’It doesn’t seem that high, does it?’
"Go check over there!" Just then, a gruff man’s voice shouted from outside.
Terrified, she couldn’t think about anything else and scrambled toward the window. By the time the men rushed in, they saw Mika Summers already climbing onto the ledge.
"Who are you? What are you doing here?" one of the men demanded as he strode toward Mika Summers, reaching out to grab her.
The other man pointed at Mika Summers in shock, shouting, "Damn it! She’s holding the computer! Grab her, don’t let her fall!"
Mika Summers glanced down at the nearly five-meter drop, her legs trembling violently. ’But if I don’t jump now, the man behind me will definitely grab me.’ So, she tossed the computer down below, squeezed her eyes shut, and leaped.
"AHH..."
Mika Summers didn’t fall flat on the ground. She landed hard on her right leg, and an excruciating pain shot from the sole of her foot all the way up to her hip. She felt like the pain was going to cripple her, and her head was spinning.
’I’m so lucky this is soft earth,’ she thought. ’If it were concrete, I’d definitely be dead.’
"Hurry down and stop her! Don’t let her get away!" The man was a step too late. Seeing Mika Summers crumpled on the ground, unable to stand, he yelled urgently to the men behind him.
Mika Summers heard the man’s voice. She scooped up the computer from the ground and started to run, dragging her injured leg. The pain had been bone-deep just a moment ago, but now she was too numb to feel it. ’I just have to get away, as fast as I can.’
She ran out of the villa and saw a car parked outside, its door left open. She tossed the computer inside and scrambled into the driver’s seat.
She started the car, yanked the wheel to make a sharp turn, and sped off.
By the time the men got downstairs and ran out of the villa, all they saw was the woman driving away in the distance.
They pulled out their phones and started making calls.
Mika Summers had been driving for less than five minutes before she couldn’t take it anymore. Black spots started to dance in her vision. She fought to control herself, to stay conscious...
She pulled out her phone and, on instinct, called Tristan Grayson for help. Startled by her own reaction, she was about to hang up when his familiar, cool voice came through the line. "Hello?"
"Tristan..." Her voice trembled, and her consciousness began to fade.
"Mm?"
"I just left my brother’s villa. Someone’s trying to take..." As she was speaking, a heavy pounding suddenly erupted on her car door.
Startled, she dropped her phone and frantically started the car to get away.
By now, the two men had flagged down a passing car. They dragged the driver out of his seat and took off in pursuit of Mika Summers.
As Mika Summers drove, she kept thinking, ’How am I going to destroy this computer...’
