Don't Lie to Your Therapist—She Already Knows Your Fate
Chapter 34: Wen Ying Is Taken for a Charlatan
The stall owner froze, stunned by Wen Ying’s words.
He’d thought he was dealing with some clueless little girl, but he never expected it to backfire so spectacularly.
’How am I supposed to react?’
’I need an answer, stat!’
"Hey, little girl, you can’t just say things like that! What’s this about an ’unclean place’? That’s a very taboo thing to say!" The boss glared at Wen Ying, clearly displeased, but he felt a sense of dread. ’Where on earth did this girl come from?’
"Boss, you know perfectly well whether I’m talking nonsense or not, don’t you? When you got this wooden sword, didn’t you fall and get a bloody gash on your leg?"
[No way, Doctor Wen got it right again? Don’t tell me he picked up this wooden sword from a mass grave or something?]
[Judging by the boss’s face, she’s spot on. Can’t wait to see Doctor Wen work her magic. I live for this drama!]
"What’s wrong, Zhang? Got called out by a little girl? Hahaha!"
"The hunter becomes the hunted, eh? It happens to all of us in this business eventually. Who would’ve thought? That little girl is really something else!"
To the side of Boss Zhang’s stall, the other vendors teased him. This was just part of their daily routine.
Boss Zhang’s face burned with humiliation. He stared stubbornly at Wen Ying and snapped, "Five hundred! I’m not selling it for a penny less!"
"Deal!"
Wen Ying quickly transferred the money. The wooden sword was awkward to carry, so she also asked the boss for a cheap plastic bag.
[Is she not doing a diagnosis? This isn’t how I thought this would go. Why is Doctor Wen leaving?]
[As long as I’ve been following Doctor Wen, I know she never does anything without a reason. So, does she really just want this wooden sword? It looks so plain, like something the carpenter in my village would make!]
[Where’s the reversal? Where’s the epic takedown? Did someone really just walk away with five hundred bucks from Doctor Wen? Is our master diagnostician losing her touch?!]
Holding the wooden sword, Wen Ying was in a great mood. She then spent another five hundred yuan at a neighboring stall, picking up a dozen or so small trinkets.
"Young lady, don’t you say a thing. Everything you’ve picked out, five hundred for the lot!"
"Well then, thank you, Boss. I’m just getting these little things to play with. If you want to buy them back from me later, I’ll even give you a good price!"
The boss was dumbfounded by her words. ’Buy back the things he just sold?’
These trinkets were just cheap things he’d bought to fill up the stall, costing less than a hundred yuan in total. ’He’d have to be crazy to buy them back.’
But he had just gotten a glimpse of how formidable this young woman was. ’It’s safer to just keep my mouth shut.’
After packing up the items, the boss threw in a plastic bag for free.
"Boss, since fate brought us together, I feel I should give you a warning. Tell your family to stay away from water for a while. A lot of places aren’t safe these days, and there’s been so much news about drownings."
The boss just nodded dismissively without saying a word, nor did he ask for Wen Ying’s contact information.
He clearly didn’t take her words to heart.
[Calling it now: someone in that last owner’s family is definitely going to get into trouble!]
[Hey, commenter above, you think you’re the only one who figured that out? Any long-time fan of Doctor Wen knows what’s coming! That guy is definitely going to be begging Boss Wen for medicine later!]
As Wen Ying was leaving, she suddenly turned around and said something odd, "My consultation fee is one thousand yuan, by the way. Medicine is a separate charge."
"What illness? What medicine?" Boss Xu was completely baffled but managed to ask, "What kind of doctor are you?"
"A psychologist. My clinic is at 88 Wenxiang Street."
With those words, Wen Ying’s figure disappeared from view.
"Zhang, what did that girl mean? Was she saying someone in my family is sick? Or that they have some kind of psychological problem?"
"Xu, does she look like a doctor to you? She’s no different from that charlatan by the entrance."
