Dungeon Of Greed
Chapter 31: A Ray Of Hope
There might really be no way....
Lucian shakes his head as an ominous thought creeps into it.
No, that can’t be... I just have to wake him up somehow. Master has reached maximum level. Starting the evolution should heal him.
Even with a path to salvation right next to him, he didn’t know how to take the first step.
Thinking about the evolution made him remember his own. The panel was still blinking, reminding him of the damage his body had sustained.
Wait, I can evolve as well. If I obtain the capability of healing master... I can at least wake him up. He can start his evolution from there. Yes! This is the way.
He was about to proceed with the plan when a flaw became apparent in it. A small but crucial flaw.
’How long will it take me to evolve... what if it’s too long...’
Thinking, Lucian turned his head upside, trying to find someone in the sky. Remembering how his master always asked questions while looking at the sky, he tried to imitate him.
"How long to finish the evolution?" Lucian asked, and to his surprise, a reply came to him.
[The time it takes for tier Ⅰ to tier ⅠⅠ evolution depends upon the rank of the evolution.]
Frowning his brows, he asked back, "What’s rank...how long in hours..."
[Do you want to proceed with the evolution?]
[Yes/No]
Instead of an answer, the system began whispering like a broken record.
"No... first tell me the time." He asked back, but the same thing prompted. It didn’t whisper the perfect answer he was looking for.
Defeated, Lucian turned his head around, trying to look for something else.
"S-Something... a-anything... G-Gods... I heard you live there, and we are your children... K-Kill me and give my body to the master... I-I’m asking for his health... j-just make him regain consciousness for a m-moment..."
He begged, trying to wager his soul for a sliver of time.
"P-Please... I-I will sacrifice anything... e-everything... I-I will become your slave... y-your plaything. Anythi—" His words barely left his mouth before getting weakened by the wailing wind.
Wiping tears from his face, Lucian closed his eyes and tried reaching for any monster around him. Except for the blacksmith, matriarch, and the warrior she had birthed, no goblin was left in the dungeon.
The blacksmith was good at creating tools for killing, but life, it didn’t have any experience with it either.
[Send the warrior here.]
Connecting with the matriarch, he called the warrior. The demon didn’t know its purpose, but it was better than nothing.
Crawling, Lucian was about to move toward his master when his gaze landed upon the corpse beside him.
’Why would she be so incompetent... no potion when she is a healer... if only she were alive...’ Thinking he was about to move on to another idea when something rang in his head.
’Wait... I’m the incompetent one... Why didn’t I think of this?’ A thought hit him like a hand pulling him from the abyss when he remembered the conversation with his master.
----------
"Lucian, do you think this is a great idea?"
"What master?"
"Reanimating the hunters. The goblins are good, but if we make hunters work for us, then it would be very beneficial for the dungeon. They are intelligent and, most importantly, adaptive. That’s not all; we can get much-needed information about the outside world as well."
"You have the power to bring people back from the dead. Is this how you birthed me?"
"Urghmm, birthed is a strong word... forget that. I don’t have the power; it’s the dungeon. It has something to do with me being a human and all. Just tell me, do you think it is a good idea?"
"Although I hate these filthy humans... but if they are your servants, I don’t have a problem with it."
"See, that’s the problem... I don’t have a guarantee that they will be loyal to us."
"It’s a no from me, master. They are already filthy monsters, and if they aren’t even loyal to you, then what’s the point of bringing them back? For them to stab us in the back. They are a cursed creature, and we shouldn’t trust them."
"Well, I’m... well, I was a human. Do you think the same about me?"
"You are a different master. Species can’t define your greatness; you are beyond its confinement."
"Skip that... coming back to it... It’s not a guarantee, but I think there is a high chance of them being loyal, but we can’t risk it at this moment."
"You know better than me, master. So, I will leave the decision to you."
"ahhh!! After this evolution, I’ll have to change my species to something else, so I don’t know if I’ll be able to get this option anymore, and that’s why I think... I mean, I’m just thinking about it that maybe... maybe I will bring one of them back. If they are hostile, we will kill them after getting information. If they appear to be loyal, then we can summon them all. What do you think?"
"Flawless as always, master. I expected nothing less from you."

Remembering the conversation, Lucian instantly prompted his status to appear.

Looking at the last part, Lucian summarized the plan and began thinking of a way to get to the core quickly.
’The warrior... it can brough us in...’ 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
The pieces were falling into their places as he connected with the warrior and ordered it to run quickly.
While the monster was on its way, the demon slithered toward its master and applied blood all over the wound. The altered blood didn’t heal it, but it didn’t let it get worse either.
Roarrr!!
Soon the monster arrived, and Lucian ordered it to carry all three of them.
"Let’s goo..."
He commanded, and the monster began running through the jungle like a flash. Having the administrative privilege, he was able to use the master exclusive path and enter the throne room within a few minutes.
There, he looked for the entrance and went deeper into the dungeon. Having toured this place with his master once, Lucian found the entrance quickly.
Skipping the armory, he went inside the room and stopped right before the core. Picking up Misha’s corpse, he placed it around a core, prompting a panel to appear in front of him.
[Do you want to offer the corpse to the dungeon?]
[Yes/No]
Lucian nodded his head as the corpse disintegrated into golden particles before getting absorbed into the core.
A moment later, the notification he was waiting for came.
[No core detected.]
[Do you want to reanimate the being?]
[Yes/No]
